In Splinterlands, Earth Unit contains creatures that has powerful abilities. They have undeniable strength and they can surely withstand battles with strong enemies. For this week, Mycelic Slipspawn is the featured card on SHARE YOU BATTLE! content of Splinterlands. This monster has very interesting ability and that can help to win the battle.

I know that Earth Unit battles excites you. So without further ado, let us know this monster and watch its battle!

THE LORE

Mycelic Slipspawn was first found on the edges of the swamps of Praetoria, in areas where the fetid waters meet with the forests and jungles. It is highly toxic and grows to a substantial size. Death is uncommon for those who touch its fibrous body however, the side effects of its toxins can cause a long list of illnesses and disease, leaving its victims severely debilitated.

When the chaos portal opened and the creeping plague infected the land, the Slipspawn struggled to endure, being completely intolerant to the deadly pandemic. But then Queen Mycelia came, she touched the Slipspawn as she passed it by and it drank from her power, an enduring energy that ran deep and defiantly cast the pestilence of the chaos taint aside. The Slipspawn pulled its roots free from the ground and eagerly danced across the leafy forest floor after her, desperate to follow its saviour and stand by her in the times to come.

The small fort was impregnable. In fact, from recollection, Ursca couldn’t remember the last time it had even been attacked, which did beg the question as to why it was there. Apparently the Realm of Silence was nearby, tunnels dug beneath the ground by rat-like creatures, but he didn’t believe any of that, it was all just an excuse to keep them penned up in the uncomfortable old garrison.

A shout snatched his attention away from the mundane task of chopping firewood and he looked up to the wall where one of the guards was waving vigorously.

“Bowmen, we need bowmen up here now!” the man cried.

Ursca forgot what he was doing, dropping the axe and running to the wall, excitement at what was on the other side dispelling any hint of alarm or panic. When he reached the palisade and looked over, he was met with the strangest of sights. It appeared the forest had sprouted legs and was shambling towards them, led by a peculiarly dressed woman and a shuffling…was that some kind of mushroom? As they neared though he could see it wasn’t a woman at all, more like some sort of infected witch, and the other thing was white and rubbery looking with fiery hair, bright eyes and a white lattice work that blossomed out behind it.

Moss and rotten spores began to appear across the wood stockade, creeping up the wall, prompting Ursca to edge away. Some of the guards fired arrows at the approaching throng but they all turned in the air at the last moment, striking the white fungus creature at the front. None of it caused any damage though and the rotting horde continued, inexplicably on. He wanted to turn and run away but his limbs felt suddenly leaden, the energy sapped from his body. Then a guard screamed and Ursca looked along the wall. He watched in horror as the fungal spores reached the poor man, quickly absorbing the life from his body and turning him into a rotting husk within seconds.

Closing his eyes, Ursca dropped to the ground and began to sob.

THE FIGHT OF THE WEEK

Before picking cards, I always look first at the previous battles of my opponent and decide which element can beat the previous element they used. After that, I decide on what cards can beat the previous elements.

BATTLE RULES

For this battle, 13 mana cap is the total mana needed and it is No standard. NO STANDARD means that players are allowed to use any elements and there are no special rules indicated during the battle. This is a free fight and this kind of ruling makes both party to maximize their capabilities.

STRATEGY

For this battle, with the use of Mycelic Slipspawn, my strategy is to use magic attacks to win the game. I notice that my enemy uses fire unit, which specializes on defense. With that, it will be difficult more me to use melee and range attacks because surely, the tank that will be used here is the Living Lava. With that, I become confident that Mycelic Slipspawn can win this fight, for it use magic attacks.

THE LINE UP

OBSIDIAN. This summoner is perfect to strengthen the attack of Mycelic Slipspawn. It can increase the magic attack of a monster. On this case, Mycelic Slipspawn will now have 3 magic attacks and that is very useful because magic attacks are direct attacks.
MYCELIC SLIPSPAWN. This monsters has a very interesting ability. It has Taunt ability. Monsters with this kind of ability can attract attacks of all opponent's monster. It is very useful if you are protecting other cards that are more powerful than this monster. Also, we can make sure that this monster will live longer in the field due to its high life.

THE FIGHT

At the beginning of this battle, both sides increase their stats due to the abilities of their summoners. For my opponent, it increases the speed of its monsters. That is terrifying because Serpentine Spy' speed turns into 4 speed and that makes it to be the first card to always attacks first. Also, Living lava's speed was also increased and that makes its attack to not miss at all against Mycelic Slipspawn.

For my team, Obsidian increase the magic attack of my monster. It attacks Living Lava and it did not miss. Of course it will not miss because magic attacks never miss and it can only be resisted by an ability. On that status of Living Lava, it do not have any ability to resist magic attack.

On the second round, the tank of my enemy has only 3 lives and my monster has still 5 lives. Serpentine Spy attacks first and that is the perks of having the highest speed in the battle. Lucky for me, Mycelic Slipspawn attacks first before Living Lava does. That attack makes Living lava eliminated in the game.

At the final round, the moment that Serpentine Spy placed on the tank position, I knew that I am going to win the match. Serpentine Spy has only 1 life. It does not have any match on Mycelic Slipspawn. Even though Serpentine Spy has the highest speed, still it cannot avoid the power of magic attacks.

CONCLUSION

For this battle, I think that my strategy works perfectly. Magic attacks is the reason why I win the battle. In terms of the performance of Mycelic Slipspawn, I am not that satisfied. Not because the card is week. Actually it is strong. But I am not satisfied because it ability wan not use in the battle due to low mana cap. It will be better if Taunt ability was used in the game.

With that, I still do love this card because of the overall package it can offer. It has strong attacks, speed that is fine, and life that is so high. In addition to that, it has tank quality that is very useful to protect the powerful monsters on the field. Take note, that is only Level 1 capabilities. What more if this monsters levels up? I think it will be one of the Earth Unit meta.
