Maud Stonefoot & Bloodline Pact: Smart Strategy or Big Risk?

Hello Splinterlands warriors, how are you holding up on the battlefield as we approach the end of the season? Hopefully you’re still pushing your rank strong, even though matchmaking sometimes makes us take a long, deep breath 😄
This time, I want to share a bit about a new card that really made me think twice—somewhere between “this is OP” and “this is a total trap”—and that is Maud Stonefoot.
The first time I saw Maud Stonefoot, I honestly underestimated it. The stats looked average. The damage isn’t high, and the health isn’t impressive either. But the moment I noticed one thing—0 mana—I immediately stopped scrolling.

Seriously, in a game like Splinterlands, a 0-mana card always has some “sneaky” potential. And since this is a magic unit, it can attack from any position. So even if it’s just a “filler,” it still contributes damage.
That’s when I started thinking, “Okay… this isn’t just any card.”
At a glance, Maud Stonefoot really does feel like a filler. But that’s exactly where its strength lies:
- 0 mana = extremely flexible
- Magic attack = always active from the backline
- Can combo with Marlai Singariel (magic boost)
And of course, the most interesting part is its ability: Bloodline Pact.

Here’s how it works (and yes, I misunderstood it at first):
- When a unit with the same bloodline (in this case, Dwarf) kills an enemy → all Dwarves gain +1 damage
- But when a Dwarf dies → all Dwarves take 1 true damage
- And if Maud Stonefoot dies → all bonuses are removed + all Dwarves take 2 damage
On paper? It’s amazing. It can snowball like a team-wide Bloodlust effect.
In practice? Well… this card really taught me the meaning of “risk management.”
The Most Surprising Part
What surprised me the most is:
- This card looks weak… but can be the key to victory
- Its ability looks powerful… but can also cause your defeat
And that’s where the beauty lies. Maud Stonefoot isn’t an “auto-win” card—it’s a card that makes you think. Honestly, most players will probably lose a few times before they truly understand how to use it properly.
What I Learned
After seeing it in several matches, I finally started to “get it.” The key isn’t big damage—it’s keeping it alive. You need to be disciplined with a strong tank or a Taunt unit in front, because once a Dwarf falls, the effect hits your entire team—and it’s not pretty.
I also learned not to stack Dwarves carelessly. At first, I thought the more the better, but without proper sustain, it just backfires. Timing is crucial too—if you can secure early kills, the snowball effect starts to kick in and gradually boosts your team’s performance.
In the end, I see Maud Stonefoot not as the main star, but as a “silent enabler.” It doesn’t look flashy, but when used correctly, it can turn your entire team into something far more dangerous.
In my opinion, abilities like Bloodline Pact make Splinterlands gameplay much more dynamic. Now it’s not just about damage or speed, but also about bloodline synergy. And honestly, it makes the game feel more alive and less monotonous.
In the end, Maud Stonefoot is like that quiet friend who doesn’t stand out at first—but once you understand them, they can become the key to your success. But handle it wrong, and it might slowly cost you the game 😄
So, have you tried this card yet? Are you winning more… or getting hit by its backfire instead?
