Setbacks Happen
For the last few days, I have been unable to post here and have had to deal with some personal issues. Involved in those issues were some expenses that I would have rather avoided, but was unable to and thus had to sell some Hive and most of my Splinterlands assets.
From one point of view, it sucks that I had to liquidate something that I was very intent on building up. From another point of view, it is really cool that there was a market that wanted to purchase digital assets from me so I could handle my business.
I've decided to take a very positive outlook on this situation and view it from the second point of view. I have always marveled at how technological innovation has been evaluated financially and this NFT and web3 craze has been absolutely mind-bending to me. Yet, I feel like it is just getting started.
There are now millions of people en route to Splinterlands and as a result quite a few thousand will start to use Hive as well. With limited game assets in Splinterlands and the race to establish a good reputation score on Hive before new members flood in, there is never a better time than the present to build on what you have.
At any given moment we may have something come up in life that will completely derail our savings or investing plans, that's just how things work I suppose. What is important is having goals in the first place, the timeline may not be so black and white, but the overall goal must be. When it comes to Splinterlands, I have that plan in mind, and when it comes to Hive that plan involves getting back into posting every day (and not just crap posting, I need to start finding topics that really interest me and doing a deeper dive into it).
We all have the ability to follow other people on the blockchain and to post and comment every day. With enough persistence (something that I have admittedly lacked lately), we are able to grow our influence and make a real impact (and possibly a real living) on Hive.
Whatever your goals or plan may be, I wish you the best of luck in pursuing it, I will be pursuing mine with some real intent this time around.

Using emergency funds sucks, not having emergency funds to spend sucks even worse.
Let's get busy building your assets back!

Agreed, putting half of my earnings back into SL, hoping to be back soon. Thanks for the motivation!
Sucks that you had to sell your Splinterlands assets! On the bright side, with Splinterlands prices as high as they've been, you probably did pretty well.
Yes not so bad, hoping to get them back over the next 2-3 weeks!

It's too bad but I am sure you can build it back up over time on HIVE. At least you didn't have to go get a loan and get into debt to cover your expenses.

Exactly, I'm confident I'll be back to where I was in just a few weeks time. I am glad I was able to cover it with what I had!

You have power over your mind - not outside events. Realize this, and you will find strength

Very well said, something that I need to be able to remember on a regular basis!

That's why we need to save money so that the money we save will save us, emergency money can come anytime it is normal. You will come back stronger I believe that

You may lose a battle of two, but still win the war. It is good that you had what to liquidate. This is the point of crypto, after all, to help us improving our life. Not to hoard them.
