Como não jogar com o "Giant Roc"! / How not to play the "Giant Roc"!

Como eu estou há algum tempo sem postar nenhum artigo por aqui (graças à tudo que estou preparando pra trazer para vocês e a Hive, além do meu recente projeto da @mobilenoobs), decidi participar mais uma vez do Weekly Battle Challenge oferecido pelo perfil oficial do game, @splinterlands.

Since I haven't posted any articles here for a while (due to everything I'm preparing to bring you and Hive, plus my recent @mobilenoobs project), I decided to participate once more in the Weekly Battle Challenge offered by the game's official profile, @splinterlands.

Mas minha intenção com esse artigo, vai um pouco mais além de mostrar "como eu consigo me sair bem em qualquer situação" (sarcasmo) ou "meu nível de intelecto" (mais um sarcasmo)...
Eu cometi um erro na minha lineup, e quero compartilhar isso, principalmente com você que é novato…

But my intention in this article goes a little further than showing "how I can come out well in any situation" (sarcasm) or "my level of intellect" (another sarcasm)...
I made a mistake in my lineup, and I want to share that, especially with you who are noobs...

Passarinho Colossal / Colossal Bird

Essa foi uma das primeiras cartas com as quais eu tive contato ao entrar em Splinterlands, e eu pensava que se tratava de um pássaro normal (iludido) ou de uma fênix … Até perceber que era um pássaro parecido com uma águia, 20 vezes maior que um elefante (animal que ela carrega em suas patas)!!

This was one of the first cards I came in contact while when entering Splinterlands, and I thought it was a normal (deluded) bird or a phoenix… Until I realized it was a bird like an eagle, 20 times larger than an elephant (an animal it carries on its feet)!!

Observando esse bicho, eu me pergunto: O QUE DIABOS ESSES MONSTROS DO SPLINTERLANDS ESTÃO TOMANDO?! BIOTÔNICO FONTOURA?!
Nota: não… Eu não estou sendo patrocinado pra falar isso. Na verdade, nem sei se esse treco ainda existe. 😂

Watching this beast, I ask myself: WHAT THE HELL ARE THESE SPLINTERLANDS MONSTERS TAKING?! BIOTÔNICO FONTOURA (Brazilian supplement, often used against anemia)?!
Note: no… I am not being sponsored to say this. In fact, I don't even know if this thing still exists. 😂

A batalha e os erros / The battle and the mistakes

Primeiro, vamos às condições de batalha: eu estou com um tempo bem escasso, então, estou investindo bem pouco em Splinterlands, já que não vou poder jogar tanto quanto antes pra recuperar o que eu gastar. Em consequência, voltei pra liga bronze. Ou seja: constantes batalhas quase sem restrições.
E nessa, não foi diferente: nenhum efeito de campo foi ativado durante a batalha, que teve apenas 17 de mana cap!

First, let's get to the battle conditions: I've very little time, so I'm investing very little in Splinterlands as I won't be able to play as much as I used to, to regain what I spend. As a result, I went back to the bronze alloy. In other words: constant battles almost without restrictions.
And this one was no different: no field effects were activated during the battle, which had only 17 mana cap!

Minha lógica durante a batalha, foi utilizar a Tarsa como invocadora, pra aumentar o dano e HP das minhas cartas (principalmente do Giant Roc).
Depois selecionei o Living Lava pra segurar danos físicos (tanto melee quanto ranged).
Logo atrás, posicionei o Giant Roc pra servir de segundo tanker e ajudar a derrotar o tanker adversário, já que essa é uma carta com as habilidades "Fly" (que aumenta as chances de evasão) e "Reach" (que permite atacar desde a segunda posição).
Por último coloquei o Radiated Schorcher, já que estava sobrando mana e ele possui ataque melee, o que talvez fosse o suficiente se os dois primeiros tankers falhassem. Também coloquei ele pra tomar o primeiro dano de um possível adversário com a habilidade "Sneak" (que faz a carta em questão atacar a carta do adversário que estiver na última posição).

My logic during the battle was to use Tarsa as a summoner, to increase the damage and HP of my cards (mainly from Giant Roc).
Then I selected Living Lava to hold physical damage (both melee and ranged).
Right after, I positioned the Giant Roc to serve as a second tank and help defeat the opposing tank, as this is a card with the abilities "Fly" (which increases the chances of evasion) and "Reach" (which allows attacking from second position).
Lastly I put in the Radiated Schorcher, as it had a lot of mana and it has melee attack, which might be enough if the first two tanks failed. I also put it to take the first damage from a possible opponent with the ability "Sneak" (which makes the card attack the opponent's card that is in the last position).

