Voucher Value: Will it Hold?
While watching the markets, you might be wondering what's happening at the moment with the Chaos Legion presale and the new voucher system in place. Are people selling their vouchers or holding onto them like collectibles for an art gallery, hoping the value will increase with time? Let's talk about what happened with the first voucher drop to today's sales and consider what might happen for the future (remembering it's just a guess, not financial advice).
Voucher Sales
That first night was a wild ride. You couldn't post the vouchers fast enough, and they were ripped from your hands. Imagine back in the days what it would have been like at a real marketplace when the new items arrived! At least here the "pushing and shoving" is virtual. I believe the highest price I saw for the vouchers was over 30 HIVE per voucher, which I happily sold at that price. Did it get higher? Does anyone recall? I'd love to know.
Now, the price is holding steady around 24 HIVE. It's been there for a couple days now, so is this the determined value of the voucher? Has the market settled on a price? If we sold one voucher per day for 30 days, that's 690 HIVE. Now 24 HIVE at the time I wrote this was just under $20 USD ($19.88 exactly, but let's make this easy math, shall we?). That's just under $600 and it's a FREE DROP daily from Splinterlands, just because you play the game. WOW! It's insane. That's my Christmas shopping, DONE!
Actually, maybe I should make little "golden tickets" like the ones in Willy Wonka but these say "VOUCHERS" and gives those as stocking stuffers! Will they be worth $20 come Christmastime, guys?? What do you think? Yes or no?
Chaos Legions Presale Packs
What I've noticed with the presale packs is sale numbers so far are low. Now folks, this isn't because no one wants these packs. I mean EVERYONE in the Splinterlands' community has been chomping at the bit to get these packs, so there's more to the story here for sure. I have a feeling we're all waiting to hear about that "big meeting" Aggroed and Matt were having Friday afternoon about the future of Chaos Legions. It's like we're all listening in on the other side of the door to see how we should act.
Meanwhile, others may be holding onto these precious "golden tickets" because it benefits you to purchase the packs in bulk for that amazing bonus!! Who's going for that? Gosh I wish I could get that 1000 pack deal, because actually you only need to get 870 if you do the bonuses correctly. :)
Vouchers Worth It?
Oh I think the vouchers most certainly are worth it, but it will be very interesting to see what happens over the course of this month. I'd love to hear your thoughts about it. When it hits close to 30 days, how much MORE do you think the price of vouchers will increase? I'm betting QUITE A LOT. Each day that goes buy is a day for more opportunities. That's what makes Splinterlands such a marvelous way to build your crypto. You can have a lazy weekend and play a few tournaments, brawls, battles, etc. You can spend your time playing the market a bit, selling here, buying there, reading up on what's happening in the world to get ready for the next rise or fall. No one can really know, right? It's like taking that axe, hitting the rock and hoping you'll strike gold!
Voucher Outcome
We shall see what becomes of the golden ticket. I am enjoying all the quite whispers here and there about what may happen. Does anyone have the tea on that big meeting on Friday? I'd REALLLY like to know what was discussed. Aggroed said eventually you won't need vouchers to buy packs, but if all we need are packs right now in the game to get some collection power going, you can BET those packs are going to be quite far down the line before we can get them without vouchers, and I FEEL like there's no time to waste here.

The amount of hive you spend on vouchers seems pretty consistent so far (20-24), but the price of hive is changing constatly so that's unexpected.
Anyway someone has to buy those packs right?
Or there will be a lot of people holding handfuls of virtual paper in the end. Sure these vouchers are gonna continue to drop by the sounds of it, but the value is in the promos right now.
I suppose I need to watch the market closely then! Maybe I can grab a deal or two!! Do you think these vouchers will hold value afterwards? They say they are going to be VERY important to the game economy.
I want to believe that the more the days accumulate, the more people have the chance to grow their voucher drops, on the last day, some people will get their firsts, some their 3rd, some their 100th, so it means they will perhaps need to purchase lesser vouchers from the market. This might lead to lesser demands in vouchers.
I think this analogy is why it is declining in price from the first day. I might be wrong.
Value afterwards also depends on how interesting the value prop is going to be but one thing is sure, if Splinterlands say it’ll be scarce, best believe so.
So, after reading your post, it occurred to me that the reason I can't buy vouchers for a nickel apiece like I want to is because no one has been spreading any FUD about vouchers. So in the next day or two I'll be rounding up several of the most popular prognosticators on HIVE and paying them to write several articles about how the price of vouchers will crash any second now. Then when everyone panics and dumps theirs on the market, I'll just scoop up all I need.
What do you think, think it will work?

Pretty sure the price will fall over the next week or so. How far? No clue. Maybe below 20 HIVE? It doesn't look like it wants to go much lower than that. After that, I think it starts ramping back up to the end of the pre-sale with the prices probably getting higher almost every day as people become more and more desperate to hit their "bonus" levels. I sold a couple early. Now I'm going to see if the price comes down enough to warrant buying them back. If it does, maybe I'll try and hit a bonus level as well. But, I'm only going to get about 30 total so buying another 20 for 400-500 HIVE seems rather foolish. I could just sell the 30 for 600-800 HIVE and use that money to buy packs later. OR just buy cards I want once they come out.
In the meantime, it's fun to watch...

I get a VOUCHER every 4 days, in about an hour I should get a whole VOUCHER for my second purchase of a pack, for me I'd rather buy the packs with my VOUCHERS, the benefit of boosting my SPS drop is a sweet one. HODLing the VOUCHER or selling isn't an option for me.
Watching that voucher drop a half or quarter of a voucher is seriously so painful, isn't it? HAHAHA Drives me batty!! I REALLLY would like to get some bonus packs; it's going to depend on so many factors that I just have to be patient and see. I think you're quite wise to spend yours on the packs. Since I do not have that much SPS staked, I decided to sell all I received every day. 3-4 USD a day is very sweet which I automatically reinvest in the game by buying cards and now I am slowly building my power so I can stop renting in the future.
Where to see the sales statistics? I'm so curious about how is the presale going.
The voucher price is still way too high, i doubt Dr Blights charm above 10$ :D
You see it on the leadboards on Splinterlands, which you can get to when you go to the shop page and under "Pre-Sale Power Perks" you see "Leaderboard" in a sort of orange/yellow box. Click there and you have access to how many packs have sold. Here's the latest number:

When you combine all of the value that is actully packed into the voucher its some serious business. 300 for the pack, 15 airdrops of new cards, special airdrop of a unique card and the value in terms of SPS, points for the SPS airdrop etc. That little voucher holds a pretty big punch.

In all honesty, I just hope, the voucher sale ends after presale. I want to buy packs, but I won't buy vouchers and I am at 0,2 vouchers with my mere 90 staked SPS. I want to participate in this awesome game, but I won't bancrupt myself for it.

Nice post. Thanks for sharing. Can Voucher tokens be used even after the airdrop has expired or must they be used before the airdrop ends?
Vouchers will continue to be used even after the presale, although with a bit of a pause apparently between the presale and the launch. Vouchers are now going to an important token for any of the "extras" in Splinterlands so they do have quite a bit of importance moving forward. I hope that helps you!!
