Thoughts on Dec-B and Building in a Box...

I was really glad when the last but one significant SPS proposal to burn DEC or DEC-B was rejected by the community...

My rational for voting against it, which i did, is as follows:

I've already paid a significant wad of cash for my land and the thought of having to then spend further money to compete against everyone else who has bought land in order to hold my chances of finding something decent level with the field just doesn't sit right.

I mean it's not as if it's bringing any new money into the game, is it? It's just making people who have already invested burn resources to MAINTAIN their original investment, it's like making us pay twice, for literally NO gaming content.

I mean there's literally no fun in the proposal AT ALL. No obviously identifiable playable aspect or any remotely enjoyable experience to be had out of this proposal.

It's literally just 'you spent money on land, now you MUST SPEND MORE to maintain the value of that land, and in return you get.... NOTHING.

And it is pitting all investors against each other, which is pretty grim if you ask me.

Literally no idea why anyone would have upvoted this.

I mean, fair enough, I do get the fact that pretty much everything about Splinterlands is designed to get people to compete for scarce resources, so we are all competing, but at least with most of the resources you buy you can actually seem some tangible, in-game benefit, like with cards, SPS, Vouchers, you can DO something with them, unlike this proposal.

And I'm actually in favour of the 'building in a box' proposal too.

O.K. in one way this no different to the DEC-B thing - you want your land to work NOW, then you must invest more money, but there is more... there is a tangible product you are buying, it is doing something in-game, you are still encouraged to spend money but there's a kind of tangible, measurable benefit that you can see and act with, rather than just a black-box dice roll which is the case with Dec-B.

NB I don't like potions either, for the same reason, but thank god this madness has been stopped here.

Also with the building in a box I am not in favour with 'pay to get ahead' it's shit, but unfortunately I know this is a profitable model in the gaming world, so I'm having to go against my gut instincts and put profit first here.

But it's the game related tangibility I'm in favour of, I mean we all know that Splinterlands and any NFT based gaming project is glammed up DEFI, but at least put in proposals that maintain the illusion it's a game!

Building in a box does that, dice-roll land reveal burn your money doesn't IMO!

They screwed the DEC supply by overprinting DEC when it was above the peg.
We are paying that price too.

Didn't the DEC just print according to a preset algorithm>?

I'm not sure how it worked historically.

I'm just glad I at least sold some when it was crazy prices, should have sold the damned lot of course!
