Opening 300 Common Draws: When Patience Turns Into Card Upgrades

avatar

Hello, Splinterlands warriors,

Last season turned out to be one of the busiest seasons I've ever played. I deliberately challenged myself by playing three game modes at once to see just how far my collection and strategies could compete. The results were more satisfying than I expected. Besides enjoying a wider variety of battles, I also managed to accumulate more than 210,000 Glint.

That amount certainly didn't come easily. It came from countless victories, a fair share of defeats, and many small decisions that ultimately shaped my season's final outcome.

Before spending all of it, I decided to strengthen my Exemplar until it reached Level 25. To me, that was a long-term investment that will become even more valuable as future features continue to expand.

But after finishing that upgrade, one question kept lingering in my mind.

What should I do with the remaining Glint?

The answer eventually landed on something that may seem simple, but is honestly one of my favorite ways to spend Glint.

Common Draws.

I used every bit of my remaining Glint to open 300 Common Draws in one go.

Honestly, opening hundreds of cards at once always brings a unique kind of excitement. You already know that most of what you'll receive are common cards, but that's exactly where the fun lies. You're not chasing a single expensive card—instead, you're collecting countless small pieces that gradually grow into something much more powerful.

You can see the complete opening results here:

👉 COMMON DRAW 👈

As soon as I pressed Flip All, card after card began filling the screen. At first, everything looked exactly as expected. Common cards kept appearing one after another.

But as more cards were revealed, I started to feel why opening such a large batch is different.

And then, the surprise I had been waiting for finally appeared.

A Gold Foil card.

It turned out to be Cullborn Revenant.

Even though it was only a single Gold Foil card, it instantly changed the atmosphere. There's always something satisfying about seeing that golden glow appear among a sea of common cards. Besides making the collection look more impressive, Gold Foil cards also carry additional value if I ever decide to use them or eventually burn them for Glint.

Looking back, however, the Gold Foil wasn't actually the biggest reward of this opening.

What made me happiest was the huge number of card copies (BCX) I managed to collect.

One by one, my BCX totals kept increasing.

Eventually, one particular card that I had been waiting to upgrade finally reached the required number of copies.

Stonebind Matron.

As soon as I had enough copies, I upgraded it immediately. What made the moment even more satisfying was that at its new level, Stonebind Matron finally unlocked a new ability.

That was the milestone I had been aiming for all along.

Sometimes players become so focused on chasing legendary cards that they overlook something much more impactful. Unlocking just one additional ability on a frequently used common card can often make a much bigger difference in actual battles.

After opening 300 Common Draws, I'm even more convinced that the current Glint system gives players the freedom to shape their collections however they prefer.

If your goal is to hunt for rarer cards, higher-tier draws are always an option.

But if you're looking to strengthen the foundation of your collection like I am, Common Draws make perfect sense.

For newer players, I genuinely think this strategy is worth considering. Don't underestimate common cards simply because they're labeled "common." These are often the cards that progress the fastest as your BCX grows. Once they level up and unlock new abilities, many of them become key pieces in a wide variety of team compositions.

I've also noticed that the Splinterlands community often shares the same perspective. Many experienced players recommend not focusing exclusively on expensive cards, but instead building a solid collection little by little. Once your common cards become stronger, your strategic options expand dramatically.

And I'm finally starting to experience those benefits myself.

Each new season feels just a little easier because I now have more upgraded cards ready to handle different rulesets.

In the end, opening 300 Common Draws delivered exactly what I had hoped for. I added a Gold Foil Cullborn Revenant to my collection, gained plenty of extra BCX across numerous cards, and most importantly, Stonebind Matron finally reached a new level and unlocked the new ability I had been waiting for.

Now my next objective is already clear.

Earn more Glint.

Because I know that every season isn't just about winning battles. It's also about steadily building a stronger collection, one upgrade at a time, until one day every card I frequently rely on reaches its maximum potential.

And I have a feeling that journey is going to be just as enjoyable as the destination.
