Splinterlands Challenge of the Week: Focus on Speed...

This week's Splinterlands Challenge of the Week was to showcase the Supply Runner.

I had planned to do this thinking that he had plus one speed at L1, but alas no I was mistaken, so rather than try to use the Supply Runner at L1 (he really has little very offer Bronze League players like me) I decided to showcase the importance of Speed, by using Byzantine Kitty with her 2 speed boost as a summoner for a few matches...

With the Kitty, the market doesn't lie and this really is one of the best summoners to use in any league to gift you victory after victory!

What I found is that she is especially useful at countering the standard Earth magic attack with Goblin Psychic heal, as you will see from the battle below

The Rule Set and Line Up

• Mana cap 29
• Standard Rules apply (Bronze League!)

Summoner - Kitty

1. Unicorn Mustang - EVERYONE plays this, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em.
2. Brownie - for MORE SPEED!
3. Khmer Princes - bit short on mana, some more damage!
4. Dragon Jumper - as my main attack card, also very in keeping with the Speed theme!
5. Child of the Forest - fast snipe attack
6. Chaos Agent - fast sneak and opportunity soak.

Did my strategy work?

• Round 1 - Boom! Dragon Jumper takes out Khmer Princes, 2 damage lost already, and a miss on my unicorn from his.
• Round 2 - Boom! DJ takes out the Elvyn Mystic, my opponent's now 4 damage down!
• Round 3 - Boom! The Regal goes, weakened by my snipe attacks. Unicorn gets take down to one but survives!
• Round 4 - Boom! DJ is 4 for 4, taking out the Goblin Psychic.
• Round 5 - it's all over!

How important was Speed as a factor..

Absolutely CRUCIAL.

Firstly, one crucial miss on the Unicorn Mustang - thanks mainly to the plus 2 speed from the Kitty. I actually think I got a bit unlucky with only one out of four misses.

And then there's first strike advantage every round... with the Dragon Jumper always getting in first it meant the Goblin Psychic being taken out at the beginning of round 4 and thus healing ended by that point!

Overall this was a battle where I wasn't that lucky even, but I still won with a full deck, showing the power of Speed!

Final Thoughts: The Kitty - worth buying?

Well the Kitty is currently the only way you can get plus two speed for ALL monsters in Bronze, without her the max you can get buffed is one, as hardly any cards have the speed buff from the outset.

And speed is a battle winner - it counters this standard earth magic attack as you see here AND it counters Yodin too.
