Water Unit of Splinterlands are difficult to defeat and this is due to their high ability of evading attacks. In Starter Cards, you can notice that Serpent of Eld can deliver that kind of performance. But aside from that monster, there are other monsters that lies beneath the ocean of Water Unit.

The PHANTOM OF THE ABYSS is a Legendary Water Monster. It has amazing abilities and killer stats. This monster can deliver great performance during the battle and that can be a worry for your opponent.

Exciting, right?! So to not prolong your curious minds, let's get to know this monster!

THE LORE

The Phantom of the Abyss is rarely seen by the water breathers of Azmare; he lives deep in the dark water. He is a shadowy and mysterious figure with incredible powers of mind control. Sometimes his glowing blue eyes can be seen from a boat, far beneath the surface of the water. Every child of the Azmare Archipelago has heard nightmare stories of the Phantom.

THE POWER OF THE PHANTOM

PHANTOM OF THE ABYSS is a 10 mana Water Legendary Monster with Flying and Dodge ability at Level 1. Monsters with Flying ability can evade melee and range attacks of the monsters who do not have flying ability. Monsters with Dodge ability has increased chance of evading melee and range attacks. Combination of these two ability is lethal and it could be difficult for your opponent to create damage. This monster has 3 magic attacks, 6 speed, and 7 lives. By looking at the overall characteristics of this monster, we can say that it has all the quality of a tank. Seven lives can survive longer in the field already and with its ability, Flying and Dodge, and its six speed, it can definitely evade, resist, and survive a lot of rounds. For offense of this monster, we can also say that three magic attacks is a great offense because magic attacks are direct attacks and it can only be resisted by an ability. Take note that this monster is only at its Level 1 but it delivers powerful performance. What more when it levels up?

When this monster reaches Level 2, it gains new ability called Demoralize. Monsters with this kind of ability can reduce the melee attacks of the opponent's monsters. Reducing the melee attacks of the enemy is a great strategy in the battle. Your monsters with low life can surely survive longer in the battle.

At Level 4, when this monster reaches its final level, it gains new ability again called Headwinds. Monsters with this kind of ability can reduce the range attacks of opponent's monsters. At this level, this monster has 4 magic attacks and same stats to others.Combination of 11 cards must be done in order to achieve this level.

WAYS TO ELEVATE THE POWER OF PHANTOM OF THE ABYSS USING OTHER CARDS

There are lots of ways to elevate the power of cards. For beginners who do not have enough money to buy other cards, here are the cards that you may use to elevate the power of Phantom of the Abyss using only the Starter Cards.

KELYA FRENDUL. This summoner is good for Phantom of Abyss because it can give that monster s shield. If ever that monster cannot evade the attack, the shield will resist it. Also, by increasing the speed of Phantom of Abyss, it can now increase its probability of evading attacks.
MERDAALI GUARDIAN. This monster is the water healer. It can help Phantom of the Abyss on healing the damages that the opponent's monsters made.

Aside from these monsters, there are also other monster you can buy and consider when using Phantom of the Abyss. Some of them could be a little bit expensive but worth it.

LIR DEEPSWIMMER. This summoner gives friendly monsters additional two shields, Return Fire ability, and Blind ability. It will be beneficial to Phantom of Abyss because it does not have shield and it will elevate the chance of evading of attacks. Also, if ever the attack of the enemy is successful, it can return the attack to its attacker.
RIVER HELLODALE. This monsters ability will be beneficial to everyone especially to Phantom of the Abyss. The abilities of the Phantom of the Abyss is so spectacular. Once it dies and resurrected again, it will be difficult for the enemy to eliminate it in the game once again.
BAAKJIRA. This monster can reduce the speed of the enemy. It will not give any ability to the Phantom of the Abyss but it can definitely increase the speed difference between the monsters.

So that's it! We just need to experiment on the cards to know on how to elevate its power and make it on the next level. But aside form that, proper positioning is important. With that, here are the suggested positions for this monster.

• First Position or Tank Position. This monster has tank qualities. It can definitely win against the attacks of the enemy and it can resist and evade lots of attacks. It can definitely protect the other cards.
• Last Position. Since this monster can protect other monsters, it will be genius to position it at the back to protect the powerful monsters. Don't worry it can still make attacks due to the kind of attack it has.
