BATTLE MAGE SECRETS Weekly Challenge

RULESET: Even Stevens

Description:

Only units with even mana costs may be used.

This rule does not apply to summoners.

Only monsters with even mana cost can be used in battles with the Even Stevens Ruleset. And I'd like to point out that in battles with the Even Stevens ruleset, I prefer Magic Attack or Ranged Attack Monsters more because when I consider cards with even mana cost in my deck, Magic and Ranged Monster Cards are stronger than Melee Monster Cards. If there is no obstacle for me to use Magic and Ranged Attack Monsters according to the battle ruleset, I can say that I love the Even Stevens ruleset because my probability of winning such battles is over 70%.

By the way, I see that many players prefer Magic and Ranged Monster cards in battles with the Even Stevens ruleset in the Gold League, which shows that they are more efficient in such battles. Frankly, I think they are more effective in battles with the Even Stevens ruleset, of course, I say this according to my own deck. And I would like to point out that my favorite Summoner in such battles is QUIX THE DEVIOUS.

QUIXTHEDEVIOUS.png

QUIX THE DEVIOUS is a very powerful Summoner that reduces the Speed of all enemy monsters by -1, the Ranged Attack of all enemy Ranged Attack Monsters by -1. That's why I would love to upgrade this card to level 3 and will upgrade to level 3 when I can buy another copy.

I've fought three battles with the Even Stevens Ruleset and my strategy in all of them supported what I mentioned above, so I wanted to share all three, I hope you like them.

Battle Ruleset
Even Stevens
Close Range
Fog of War
Only Fire, Life, Death, Earth and Dragon splinter can be used
Mana Cap 46

  • Even Stevens Ruleset : Only Monsters with even Mana costs may be used in battles.
  • Close Range Ruleset : Ranged attacks may be used in the first position in battles.
  • Fog of War Ruleset : Monsters lose the Sneak, Snipe and Opportunity abilities.

MY STRATEGY

Before starting the battle, after reviewing the opponent's last 5 battles and considering the battle's ruleset, I chose Quix the Devious as the Summoner without hesitation. I predicted that the opposing player will use Ranged Attack Monsters and Monsters with Thorns and Blast Ability in this battle, so I determined my strategy accordingly.

I put Djinn Chwala with the Thorns Ability in the first position. I put Corsair Bosun with Reach and Reflection Shield Abilities in second position because I thought the opposing team would have Monsters with Blast and Thorns Ability. Also, because I know that Chaos Dragon with the Blast Ability will be very effective in this battle, I added it to my team. Chaos Dragon also has the Scattershot Ability so it has a chance to attack the opposing team's backline so I put it in the fourth position. I also added Time Mage with the Slow Ability to my team, as I thought speed would be very important in this battle. Finally, I put Venari Crystalsmith with the Tank Heal Ability in the last position. I knew the Tank Heal Ability would be of great benefit to the team in this battle.

  • Thorns Ability : When hit with a Melee attack, does damage back to the attacker.
  • Reach Ability : Melee attack Monsters with the Reach ability may attack from the second position on the team.
  • Reflection Shield Ability : This Monster doesn't take damage from Blast, Magic Reflect, Thorns, or Return Fire.
  • Blast Ability : Does additional damage to Monsters adjacent to the target Monster.
  • Scattershot Ability : Ranged and Magic attacks hit a random enemy target.
  • Slow Ability : Reduces the Speed of all enemy Monsters.
  • Tank Heal Ability : Restores a portion of the Monster in the first position's health each round.

BATTLE COMMENTS

battle12.png

There were similarities in our strategy with the opposing player, but my strategy worked better, especially thanks to Time Mage, reducing the speed of the opposing team gave my team an advantage at the beginning of the battle and I think this move played a big role in my team's victory. But I can clearly say that in a battle with Chaos Dragon, it is very difficult to know who will win the battle before the battle is over. It is very difficult to predict which target the Chaos Dragon will attack, so it is very difficult to develop a strategy against it. Also, the Level 2 Chaos Dragon is much more effective in such battles as it has the Blast Ability. The opposing team had Chaos Dragon, frankly, I predicted this before the battle, so I thought speed would be very important in this battle.

My strategy worked pretty well in this battle and the battle only lasted 5 rounds even though it was 46 mana. The strength of the opposing team and my team was almost the same, but my strategic moves worked very well and my team won this battle. Both teams' attacks were quite effective, but my team was more effective. At the end of the battle, all the monsters in the opposing team were destroyed, while 4 monsters were still alive in my team, frankly, I couldn't imagine that there would be 4 monsters left in my team at the end of the battle because the opposing team was also so powerful. I recommend you to watch this wonderful and quite challenging battle from the Battle Link, I hope you like it.

Battle Ruleset
Holy Protection
Going the Distance
Even Stevens
Only Fire, Life, Death, Earth and Dragon splinter can be used
Mana Cap 45

  • Holy Protection Ruleset : All Monsters have the Divine Shield ability.
  • Going the Distance Ruleset : Only Monsters with Ranged attack may be used in battles.
  • Even Stevens Ruleset : Only Monsters with even Mana costs may be used in battles.

