Hello Everyone! Hope you all are doing great and welcome to another #Splinterlands post.
It's time for another #Splinterlands Card Spotlight, and today I'm taking a look at Rune Arcanist.
This is a Rare Earth / Water unit, and honestly, it has one of the more unique ability combinations I've seen recently.
When I first looked at the artwork, I expected another magic support card.
But after reading through all four abilities, I realized this monster is built to slowly wear the enemy team down while becoming stronger itself.
That's actually a pretty fun design.
Let's have a closer look.

Before talking about the abilities, here's a quick look at the stats.
Mana Cost: 7
Attack: 2 Magic
Health: 8
Armor: 2
Speed: 3
The stats aren't flashy, but they feel balanced.
Eight health gives it decent survivability, while magic damage means it can ignore armor when attacking.
It's clearly not supposed to be your main damage dealer.
Instead, it feels more like a support monster that keeps making life harder for your opponent every single round.

Weaken: -1 max health to all enemy units.

The first ability is Weaken.
This reduces the maximum health of every enemy monster by 1.
It might not sound like much, but across an entire team, that's actually a lot of health removed before the battle even starts.
Sometimes one missing health point is all it takes to secure a knockout.

Phase Ward: At the start of battle, the unit in front of this unit gains Phase.

The second ability is Phase Ward.
At the start of battle, the monster standing in front of Rune Arcanist gains Phase.
That means your frontline can dodge Magic attacks just like physical attacks.
I honestly think that's a really nice support ability, especially against teams that rely heavily on magic damage.

Cripple: -1 to target's max health after each successful attack.

Next comes Cripple.
Every successful attack reduces the target's maximum health by 1.
So not only does Rune Arcanist weaken the entire enemy team before the battle, it keeps reducing health during the fight as well.
I like abilities that slowly build pressure over time.
Your opponent might not notice it immediately, but after a few rounds, those missing health points really add up.

Scavenger: +1 health and max health each time any unit is defeated.

The final ability is Scavenger.
Every time any monster dies, Rune Arcanist gains +1 maximum health.
This is probably my favorite ability on the card.
As battles get longer, Rune Arcanist keeps becoming harder to eliminate.
It's always satisfying watching a support monster slowly turn into a tank.

Personally, I think this card fits really well into slower battles.
The longer the fight lasts, the more value you get from Cripple and Scavenger.
I'd also consider using it whenever I expect my opponent to bring a lot of magic attackers.
Giving your frontline Phase could make a huge difference.
And starting every battle with Weaken already active is never a bad thing.

After looking through everything, these are the things I liked the most.
Four useful abilities.
Weaken affects the whole enemy team.
Cripple keeps reducing enemy health.
Scavenger makes the card stronger over time.
Phase Ward gives extra protection to your frontline.
Fits into both Earth and Water teams.
That's honestly a lot of value packed into one Rare card.

Of course, it isn't perfect.
A few small weaknesses stood out.
Only 2 Magic damage.
Needs longer battles to get full value from Scavenger.
Doesn't have high armor.
Probably isn't the best choice in very fast, aggressive matches.
Still, I think its utility easily makes up for those weaknesses.

After reading through all four abilities, I honestly think Rune Arcanist is one of those cards that quietly carries games without getting all the attention.
It weakens enemies before the fight.
It protects your frontline.
It reduces enemy health every time it attacks.
And then it keeps growing stronger as monsters start falling.
That's a pretty complete support package.
I wouldn't call it the flashiest card in #Splinterlands, but sometimes the strongest cards are the ones working in the background while the rest of your team gets the spotlight.
I'll definitely be looking forward to trying Rune Arcanist in more Earth and Water lineups.
I have a feeling this card can be surprisingly annoying to play against.
Anyway thats it for todayโs #Splinterlands grind. Please do give your reviews in the comments section below. I would really appreciate it :)
I'll be back with another one soon. So do follow me if you want to stay updated. Till then, Stay Happy and Stay Hydrated.
