New Season, Spending Glint, and Surprises in Splinterlands

Hey, welcome back to my mid-month post! A new season has also kicked off in Splinterlands, and this time I want to share my story about what I managed to collect this season while playing in Wild mode.

This season, I tried sharpening my skills again, and the results were pretty exciting. I managed to gather around 60,000 Glint throughout the season. With some Glint I had saved up earlier, I finally decided to take the plunge and open some Major Chests and Ultimate Chests.

For my first experiment, I went with 10 Ultimate Chests. Spending 45,000 Glint, the results were a bit mixed. Out of the 10 chests, only 3 contained cards, but I did get 3 BCX Rare Gold cards.

The rest were mostly energy, but the merit rewards were surprisingly solid—almost the same as what I usually get from brawls. So even though it wasn’t a jackpot, it still felt worthwhile.

Curiosity got the better of me, so I decided to try opening 50 Major Chests. Honestly, I prefer this route over buying cards directly with Glint, because the thrill of waiting for surprises is much more fun. And sure enough, the results made me smile.

At first, I was already happy to see 2 Common Gold cards—a nice little warm-up.

Then suddenly, one of the chests started shaking, and my heart skipped a beat. Just as I hoped, inside was a Legendary CHAOS BATTLE MAGE card! It felt like hitting a bonus round. This card is definitely a powerful addition to my neutral lineup.

And the surprises didn’t stop there. From other chests, I also pulled a Giant Alpine Skink (Common Gold) and 3 BCX of the Epic Olivia of the Book. Honestly, this haul was more than enough. If I count everything, I feel like I got back more than the Glint I spent.

On top of that, the chests also rewarded me with merit. In total, I collected 13,848 Merit, which was enough to grab 6 Gladius packs. Since I was already hyped, I went ahead and opened them right away.

Unfortunately, it seemed like my luck had run out after the Major Chests. From the 6 Gladius packs, I mostly got Common and Rare cards, without any Gold cards like before. Still, I was happy, since it added more to my collection and gave me cards I could level up.

Looking back, this was quite an experience. There were thrilling moments when the chest shook, and also small letdowns when the rewards were more standard—but that’s Splinterlands: always full of surprises that keep you coming back.

From a strategy standpoint, I learned that Glint holds a lot of potential—not just for buying cards directly, but also through chests that can yield unexpected treasures. Plus, the role of the Guild is huge. The extra merit and Glint bonuses from guild activities really boosted my progress. If new players understood this strategy early on—being active in guilds and maximizing Glint gains—they’d grow so much faster.

In the end, I think Splinterlands isn’t just about cards or battles—it’s also about the thrill of chasing surprises and building long-term assets. If you’re still hesitant to try, go for it. Who knows? You might be the next one to pull a Legendary from a chest!

See you in the arena—and may your packs be luckier than mine! 😄
