MORDEUS.png

Riftwatchers is the newest card pack in Splinterlands. After the emergence of the Chaos Legion Pack, Riftwatchers conquered the spotlight. This card pack has 43 brand new cards (13 common, 12 rare, 6 epic (Summoners), and 12 legendary (including 5 airdrops, in addition to the limited edition promo card)). One of the monsters in Riftwatchers is the Mordeus. This monster is a Legendary Fire Monster with a very powerful ability. It has stats that are extraordinary and can surely win every game. Despite that, still, this monster can be defeated by another monster. In order to avoid that, it is very important to have a deeper understanding about this monster.

For this week, we will get to know Mordeus. So what are we waiting for? Let's start a feature!

THE POWER OF MORDEUS

image.png

MORDEUS is a Legendary Fire Monster of Riftwatchers with Opportunity ability. Monsters with this kind of ability can attack from any position and it targets monsters with lowest health. That kind of ability is very useful in battle because most of the time, monsters with lowest health are the most powerful monsters in the field. Eliminating the most powerful monster of your opponent can help you win the game. Aside from its ability, this monster also has incredible stats. It has five (5) melee attacks, two (2) speed, and four (4) lives. Looking at its stats, we can say that this monster is above average. There are only a few monsters in Splinterlands with that high melee attack. Its speed is not that impressive but at least it still has a 10% chance of evading attacks. In terms of health, this monster has an average life. It is enough to at least survive the first round. In terms of mana, this monster needs seven (7) mana in order to get summoned in the field. Seven mana for this powerful monster is such a low mana pricing and that is what makes this monster even more qualified to be in your line up.

SUGGESTED STRATEGIES

Most of the time, no matter how strong your monsters are, it still becomes useless if its ability and power is not used right. We need to strategize in order to win the game and to discover the full potential of our monsters. With that, here are some tips in order to strategize this monster:

  • NEVER PLACE THIS MONSTER IN TANK POSITION. This monster has Opportunity ability. Meaning, it can attack from any position so it will be useless if you put this monster in the first position. You can create more damage if this monster is not in the tank position compared to placing this monster in the tank position. Also, another reason is the low average life of this monster. A four life is not that huge so it will be delicate for this monster to receive a massive number of attacks (Refer to the image below).

  • NEVER PLACE THIS MONSTER IN THE LAST POSITION. In Splinterlands, there is an ability that can make a monster attack the back position monsters first. That is tricky and super delicate and that is the reason why we should not place Mordeus at the last position. The suggested place for Mordeus is at the middle, something at third or fourth position. I know that it is not applicable all the time but if it is, then I highly suggest to do this (Refer to the image below).

Question: What if the battle is a low mana fight and only two monsters can be afforded?
Answer: For this, choose to place Mordeus at the last or second position. It is risky, but it's the safest and the only way to maximize the full potential of this monster

image.png

  • INCREASE THE LIFE OF THIS MONSTER. In Splinterlands, there are cards that can give additional life to all friendly monsters and that can help Mordeus to survive many more rounds.
  • INCREASE THE SPEED OF THIS MONSTER. Aside from life, there are also monsters in Splinterlands that can give additional speed to all friendly monsters. You can use that to help this monster survive many more rounds. Increasing the speed of this monster, also increases the chance of this monster to evade attacks.
  • GIVE THIS MONSTER A SHIELD. Mordeus has an average life. With that, it needs protection in order to survive attacks. Shields can resist massive melee and ranged attacks and that will be very helpful for this monster. Even one (1) shield can protect this monster in massive damages.

image.png

  • GIVE THIS MONSTER A FLYING ABILITY. A Monster with Flying ability has an increased chance of evading attacks to the monsters who do not have Flying ability. This ability will be helpful for Mordeus to avoid melee and ranged attacks and to survive in the game.

image.png

  • GIVE THIS MONSTER A CAMOUFLAGE ABILITY. I am not really sure if there are Summoners that can give Camouflage ability but this ability will be very helpful to Mordeus to not be a target when it is not in the first position. Camouflage ability removes the possibility of the monster to be targeted when it is not in the first position.

image.png

  • GIVE THIS MONSTER A THORNS ABILITY. There are Summoners in Splinterlands that can give Thorns ability. Thorns ability can give two (2) damages to its attacker and it is an elevation of power for Mordeus because it will turn out that this monster can give seven damages in the field. It is highly risky but definitely one of the strongest moves in the battle.

So there you go! A strategy that you can apply in all your battle.

A QUICK MARKET REVIEW

image.png

Mordeus is one of the most expensive monsters in the fire unit. This is because of the type of monster it is (a Legendary monster) and to the power and overall characteristic it has. In Splinterlands market, As of today, there are 46 cards in the market and the lowest selling price is $8.49. For rental, the lowest renting price of this monster is 3.83 DEC (Dark Energy Crystals) per day. Its rent price is pretty affordable but there's only a few sellers that offer 3.83 DEC/day. This only means that many players recognize how powerful this monster is. Even though this monster is already expensive, I still believe that this monster is underrated. With its power and ability, I believe that it should be more expensive. There are many possible reasons why this monster does not get the price it deserves but I think that the most clear reason for this is its popularity. This monster does not get enough attention to the market and that is the reason why its price is lesser compared to its deserved price.
