BATTLE MAGE SECRETS Weekly Challenge

RULESET: Earthquake

Description:

All non-flying units take 2 physical damage at the end of every turn.

Snared units are considered non-flying. Since the damage given is physical, it can be reduced to 1 if the unit has the shield ability.

In battles with the Earthquake ruleset, non-flying Monsters take 2 Melee damage at the end of each round. Therefore, it is more advantageous to use Monsters with the Flying Ability in battles with the Earthquake ruleset. Meanwhile, when Monsters with the Snare Ability attacking enemies with Flying, removes the Flying Ability and cannot miss. While it makes more sense to use Monsters with Flying Ability in battles with Earthquake ruleset, I can say that my strategy is a little different. I can honestly say that the Earthquake ruleset is one of my favorite rulesets because I can win most of these types of battles. In battles with the Earthquake ruleset, if I have the opportunity, I use Monsters with the Martyr Ability without hesitation. And I put Monster with Martyr ability next to Monster with Flying ability or Monster with Heal ability. Because when Monster with the Martyr Ability dies, adjacent Monsters get +1 to all stats. This can give my team an advantage in battle and I can honestly say this strategy works very well in most battles so I like the Earthquake ruleset. Let's examine this in a battle.

  • Lost Legendaries rule : Legendary Monsters may not be used in battles.
  • Briar Patch rule : All Monsters have the Thorns ability.

My Strategy

In battles with Earthquake ruleset, my favorite element is Earth, so I chose Earth element in this battle without hesitation. And in such battles, my primary preference is to use the Quora Towershead card, so I chose Lobb Lowland as the summoner. And I put Monsters with Martyr Ability to the left and right of Quora Towershead and put all three of them on the back line, which is what I would do in this battle. It's my favorite trio in this type of battle and really this strategy works very well. I've also added a monster with the Taunt Ability to the team so they won't be targeted by the opposing team at the start of the battle. And I thought it would be advantageous for all monsters in my team to have +2 armor, so I added Arkemis the Bear to the team. And just in case, I put a Monster with Flying Ability in the last position. In this way, I believed that I would have a better chance of winning this battle.

Line Up

Summoner : LOBB LOWLAND

I chose Lobb Lowland as the Summoner as I will be using one Gladiator card in this battle. Lobb Lowland allows the use of one additional Gladiator card in battle, and reduces the speed of all monsters on the opposing team by -1. I also believed that reducing the speed of all monsters on the opposing team by -1 in this battle would give my team an advantage.

Position 1: ARKEMIS THE BEAR

I believed that it would be advantageous for all monsters in my team to have +2 armor in this battle, so I added Arkemis the Bear to my team and put it in the first position. Since I was going to put a Monster with the Taunt Ability on the back line, it wouldn't be the first target of the enemies, so it was okay to put it in the first position. It was also a huge advantage that it had 11 health. Arkemis the Bear has Protect Ability and Halving Ability at level 4.

  • Protect Ability : All friendly Monsters gain +2 Armor.
  • Halving Ability : Each time this Monster hits a target, the target's attack is cut in half (rounded down).

Position 2: MYCELIC SLIPSPAWN

I put Mycelic Slipspawn in second position. The most important reason why I added Mycelic Slipspawn to my team in this battle was because it has the Taunt Ability. Because it had the Taunt Ability, enemies would target it first. I didn't want other monsters on my team to be targeted at the start of the battle.

  • Taunt Ability : All enemy Monsters target this Monster (if they are able to).

Position 3: VENARI MARKSRAT

The most important reason I added Venari Marksrat to my team in this battle was because it had the Martyr Ability. I knew that Venari Marksrat would be easily destroyed, which was already part of my strategy. I put Venari Marksrat in third position next to Quora Towershead. When Venari Marksrat died because it has the Martyr Ability, adjacent Monsters would get +1 to all stats. This would make the monsters adjacent to it more effective in battle.

  • Martyr Ability : When this Monster dies, adjacent Monsters get +1 to all stats.

