Today, we are going to talk about the Splinterlands Abilities.

This post was done last February and I am going to recreate and revise this content in order to help the new players to jumpstart their battle in the game with the new cards addition and updates.

Going back on the topic, for this week, we are going to talk about the following abilities:

  • SNIPE
  • BLAST
  • DODGE
  • CLOSE RANGE
  • DOUBLE STRIKE

Also, we are going to analyze these abilities and talk about the following:

  • WHEN TO USE THESE ABILITIES AND THE BEST POSITION FOR THESE ABILITIES
  • MONSTERS WITH THIS KIND OF ABILITY AND HOW TO NEGATE OR COUNTER THE ABILITIES

Each abilities in Splinterlands are made to make the game more exciting and challenging. These abilities are the reason why each monsters are unique and different. Since there are cryptocurrencies that lies on every battle, winning is very tempting. And that is the main reason why we need to understand everything about abilities.

THE ABILITIES

The following below are the symbols of the abilities, the name of the abilities, and the description of each abilities. It is important to know all of this so that it can save you time on card picking.

Monsters with this kind of ability targets other monsters with range, magic, or no attack.

Monsters with this kind of abilitiy does additional damage to monsters adjacent to the target Monster.

This ability increases the chance of the monsters on evading attacks.

This ability let the monster with range attack to attack in the first position.

Monsters with this kind of ability attacks twice in a round.

WHEN TO USE THESE ABILITIES AND THE BEST POSITION FOR THESE ABILITIES

Now that we know the symbols of the abilities, their names, and the description of each abilities, let us now determine when to use these abilities and the best position for these abilities. Understanding these things could elevate your winning rate and winning probability on each game.

ABILITY
WHEN TO USE THE ABILITY
BEST POSITION FOR THE ABILITY
SNIPE
Use the SNIPE ability when you are confident that your opponent will use EARTH Monsters and LIFE Monsters. Earth Monsters are magic attackers and Life Monsters are range attackers. With their kind of attacks, they are surely become the target of this ability. Eliminating magic attacks as early as possible in the game is a must since shields cannot resist it.If you are planning to use this kind of ability in the battle, never use it as a tank because you will not maximize the use of this ability. Instead, position this in the second or third position, depending on the damage it can create and the life it has. If the monster has high damage and high life or high damage and low life, place in the second position, so that it can help other monster on creating damage. Now, if the monster has low damage and high life or low damage and low life, place it in the second position. It can function more as a substitute tank (I do not mean to offend others, but I think it is for the best).
BLAST
Use the BLAST ability if you are confident that you are battling with DEATH Monsters or FIRE Monsters. The specialty of the Death Monsters is the Thorns ability. With that, making a non-contact attack is highly suggested. For Fire Monsters, they are mostly have high defense, so creating more damage is also highly suggested.When using BLAST in the battle, never place that monster on the first position. This ability is too important in the game we cannot risk losing it in just few attacks. When you are using this kind of ability, place the monster on the second or third position (in the middle of the line up). If this monster hit other monster that is not in the first position, it will create damage on the other monsters that is beside it. That will surely increase your damage rate towards your opponent.
DODGE
Use the DODGE ability if you are battling against monsters with low speed. Mostly, monsters with low speed are the Fire Monsters. Since they have low speed and you have DODGE ability, it will be hard for them to create damage.Monsters with this kind of ability is best to place in the first position and in the last position. Assigning monsters with this kind of ability as a tank is very effective, for they mostly will evade the attacks instead of resisting it.
CLOSE RANGE
Use this kind of ability when you are dealing with monsters with high life. This ability will surely increase your damage rate towards your opponent.This ability is best to place in the last position. Placing it in that position will fully maximize its ability in the battle. But, if you think that your opponent is going to use SNEAK ability, place the monster in the second to the last position.
DOUBLE STRIKE
Use this kind of ability when you are dealing with monsters with high life. This ability will surely increase your damage rate towards your opponent.This ability is best to position in the second to the last position. Its ability to create high damage is very important in the battle. We cannot risk this ability on placing to the last position for it could be eliminated using the Sneak ability. On that position, its ability will be maximize.

MONSTERS WITH THIS KIND OF ABILITY AND HOW TO NEGATE THE ABILITIES

Now that we know when to use the mentioned abilities and where to position those abilities, it time to determine your choices of monsters and how to negate this kind of ability.

HOW TO NEGATE OR COUNTER THE ABILITY
SNIPE
image.pngSNIPE ability is the kind of ability that is hard to negate. The only thing you can do when match up with this is use the SHIELD ability to lessen the attacks. If you are thinking about countering this attack, Opportunity and Reach ability is perfect since most of the monsters with this kind of ability has melee attack. They will never be the target of SNIPE ability.
BLAST
image.pngIf the monster with BLAST ability has melee attack, then it is perfect to use Thorns ability against it, so that you can also create damage. If the monster has magic attack, use Magic Reflect to negate the attack and if the monster with BLAST ability has range attack, use Shield to lessen the damage.
DODGE
image.pngWhen your opponent uses DODGE ability, use magic attack monsters. Magic attacks never miss, they can only resist using the VOID ability
CLOSE RANGE
image.pngIn the CLOSE RANGE ability, use SHIELD to lessen the attack. If you want to do a counter attack, use SNEAK because surely, opponents will always place this in the last position.
DOUBLE STRIKE
image.pngFor DOUBLE STRIKE, SHIELD is the best choice to lessen the damage. Also, you can use SNIPE here since there are monsters with this kind of ability that uses range attacks.

CONCLUSION

Abilities in Splinterlands could be a threat for everyone but it could be an asset by anyone. Understanding the abilities, their right position, and when to use the abilities is vital in the game. Also, picking the right monster in every battle is an advantage and knowing which abilities or monsters negates the other abilities is the key on achieving victory. Study every aspect of the game and surely, winning every battle will be easy to obtain.
