BATTLE MAGE SECRETS Weekly Challenge

RULESET: Fire & Regret

Description:

All units receive the Return Fire ability at the start of the battle. Enemy units that attack with ranged attacks receive damage back.

Damage returned is equal to damage of the attacker divided by 2, rounded up. Ranged attack units with the Reflection Shield ability do not take damage from reflected magic attacks.

The Amplify ability increases damage.

In battles with the Fire & Regret Ruleset, all Monsters have the Return Fire Ability. When hit with a Ranged Attack, Monsters with Return Fire Ability will return reduced damage back to their attacker. Amplify Ability increases back damage.

  • Amplify Ability : Increases Magic Reflect, Return Fire, and Thorns damage to all enemy monsters by 1.
  • Return Fire Ability : When hit with a Ranged attack, Monsters with Return Fire will return reduced damage back to their attacker.

Frankly, I don't use Ranged Attack Monsters in battles with the Fire & Regret ruleset because using them in such battles can be a bit of a risk, but for some of my strategies I may have to take that risk. But in general, I can say that I do not prefer them in such battles. Also, if I feel my opponent would prefer Ilthain or Lyr Deepswimmer as the Summoner, I don't use Ranged Attack Monsters because these Summoners give the Return Fire Ability to all friendly Monsters.

But if I have to use Ranged Attack Monsters in the battle with the Fire & Regret ruleset, if I have the opportunity, I add first add a Monster with the Amplify Ability to the team, secondly, reduce the opposing team's ranges attack power. I prefer Quix the Devious or Grandmaster Rathe as Summoners if they suitable the battle ruleset. Quix the Devious reduces the Ranged Attack of all enemy Ranged Attack Monsters by -1. Grandmaster Rathe gives the Amplify Ability to all friendly monsters. Also, the Headwinds Ability helps me reduce the Ranged attack of all enemy Monsters. I think increasing back damage is more effective than attacking in such battles.

I have had many battles with the Fire & Regret ruleset, but I wanted to share the most interesting one, and this battle will allow me to better explain my above strategies.

  • Up to Eleven Ruleset : All Monsters have the Amplify ability.
  • Fire & Regret Ruleset: All Monsters have the Return Fire ability.
  • Going the Distance Ruleset: Only Monsters with Ranged attack may be used in battles.

MY STRATEGY

According to the battle ruleset, only Ranged Attack Monsters could be used in this battle, and all monsters would have the Return Fire Ability and the Amplify Ability. I didn't need to use Grandmaster Rathe in this battle because all monsters already have the Amplify Ability and the Dragon unit was not active so I couldn't use Quix the Devious either. I chose Thaddius Brood as the summoner because I thought it would be advantageous to reduce the health of all monsters on the opposing team by -1. I would also have the chance to use Queen of Crows with the Headwinds Ability.

It would not be advantageous to hit targets in such a battle, so I determined my strategy accordingly. I put Xenith Archer in first position because Xenith Archer cannot attack while in the first position. I put Queen of Crows with Close Range Ability and Headwinds Ability in second position. Since Queen of Crows had the Headwinds Ability, the Ranged Attacks of all enemy Monsters would be reduced. I also added Ravenhood Warden with the Protect Ability, as I thought it would be advantageous for all the monsters in my team to have +2 armor in such a battle.

Xenith Archer doesn't have any abilities and cannot attack while in first position so I put her in first position.

Queen of Crows has the Close Range Ability and the Headwinds Ability at level 2. Thanks to Queen of Crows, the Ranged attacks of all enemy Monsters would be reduced by -1.

  • Close Range Ability : Monsters with the Close Range ability can perform ranged attacks from the first position.
  • Headwinds Ability : Reduces the Ranged attack of all enemy Monsters.

RAVENHOODWARDENStats.png

Ravenhood Warden has the Protect Ability from level 1. Thanks to Ravenhood Warden, all monsters on my team would have +2 Armor.

  • Protect Ability : All friendly Monsters gain +2 Armor.

There were similarities in our strategy with the opposing player and the opposing team was more powerful. But it was not advantageous to attack powerfully in such a battle. And I think putting Queen of Crows in first position was a disadvantage for the opposing team, but an advantage for my team.

Round 1

In the first round, all monsters hit the targets and lost their armor along with the back damage they took. It was remarkable that the back damage was more than the attack.

Round 2

The second round was like a repeat of the first round, but the monsters had no armor anymore, taking damage to their health. The opposing team was taking more damage because they attacked more.

Round 3

In the third round, both teams had Queen of Crows left, but Queen of Crows on my team had +2 health advantage. This was a great advantage to be able to win the battle.

The battle lasted 4 rounds, although the opposing team was more powerful, my team managed to win this battle, which showed that my strategy was working well. I recommend you to watch this amazing and quite challenging battle on Battle Link. I hope you liked it.