Position 4: QUORA TOWERSHEAD

Quora Towershead is a very powerful Gladiator with powerful abilities that can attack targets with both Magic Attacks and Melee Attacks. Quora Towershead has the Bloodlust Ability and the Heal Ability at level 2. Quora Towershead can be very effective in battles thanks to her abilities, so I never hesitate to add her to my team whenever I get the chance. Also since she has the Bloodlust Ability, she can become much more dangerous in battles as the battle goes on. Also, since she has the Heal Ability, it is difficult to destroy her. I put Quora Towershead in the fourth position.

  • Heal Ability : Restores a portion of the Monster's health each round.
  • Bloodlust Ability : This Monster revels in the glory of combat and becomes more dangerous as the battle goes on. Every time it defeats an opponent, it gets +1 to all stats.

Position 5: FUNGUS FLINGER

The reason I added Fungus Flinger to my team in this battle is exactly the same as Venari Marksrat, so I won't go into detail. I put Fungus Flinger in fifth position next to Quora Towershead. My goal was to make Quora Towershead much more effective in battle. Fungus Flinger also has the Martyr Ability.

Position 6: GARGOYA DEVIL

Gargoyle Devil has the Flying Ability and the Close Range Ability and attacks the target with ranged attacks. The main reason I added Gargoya Devil to the team was because it has the Flying Ability, and I put it in the last position. I wanted to have a monster with Flying Ability in my team just in case. Gargoya Devil has the Flying Ability and the Close Range Ability.

  • Flying Ability : Has an increased chance of evading Melee or Ranged attacks from Monsters who do not have the Flying ability.
  • Close Range Ability : Monsters with the Close Range ability can perform ranged attacks from the first position.

Battle Comments

Round 1

Honestly, the opposing player's strategy was also very good, and the opposing team had 4 Monsters with the Flying Ability. It is wise to use Monsters with the Flying Ability in such battles. Also, the opposing team was much more powerful in terms of attack power. Frankly, at the beginning of the battle, I was wondering which strategy would work better.

In the first round, both teams attacked targets effectively, but the fact that the monsters in my team had armor gave my team an advantage, so their health was less damaged.

Round 2

round2.png

Since the opposing team has more monsters with the Flying Ability, in the second round the opposing team took less damage, while my team took more damage. But since Quora Towershead had the Heal Ability, she restored some of his health. Both teams were very eager to win this battle.

Round 3

round3.png

In the third round, both teams seem to have an equal chance of winning, but the death of one of the monsters with the Martyr Ability in my team and Quora Towershead destroying a monster from the opposing team made my team more advantageous in the battle. Both teams were eager to win, but Monsters with the Martyr Ability were turning the tide of battle.

Round 4

round4.png

The death of Fungus Flinger with the Martyr Ability in the fourth round and Quora Towershead destroying another monster made her even more dangerous. Although Quora Towershead's taking Throns damage seemed to be a disadvantage, Quora Towershead's Heal ability and all her stats increased rendered this damage insignificant.

Round 5

round5.png

In the fifth round, Quora Towershead had 6 Magic Attacks and 6 Melee Attacks, which is exactly what I wanted. She could attack targets much more ruthlessly and it was really hard to survive against her.

Round 6

round6.png

round62.png

The battle lasted 6 rounds, at the end of the battle, all the monsters on the opposing team were destroyed, while only 2 monsters on my team survived. Honestly, I wasn't sure I was going to win the battle, but I already knew that there would be one or two monsters left on my team. Because it was part of my strategy and the important thing was the survival of Quora Towershead, and according to my strategy, survival of Quora Towershead would allow me to win the battle. It's been my favorite strategy in battles with the Earthquake ruleset, and it really works well in a lot of battles. In addition, this strategy can also work very well with Monsters with Flying Ability and Heal Ability. But according to my deck I would say it works much better with Quora Towershead. I recommend you to watch this wonderful battle from the battle link. I hope you will like it.