MY STRATEGY

To be honest, the battle's ruleset was exactly what I wanted. I chose Quix the Devious as the Summoner and took care to choose Monsters with the Close Range Ability because they can attack in the first position. Also, I mentioned above that speed is very important in such battles, I knew it would be very important in this battle, so I added Countess Sinash with the Swiftness Ability to my team. In other positions, I added Ranged Attack Monsters to my team, which are the strongest according to the mana cost that can be effective in this battle. I put Tinderlock in the last position especially since he has the Last Stand Ability.

  • Close Range Ability : Monsters with the Close Range ability can perform ranged attacks from the first position.
  • Swiftness Ability : All friendly Monsters have increased Speed.
  • Last Stand Ability : Gains increased stats if it's the only Monster on the team alive.

BATTLE COMMENTS

battle22.png

The opposing team started this battle with a huge disadvantage, as the opposing player had powerful cards but did not have the card with the Close Range Ability. Therefore, it was not difficult for my team to win this battle, frankly, I would like to point out that for such battles, having cards with the Close Range Ability is a great advantage. My team had the advantage of having monsters with Close Range Ability so in this battle my team's attacks were much more effective good so my team won this battle easily. I recommend you to watch this battle from the Battle Link, I hope you like it.

BATTLE 3

Battle Ruleset
Even Stevens
What Doesn’t Kill You
Only Life, Death, and Dragon splinter can be used
Mana Cap 42

  • Even Stevens Ruleset : Only Monsters with even Mana costs may be used in battles.
  • What Doesn’t Kill You Ruleset : All Monsters have the Enrage ability.

Enrage Ability : Has increased Melee attack and Speed when damaged.

MY STRATEGY

Before starting the battle, when I reviewed the last 5 battles of the opposing player, I thought that the opposing player would use Magic Attack Monsters in this battle, so I teamed up with a different strategy in this battle. I chose Thaddius Brood as the Summoner because I thought it would be advantageous to reduce the Magic Attack of the Magic Attack Monsters on the opposing team. Thaddius Brood reduces the health of all enemy monsters by -1 and the magic attack of all enemy magic attack monsters by -1. I put Cursed Windeku with the Thorns Ability in the first position. In the second position I put Riftwing with Flying, Scavenger and Backfire Abilities. I also thought that Stun and Poison Abilities could be very effective in this battle. That's why I put Revealer with the Stun ability in the third position and Venari Bonesmith with the Life Leech and Poison Abilities in the fourth position.

Frankly, I thought Raa with the Double Strike Ability could be very effective in this battle, so I put Raa in the last position.

Also, I thought it would be advantageous for all the monsters in my team to have +2 armor just in case, and I added the Ravenhood Warden with the Protect Ability to my team.

  • Thorns Ability : When hit with a Melee attack, does damage back to the attacker.
  • Flying Ability : Has an increased chance of evading Melee or Ranged attacks from Monsters who do not have the Flying ability.
  • Scavenger Ability : Gains 1 max health each time any monster dies.
  • Backfire Ability : If an enemy misses this Monster with an attack, the attacker takes 2 damage.
  • Stun Ability : When a Monster with Stun hits a target, it has a chance to stun the target causing it to skip its next turn.
  • Life Leech Ability : Monster's health increases each time it damages an enemy Monster's health in proportion to the damage dealt.
  • Poison Ability : Attacks have a chance to apply poison, which does automatic damage to the target at the beginning of each round after the poison is applied.
  • Double Strike Ability : Monster attacks twice each round.
  • Protect Ability : All friendly Monsters gain +2 Armor.

BATTLE COMMENTS

battle32.png

To be honest, I thought I would win this battle very easily, but the opposing player's strategy was really good. My team missed a lot of attacks it was really frustrating so I regret not choosing Quix the Devious in this battle. If I had chosen Quix the Devious, I think I could have won this war more easily, really, speed is very important in this type of battle. I didn't expect Raa to miss that much, especially, but it still played a big role in my winning this battle. Actually, it's not very advantageous to use Ranged attack monsters against monsters with Enrage Ability. But the Poison Ability also didn't work at all in this battle. Despite all the negativities, my team managed to win this battle, frankly, I congratulate the opponent player, indeed, the opponent's strategy was very good. Both teams attacked targets effectively and it was a highly competitive battle. The battle lasted 7 rounds and my team managed to win this pretty tough battle. I recommend you to watch this very interesting and quite challenging battle from the Battle Link, I hope you like it.

It's just a friendly suggestion; There is a rule that you have to share your battle mage secrets submission post on other social media, too, so this rule is common for both challenges. I suggested you because it's difficult for a curator to check content on both challenges. So please share battle mage secret submission only on the respective challenge post. cheers....🍻
