Analyze Opponents Well and Show the Power of Strategy | Splinterlands Social Media Challenge

Of course, it is very important to have powerful cards and a rich deck in the Splinterlands, but if we do not have a good strategy, we cannot benefit from the power of the cards as we want, so we need a good strategy as well as having powerful cards in battles. Frankly, sometimes even though my opponents are much more powerfull than me, I manage to defeat them with a good strategy, so I attach great importance to strategy in battles.

In order to determine a good strategy, I review the recent 5 battles of my opponents, then I determine my team's lineup, taking into account the rulesets of the battle, and send them to battle. If I can predict the opposing player's strategy, it can be very easy for my team to win the battle, no matter how powerful the opposing team is. It can sometimes be very difficult or unsuccessful to strategize against Monsters that can attack twice each round (one of which is a magic attack), such as Agor Longtail and Quora Towershead, especially in battles with the Wands Out ruleset. Today I will talk about one of my most preferred strategies against them and which has been successful in many battles, I hope it will be useful to you. Let's examine my strategy in a battle.

BATTLE

Battle Link

Battle Ruleset

  • Armored Up: All Monsters have 2 Armor in addition to their normal Armor stat.
  • Wands Out: Only Monsters with Magic attack may be used in battles.
  • Are You Not Entertained?: One additional Gladiator card may be used in battles.

MY STRATEGY

Before starting the battle, when I reviewed the recent 5 battles of the opposing player and considered the rulesets of the battle, I predicted that the opposing player would use Quora Towershead to the first position. And it was very difficult to win this battle by just attacking the first position, so I needed a better strategy. Quora Towershead could attack with both Magic Attacks and Melee Attacks, so I had to come up with a special strategy for her. Just taking precautions against Quora Towershead would not be enough, and I also needed a strategy to destroy the opposing team.

Actually, Affliction Ability could also be useful against her, but I didn't have a card with Affliction Ability suitable for this battle, also the chance of applying affliction is 50%, but the probability of the strategy that I will explain below to work is over 80%, even I can say more than 90% if the opposing team does not have a Monster with Affliction Ability. (By the way, this is just my opinion. If you have better strategies, I would appreciate it if you could mention them in the comments.)

First of all, I prefer Grandmaster Rathe as a Summoner in such battles because Grandmaster Rathe gives +1 Armor, Void Armor Ability, and Amplify Ability to all friendly monsters. In order for my strategy to work, the Monster in the first position must have at least 1 Armor and Void Armor Ability.

Secondly, I use the healing and repair to prevent the monster in the first position from being destroyed in 2 attacks. For example, in this battle, I will put Meriput Magician with the Tank Heal Ability in the first position, and Adelade Brightwing with the Repair Ability in the fourth position. For my strategy to work well, Meriput Magician must not be destroyed.

Thirdly, I use Taunt Ability, and I use Triage Ability to make the Monster with Taunt Ability harder to destroy. For example, in this battle, I put Iziar, who has the Taunt Ability and Void Ability, in the last position. When Triage Ability is used, it becomes very difficult for Magic Attack Monsters to destroy Iziar.

Although it is very difficult to overcome such a defensive approach, there is no perfect strategy, that is, there is no strategy that cannot be broken. For example, Affliction Ability, Rust Ability or Scattershot Ability can ruin this strategy. However, a team that does not have a Monster with any of these abilities has no chance against this strategy. (These are the abilities that come to my mind, if you know of another ability that can destroy this strategy, I would be very happy if you mention it in the comments.)

To win the battle, just defending is not enough; a good strategy is also required to destroy the opposing team. In this battle, I thought it would be difficult to win this battle by just attacking the monster in the first position, so I will use the Snipe Ability. Snipe Ability is an ability that many players do not expect in such battles and can disrupt many strategies. My plan in this battle was to destroy the opposing team's backline with Captain Katie, who has the Snipe Ability and the Bloodlust Ability.

This strategy is my favorite in this type of battle and works quite well in most battles. Of course, there are strategies that can beat this strategy, and I briefly mentioned it above.

LINE UP

Grandmaster Rathe is a Life Summoner who gives +1 Armor, Void Armor Ability, and Amplify Ability to all friendly monsters.

  • Void Armor Ability : Magic attacks hit this Unit's armor before its Health.
  • Amplify Ability : Increases Magic Reflect, Return Fire, and Thorns damage to all enemy units by 1.

Position 1: MERIPUT MAGICIAN

Meriput Magician is a Life Monster that can attack the target with a Magic Attack and has Tank Heal Ability at level 1.

  • Tank Heal Ability : Restores a third of max health to the Unit in the first position each round.

Position 2 : DAX PARAGON

Dax Paragon is a Life Monster that can attack the target with a Magic Attack and has Amplify Ability at level 2.

Position 3 : SPIRIT HOARDER

Spirit Hoarder is a Neutral Monster that can attack the target with a Magic Attack and has Triage Ability at level 1.

  • Triage Ability : Heals the friendly back-line Unit that has taken the most damage by a third of max health.

Position 4: ADELADE BRIGHTWING

Adelade Brightwing is a Life Monster that can attack the target with Magic Attacks and has Flying Ability, and Repair Ability at level 1.

  • Flying Ability : Has a 25% bonus chance of evading Melee or Ranged attacks from Units who do not have the Flying ability.
  • Repair Ability : Restores a third of max armor to the friendly Unit whose armor has taken the most damage.

Position 5: CAPTAIN KATIE

Captain Katie is a Life Gladiator that can attack the target with Magic Attacks and has Snipe Ability and Bloodlust Ability from level 1.

  • Snipe Ability : Targets the first enemy Unit with Ranged, Magic, or no attack that is not in the first position with Ranged or Magic attacks.
  • Bloodlust Ability This Monster revels in the glory of combat and becomes more dangerous as the battle goes on. Every time it defeats an opponent, it gets +1 to all stats.

Position 6: IZIAR

Iziar is a Life Monster that can attack the target with Magic Attacks and has Taunt Ability and Void Ability at level 1.

  • Taunt Ability : All enemy Units target this Unit (if they are able to).
  • Void Ability : Reduced damage from Magic attacks by 50%.

BATTLE COMMENTS

You can watch the entire battle from the video or from the Battle Link

To be honest, the opposing player's strategy was also very good, it was smart to put Quora Towershead with Heal Ability in the first position and use 2 Monsters with Tank Heal Ability. However, since I could predict the opponent's strategy, it was very difficult for the opponent's strategy to work in this battle.

When I saw the opposing team at the beginning of the battle, I already knew that I had won this battle because there was no monster in the opposing team that could destroy any monster in my team. That's what happened at the end of the battle.

The battle lasted 5 rounds, at the end of the battle, while all the monsters on the opposing team were destroyed, no monsters on my team could be destroyed, which clearly showed that my strategy worked quite well. You can watch the battle from the Battle Link or from the video above. I hope you will like it.

There is no perfect strategy or unbeatable team, but when you analyze your opponent and the battle rulesets well, your chances of winning the battle increase significantly.

What are your thoughts on the battle and my strategy? I would be glad if you write your thoughts in the comments.
