Individual Contribution and Collective Victory in Splinterlands Brawl
![]()
Hello, Splinterlands warriors—how are you doing?
Entering January 2026, heading into the fourth week, the crypto world remains full of movement. SPS itself looks quite interesting in terms of price action. Not explosive, but enough to give hope. Like a light drizzle that slowly soaks the ground. Not bad—at least it keeps the spirit to play from fading. And this week, as usual, I’m back with a small set of notes—about losses, wins, and lessons that sometimes arrive without knocking.
For those who might be new or just passing by while sipping coffee, Brawl in Splinterlands is like a digital version of community service. One guild, one goal, and all members head into battle according to their respective frays. It’s not about being great individually, but about how neatly we work as a team.
As for this week’s brawl, I’m still comfortably—or perhaps fate hasn’t gotten bored yet—assigned to Fray 12. This fray isn’t a night market; it’s not crowded. But precisely because of that, every battle feels meaningful. There were 9 matches in total, and 4 of them were automatic wins because this fray wasn’t fully occupied by other guilds.

Unfortunately, from the matches that actually took place, I could only contribute 1 clean win. The remaining 4 matches I had to let go with a long sigh. Not because my cards were cheap, but because my brain wasn’t sharp enough at the time.

Even so, despite my modest personal contribution, the guild performed solidly. Out of 102 total wins, 306 points were secured, and our guild finished in first place. The final rewards were sweet:
Each full member received 2,100 Merits, and players with a spellbook earned 27.49 staked SPS.
That’s how brawl goes. Sometimes we lose individually, but win collectively. And honestly, that feeling feels more mature.
From the losses I experienced, there was one match that felt worthy of deeper reflection. This loss was purely my own mistake—because I failed to read the ruleset carefully. At higher levels of play, the ruleset is no longer just one or two. This time, there were three at once: This But Scratches, Close Range, and Beefcakes.

The problem is, I forgot one small detail with a big impact: Cripple. This effect reduces -1 max health every time a monster is hit. And what did I do? I focused on deploying a tank-and-healing team, hoping to survive longer.
The result was predictable. Healing, which is usually a reliable backbone—especially in the Life element—this time was no more than a flea crushed under a car tire. Captain Katie and the Iziar combination simply became easy targets for the Water and Dragon team. My strategy collapsed not because the opponent was a genius, but because I was careless.
And that’s where brawl teaches a simple lesson we often ignore:
misread the ruleset, and the entire plan is wrong.
And if you want to see the match where I got completely wrecked, you can check this link:
Beyond cards and strategy, there’s one thing that always keeps me coming back to brawl: the guild community. For new players, a guild is a school without a signboard. From casual chats, card discussions, to post-loss evaluations—everything helps us grow without feeling lectured. Brawl isn’t just a place to earn Merits; it’s also a place to learn how to be a more level-headed player.
For now, the SPS and Merits I earned will be saved again. It’s not time yet to open a Gladius Case. I’ll hold onto them while preparing a cooler head for the next brawl.
Don’t underestimate the ruleset, don’t be ashamed to lose, and if you can—join a guild that’s willing to share. Because in Splinterlands, strong cards matter, but a mind that’s willing to learn is far more valuable.
May SPS be kind, and may we not forget to read the small print in the corner of the ruleset.
