Splinterlands Challenge of the Week: Prismologisit

This week's [https://peakd.com/hive-13323/@splinterlands/share-your-battle-weekly-challenge-prismologist) was to showcase the Prismologist from the Life Splinter...

While costly on the mana with 8 points this is a damaging card at level 1 with 3 attack and blast and reasonable health and shields, but it is slow!

The battle below features a Level 1 Prismologist a victory....

The Rule Set and Line Up

  • Mana cap- 20
  • Standard Rules apply (Bronze League!)

Summoner - Illian

  1. Lord Aranthus - an ever reliable tank for lower mana battles!
  2. Chicken - 0 mana fodder
  3. The Prismologist - the feature and main damage card.
  4. Divine Sorcerous - Divine Shield and should be in P3!
  5. Soul Fiend - sneak and opportunity soak.

Did my strategy work?

Beautifully, to see it in action click here!

  • Round 1 - I take out my opponent's Albatross with a magic attack but i lose my chicken to an opportunity strike.
  • Round 2 - I take out both my opponent's Stonefish and Archer, Divine Shield saves the sorceress from an Opportunity attack, noice!
  • Round 3 - I take out the Ice Pixie and return fire finishes off the thing at the end, whatever that is!
  • Round 4 - The Prismologist lands a crucial hit on the DeepLurker before he takes out Lord A
  • Round 5 - with the Prism now in tank it's all over for my opponent as the Divine Sorceress just grinds him down!

How important was The Prismologist?

I'd say she played her part alongside all the other pieces pretty much equally.

Her blast worked well early on to take out shields and her final three damage attack on the Deep Lurker was crucial to finishing the battle off.

However without Lord A's shield and return fire from the summoner I wouldn't have won.

And I needed the Chicken and Divine Shield to keep me alive for five rounds, and oddly the Divine Sorceress did her part too.

I got a bit lucky misplacing her TBH too!

Final Thoughts: Prismologist - worth buying?

At level 1 absolutely not, you'd be better off with the Pelacor Arbalest as you get more chance of hitting with the same speed but double strike.....

However by max levels it's possibly looking a bit different as once you max the two cards out you get much better buffs from the Prisimologist.

So it depends how far you are taking the card - for a basic deck, not worth buying, for a Diamond League deck maybe, but even then I'd hesitate as the speed is just too low!

I mean for 7-9 mana, I've got a LOT of better options with my legendaries.

But for a common card, and that's how me must judge the Worm, he's pretty awesome!

If you don't yet play Splinterlands, why not give it a go?
