WEEKLY BATTLE: THE HOT LAVA BATTLE OF FIRE SPLINTERS

The card for the WEEKLY BATTLE CHALLENGE has been posted and it is, the LAVA SPIDER.
LAVA SPIDER is a Common Fire Monster with Snipe ability. This monster has 1 range attack, 2 speeds, and 4 lives. By looking at its overall characteristics, we can say that this is a good card for battle.

Without further ado, lets start the challenge
THE BATTLE RULES
For every battle in Splinterlands, there are rules. For this battle, it is 22 mana cap, No Standard, and all elements can be use. Meaning, we can pick any summoner or monsters as long as their total mana is fitted to the given mana cap. Commonly, these rules are the rules that every Bronze III and below level players experience.
THE CARD PICKING
This part is the most crucial moment in the battle: picking the right monsters that should be placed in the battle. As player, you have to know, or somehow make a prediction, on the monsters that your opponent could possibly use. After making a guess, think of the summoners and monsters that can defeat and negate all of his attacks. Also, determining the right and perfect position of your chosen monster can be a really big help throughout the battle.
By following all of that, here are the monsters that I decide to use on this battle with LAVA SPIDER.
 | TARSA is a Rare Fire Summoner. It has the ability to increase by 1 the melee attack and the life of other Fire monsters in the field. This summoner is perfect to use against summoners that reduces the life of your monsters. Also, this summoner is great to elevate the attacks of your monsters. | |
 | LIVING LAVA is a Rare Fire Monster with Shield ability. Monsters with this kind of ability reduces the melee and range attack damage made by the opponent (to know more about this ability, you may read it here). This card has 3 melee attacks, 1 speed, 2 shields, and 6 lives. By looking at its overall characteristics, we can say that this card is the perfect tank for the Fire unit. The only weakness of this card is its speed. It only has 1 speed, meaning it cannot avoid any attacks made by the opponent. | |
 | LAVA SPIDER is a Common Fire Monster with Snipe ability. Monsters with this kind of ability targets range, magic, or no attack monster that are not in the first position. This is a very valuable ability because magic attacks are difficult to resist. This monster has 1 range attack, 2 speeds, and 4 lives. By looking at its overall characteristics, we can say that this is a good card for battle, but not very reliable in terms of doing damage due to its low attack. | |
 | SERPENTINE SPY is a Common Fire Monster with Opportunity ability. Monsters with this kind of ability may attack from any position and it attacks monsters with lowest health (to know more about this ability, you may read it here). This monster has 2 melee attacks, 3 speed, and 1 life. By looking at its characteristics, we can say that this card is a threat for battle. The only issue here is its low health. | |
 | TENYII STRIKER is a Rare Fire Monster with Sneak ability. Monsters with this kind of ability attacks the back position. This is vital for the game since most of the players place their strongest monster in the back (to know more about this ability, you may read it here). Eliminating the strongest monster first is a good strategy to ruin their offense. Also, this monster has 2 melee attacks, 2 speeds, and 6 lives. By evaluating the characteristics of this monster, we can say that it has a major role in the battle due to its different way of attack. |
On the other hand, here are the monsters that my opponent used in the battle.
 | This summoner can increase the range attacks of the monsters. | |
 | TAUNT. Monster with this kind of ability targets this monster if they are able to. This is like a force field that attracts attacks of monsters. | |
 | SLOW. Monsters with this kind of ability reduces the speed of all opponent's monsters. Speed is vital in the game since it determines who attacks first and who attacks last in the battle. Also, speed dictates the evading chance of the monsters. | |
 | DOUBLE STRIKE. Monsters with this kind of ability attacks twice in each round. Increasing the number of attacks in battle is important due to the fact that it can help you create more damage to the opponent. |
THE FIGHT OF THE WEEK
Now, that I and my opponent pick monsters that we are going to use in the battle, the real fight begins.
ROUND 1: THE THREATENING EFFECTS
In the first round, all the effects takes place. The GENERAL SLOAN increases the range attack of the PELACOR ARBALEST and TARSA increases the lives and all the melee attacks of my monsters. Also, the ability of TIME MAGE takes place in the battle. TIME MAGE reduces all the speed of my monsters in the battle.
TIME MAGE and PELACOR ARBALEST attacks LIVING LAVA. They are the first two to attack due to their high speed. Next, SHIELDBREARER attacks LIVING LAVA but SERPENTNE SPY takes revenge. It attacks SHIELDBREARER causing it to lose 3 shields. LAVA SPIDER missed its attack against SHIELDBREARER and TENYII STRIKER made its attack to SHIELDBREARER as well, leaving it with no shield. TENYII STRIKER attacks that card due to taunt ability. Lastly, LIVING LAVA attacks SHIELDBREARER leaving it now with only 5 lives.
Overall, we can see that the opponent receives a lot of damage in the end of the first round. Can its monsters fight back and win?
ROUND 2: THE BLOODY BATTLE
For round 2, TIME MAGE attacks first. It attacks LIVING LAVA back up by PELACOR ARBALEST. LIVING LAVA cannot handle all the attacks and it becomes eliminated in the game. LAVA SPIDER was next in line and it tries to resist the attacks made by PELACOR ARBALEST. But, SHIELDBEARER also creates its attack, making the LAVA SPIDER eliminated in the game. At this moment, my final two monsters fights back. They both attack SHIELDBEARER, making it eliminated in the game.
Now, the two front lines are TIME MAGE and SERPENTINE SPY. Will the both them can resist all the attacks?
ROUND 3: THE REVENGEFUL COMBAT
For the third round, TIME MAGE attacks first followed by PELACOR ARBALEST and that eliminates the SERPENTINE SPY. Now, TENYII STRIKER is the only card left. TENYII STRIKER takes revenge as it made a successful attack on TIME MAGE, making it eliminated in the game. With that, PELACOR ARBALEST placed on the first position. As we all know, range attack monsters cannot make an attack in the first position, unless they have an ability to do it. On that case, victory was ensured.
Round 4 continues but PELACOR ARBALEST cannot do anything but to accept the attacks.
CONCLUSION
Overall, the battle is very intense. Each cards shows their own power very well. For the LAVA SPIDER, it did good. The monster contributes for the overall offense and defense. The only thing that becomes an issue is its low range attack. But that can be improved by a summoner. Next time, I will try to find a better position for this monster in order to maximize its ability.