Nesse momento, se você é minimamente experiente em Splinterlands e prestou a atenção nas limitações da partida, você vai notar os erros na minha formação…

At this point, if you are minimally experienced in Splinterlands and have paid attention to the game's limitations, you will notice the errors in my formation…

Pra quem ainda não entendeu:
1 - Quase nunca é recomendado gastar 7 de mana com uma única carta, quando a mana cap está abaixo de 19, a menos que seja por uma carta com grande potencial de decidir a partida… E eu gastei esses 7 de mana no Living Lava, que era o tanker.

For those who still don't understand:
1 - It is almost never recommended to spend 7 mana with a single card, when the mana cap is below 19, unless it is for a card with great potential to decide the game… And I spent those 7 mana on Living Lava, who was the tanker.

2 - Depois de todas as atualizações que rolaram, é extremamente arriscado não colocar counters de cartas com ataque mágico, mesmo que o adversário utilize muita carta de ataque físico.

2 - After all the updates that were taken, it is extremely risky not to put counters of cards with magic attack, even if the opponent uses a lot of physical attack cards.

3 - Utilizar apenas cartas com ataques melee, me deixou em risco. Esse é o tipo de ataque é o mais fácil de dar counter. Bastava uma ou mais cartas do adversário com a habilidade "Thorn" (que causa dano ao encostar no monstro) que eu não teria chance de vencer. Cartas com muita armadura, também me complicariam.

3 - Using only cards with melee attacks left me at risk. This is the type of attack that is easiest to counter. All it took was one or more opponent's cards with the ability "Thorn" (which deals damage when touching the monster) that I wouldn't have a chance to win. Cards with a lot of armor would also complicate me.

Além disso, minha última carta melee não possuía nenhuma habilidade pra atacar da posição dela… Então, apenas duas cartas estavam "ativas" na partida.
Ou seja: me arrisquei muito mais do que podia nessa batalha. Mas relaxem… Foi de propósito. Exatamente pra mostrar o que não fazer a partir da Liga Prata!

Besides that, my last melee card didn't have any ability to attack from its position... So only two cards were "active" in the game.
In other words: I risked much more than I could in this battle. But relax… It was on purpose. Just to show you what not to do after the Silver League!

Esse tipo de lineup, só costuma dar certo na Liga Bronze. Depois disso, evite montar esse tipo de estratégia, se puder. Recomendo que utilize pelo menos uma carta com ataque mágico, se possível.
Se o adversário tivesse utilizado o Goblin Psychic, teria vencido a partida, curando o Unicorn Mustang dele, e causando 2 de dano por rodada (sem errar nenhum ataque) ao Living Lava.
Faça como os reis de "The Witcher" (agora, série da Netflix): evite ir pra guerra sem levar um "maguinho"!

This type of lineup usually only works in the Bronze League. After that, avoid putting together this kind of strategy if you can. I recommend using at least one card with magic attack, if possible.
If the opponent had used the Goblin Psychic, he would have won the match, by healing his Unicorn Mustang, and dealing 2 damage per round (missing no attacks) to Living Lava.
Do like the kings of "The Witcher" (now a Netflix series): avoid going to war without taking a "wizard"!

Vale apena? / It is worth it?

Giant Roc é uma carta bem útil pra certas situações, e eu até gostava dela.
Mas levando em consideração as últimas atualizações, as batalhas estão exigindo cartas com outras habilidades.
Além disso, ela está na lista de cartas que foram removidas do deck básico, e agora ela só está disponível pra alugar ou comprar.

Giant Roc is a very useful card for certain situations, and I actually liked it.
But taking into account the latest updates, battles are demanding cards with other abilities.
Also, it's in the list of cards that have been removed from the base deck, and now it's only available to rent or buy.

Porém, o valor atual de aluguel do Giant Roc está em torno de 0.1 DEC (o mínimo permitido pelo sistema do game). Então, pode não ser uma das melhores cartas, mas é bem provável que eu alugue ela mais vezes…

However, the current rental value of Giant Roc is around 0.1 DEC (the minimum allowed by the game system). So, it might not be one of the best cards, but it's likely I'll rent it more often...
