Splinterlands Challenge of the Week: Scavo Firebolt...

This week's Splinterlands Challenge of the Week was to showcase the Scavo Firebolt from the Fire Splinter...

I think 'average' is the best way to describe this card at Level one - reasonably damage for the mana, good health but poor speed, all in all.... average!

The battle below features a Level 1 Scavo

The Rule Set and Line Up

  • Mana cap - 28
  • Standard Rules apply (Bronze League!)

Screenshot 2022-05-20 at 19.03.14.png

Summoner - Yodin

  1. Legionnaire Alva - to protect against magic (not needed!)
  2. Radiated Scorcher - second tank and opportunity sink
  3. The Chicken - snipe and opportunity fodder
  4. Centaur - snipey sipe!
  5. Scavo - my main attack up front card!
  6. Scavo Hireling - to repair the Legionnaire!

Did my strategy work?

Beautifully, to see it in action click here

  • Round 1 - Blast has an immediate impact helping me to plough through Divine Shiel and take out my opponent's Snitch, but I lose both my Scavo Hireline and my Radiated Scorcher to opportunity attacks!
  • Round 2 - I take out my opponent's tank and thanks to a a miss from the Cave Slugs (it is a problem with them) I only lose my Chicken to opportunity this round!
  • Round 3 - Straight off the bat I take out the next two of my opponent's cards - one opportunity attack down!
  • Round 4 - Surprisingly it's all over this round - I take out the remaining two of my opponent's cards!

How important was The Firebolt?

Well he did his bit as part of a line up with reasonable damage, but that extra plus one from Yodin was crucial in giving him a boost.

Just as crucial were all the opportunity soaks around the Scavo Firebolt, but it was nice to know he was going to be the last focus given his relatively high health.

And of course the Front Man played a role too.

But I played Yodin, and so without a doubt it was blast what won it - especially useful when your opponent plays Divine Shield - as it kills that buff!

I was actually surprised I won so easily as my sniper didn't even come into play and usually shields are good against ranged attacks, and no magic so no use for my Void Armour!

I guess that's just Yodin for you!

Final Thoughts: Scavo Firebolt - worth buying?

YES as he has the best Mana to damage ratio of all the Fire Splinter Chaos cards and especially if you've got Yodin to give him a further one damage boost.

Also he has pretty decent health and he's relatively cheap at just $0.15!

If you don't yet play Splinterlands, why not give it a go?

5 years this has been happening to me, it started here, around people that are still here. Homeland security has done nothing at all, they are not here to protect us. Dont we pay them to stop shit like this? The NSA, CIA, FBI, Police and our Government has done nothing. Just like they did with the Havana Syndrome, nothing. Patriot Act my ass. The American government is completely incompetent. The NSA should be taken over by the military and contained Immediately for investigation. I bet we can get to the sources of V2K and RNM then. https://peakd.com/gangstalking/@acousticpulses/electronic-terrorism-and-gaslighting--if-you-downvote-this-post-you-are-part-of-the-problem

I have an aversion to ranged, they are useless if your front line falls.

I do like the idea of exploring different cards and their uses though and this challenge encourages just that.

I know what you mean - although generally people use return fire much less than either reflect or thorns....
