SURGEHAMMER and SURGEBLADE: The Djinn Duo That Keeps Your Lineup Running Smoothly
![]()
Hello, Splinterlands warriors! I hope victory is always on your side in the arena. This time, I'd like to share my experience with two cards that have recently caught my attention: SURGEHAMMER and SURGEBLADE. Both belong to the Djinn family and have very different playstyles, but when combined in the right lineup, they create a remarkably solid team.
Getting to Know SURGEHAMMER
SURGEHAMMER is a card that I find quite unique because it doesn't just deal damage—it also helps the team survive much longer. At level 1, it already comes with Flying and Opportunity, allowing it to target the enemy monster with the lowest Health while staying safely behind the front line.

This ability is incredibly useful for picking off enemy support monsters that usually hide in the back. At level 4, SURGEHAMMER gains Cleanse, removing negative status effects from the friendly monster in the first position every round. Then, at level 8, it unlocks Repair, restoring 2 Armor to the ally that has taken the most Armor damage.
For me, the combination of Opportunity, Cleanse, and Repair makes SURGEHAMMER more than just an attacker. It's a versatile support unit that helps maintain the momentum of the battle while quietly dismantling the opponent's strategy.
Getting to Know SURGEBLADE
SURGEBLADE, on the other hand, is built for offense. At level 1, it immediately gains Charge, allowing it to perform melee attacks from any position on the battlefield. At level 3, it unlocks Reveal, which removes the Camouflage ability from enemy monsters every round.

Once fully upgraded, SURGEBLADE gains Blast, causing its attacks to deal an additional 50% damage to adjacent enemy units. Considering it only costs 5 mana, I think it's one of the most efficient melee attackers for applying constant pressure throughout a match.
My Experience in the Arena
I recently tested SURGEHAMMER and SURGEBLADE together in a battle that turned out to be surprisingly intense. My opponent fielded Gorgug the Endless alongside a heavy-damage lineup featuring Coralforged, Blue Wyrm Travesty with its devastating 8 melee damage, Darkguard Ironwing, Archer Koi providing Repair, Jicarilla the Rime with Cleanse, and Sten Slatehelm.

My own lineup consisted of Commander Slade, Surgeblade, Surgehammer, Tidal Tsunamist with Repair, Steppe Stalker, and Chaos Battle Mage, supported by Prophet Rosa's +2 Ranged Damage buff.
The Turning Point
During the battle, SURGEHAMMER proved to be one of the most valuable cards on my team. My tank was hit with the Halving debuff, significantly reducing its damage output. Fortunately, SURGEHAMMER's Cleanse immediately removed the negative effect, allowing my frontline to return to full fighting strength.

Its Opportunity ability also played a crucial role by targeting Archer Koi, the enemy support monster that continuously repaired its team's Armor. Once Archer Koi was eliminated, my opponent's defensive line quickly began to crumble.
Meanwhile, SURGEBLADE kept applying relentless pressure through its Charge attacks, adding consistent melee damage from the backline. Together, the two Djinn gradually destabilized what initially looked like an incredibly durable enemy formation.
You can watch the complete battle here:
What Makes Them Stand Out
- SURGEHAMMER is extremely versatile, serving as both an attacker and a support unit thanks to Cleanse and Repair.
- SURGEBLADE delivers powerful offensive pressure with Charge, Reveal, and eventually Blast.
- Both cards fit naturally into melee-focused lineups.
- Together, they allow your team to stay aggressive while keeping your frontline stable throughout the fight.
Final Thoughts and Strategy
Personally, I'm genuinely impressed by the synergy between SURGEHAMMER and SURGEBLADE. Each one fills a different role, yet they complement each other perfectly. SURGEHAMMER keeps the team stable and removes dangerous debuffs, while SURGEBLADE focuses on maintaining offensive momentum.
If you own one—or even better, both—of these cards, I'd definitely recommend trying them in a melee-oriented composition with a durable tank leading the charge. Keep SURGEHAMMER in a protected position so it can maximize the value of Cleanse and Opportunity, while allowing SURGEBLADE to pressure your opponent from virtually anywhere on the battlefield.
My overall impression is simple: this Djinn duo may not always steal the spotlight, but when used with the right strategy, they can make your lineup significantly more efficient, more balanced, and much harder to break in the arena.
