Battle Mage Secrets Weekly Challenge! Fire & Regret Ruleset | Splinterlands

Hello everyone, I hope everything is going well in your life. Welcome to my Battle Mage Secrets post. In this post, I will talk about the Fire & Regret Ruleset. I hope it will be useful for you.

Fire & Regret Ruleset

In battles with the Fire & Regret Ruleset, all Monsters receive the Return Fire Ability. Monsters with the Return Fire Ability, when hit by a ranged attack, return half the damage (rounded up) back to their attacker. The Amplify Ability increases Return Fire damage by 1. Therefore, using the Return Fire Ability and Amplify Ability together will be very effective against ranged attack monsters. However, most players do not prefer ranged attack monsters because they take back damage in battles with the Fire & Regret Ruleset, but do not hesitate to use them if you think they will help your strategy. For example, I do not hesitate to use units with abilities such as the Tank Heal Ability and Martyr Ability when I think they will help my strategy.

In battles with the Fire & Regret Ruleset, it would be better not to choose too many cards with ranged attacks, instead it would be better to choose cards with abilities such as Magic Reflect Ability and Thorns Ability to deal similar back damage to your opponents' attacks. Monsters with the Thorns Ability, when hit by a Melee attack, return half the damage (rounded up) back to their attacker. Monsters with the Magic Reflect Ability, when hit by a Magic attack, return half the damage (rounded up) back to their attacker. When you use the Thorns, Magic Reflect and Return Fire abilities, I recommend that you include the Amplify Ability in your lineup if you have the opportunity, because the Amplify Ability increases Magic Reflect, Return Fire, and Thorns damage to all enemy units by 1.

Let's examine the Fire & Regret Ruleset in a battle.

Battle Ruleset

  • Close Range: Ranged attacks may be used in the first position in battles.
  • Fire & Regret: All Monsters have the Return Fire ability.
  • Fog of War: Monsters lose the Sneak, Snipe and Opportunity abilities.

MY STRATEGY & LINE UP

According to the rulesets of the battle, all Monsters in this battle will have the Return Fire Ability and ranged attacks may be used in the first position in battles. And monsters will lose the Sneak, Snipe and Opportunity abilities. I will not use ranged attack monsters in this battle, but if the mana cap was 4 more, I would use a ranged attack monster with Tank Heal Ability, but since the mana cap of the battle is only 21, I gave up on using it. Also, in this battle, it was not very advantageous to use Sneak, Snipe and Opportunity abilities, and therefore, in this battle, all monsters except those with Scattershot Ability would target the monster in the first position, and I will determine my strategy accordingly.

In this battle, I will use magic attack monsters and considering the possibility that the opponent player will also use magic attack monsters, I will put Monsters with Magic Reflect Ability in the front positions. I will also use a gladiator card in this battle and add a Monster with Amplify Ability to my team. Thanks to the Amplify Ability, both ranged attack monsters (from Return Fire) and magic attack monsters (Magic Reflect) would take 1 extra back damage.

The continuation of the strategy and my team's lineup is as follows;

LINE UP

Summoner : FRANZ RUFFMANE

Franz Ruffmane is a Life Summoner that allows the use of one additional Gladiator card in battle, and grants +1 armor to all friendly monsters. Since I will be using the Helmet Kharafax gladiator card in this battle, I can say that I chose Franz Ruffmane as the summoner. Additionally, having all monsters in my team have +1 armor would give my team an advantage against ranged and melee monsters.

Position 1: SOUL FIEND

Soul Fiend is a Life Monster that can attack the target with a melee attack and costs 0 mana. I can say that I added it to my team because it cost 0 mana and I put Soul Fiend in the first position.

Position 2: BLINDING REFLECTOR

Blinding Reflector is a Life Monster that can attack the target with a Melee Attack and has Magic Reflect Ability at level 5. I put Blinding Reflector in the second position since it has the Magic Reflect Ability, 4 armor, and 5 health. I will also add a Monster with Amplify Ability to my team, and the combination of Magic Reflect Ability and Amplify Ability will cause the Magic Attack Monsters on the opposing team to suffer and cause them to take serious damage.

  • Magic Reflect Ability : When hit with Magic damage, does half the Magic damage (rounded up) back to the attacker.

Position 3: PELACOR CONJURER

Pelacor Conjurer is a Life Monster that has no attack power and has Flying Ability and Magic Reflect Ability from level 4. I put the Pelacor Conjurer in the third position. I will also put Aves Sturgis with Weapons Training Ability in the fourth position, so Pelacor Conjurer will have 3 magic attacks. Additionally, since it has the Magic Reflect Ability, when hit with Magic damage, will do half the Magic damage back to the attacker.

  • Flying Ability : Has a 25% bonus chance of evading Melee or Ranged attacks from Units who do not have the Flying ability.
  • Magic Reflect Ability : When hit with Magic damage, does half the Magic damage (rounded up) back to the attacker.

Position 4: AVES STURGIS

Aves Sturgis is a Life Monster that can attack the target with magic attacks and has Weapons Training Ability and Divine Shield Ability from level 2. The most important reason why I added Aves Sturgis to my team was that it has the Weapons Training Ability, and thanks to the Weapons Training Ability, both Pelacor Conjurer and Helmet Kharafax will have 3 magic attacks. And I put Aves Sturgis in the fourth position.

  • Weapons Training Ability : Adjacent units with no attack gain this unit's attack, up to a maximum of 3.
  • Divine Shield Ability : The first time this Unit takes damage it is ignored.

Position 5: HELMET KHARAFAX

Helmet Kharafax is a Life Gladiator that has no attack power and has Bloodlust Ability, Scavenger Ability and Void Ability from level 4. Helmet Kharafax has no attack power, but I put it in the fifth position next to Aves Sturgis so it will have 3 magic attacks. And I believed that it could be very effective in this battle with the abilities it had. It is a great advantage that it has both Bloodlust and Scavenger abilities, and thanks to the Void Ability, the damage caused by magic attacks is reduced by 50%.

  • Bloodlust Ability : This Monster revels in the glory of combat and becomes more dangerous as the battle goes on. Every time it defeats an opponent, it gets +1 to all stats.
  • Scavenger Ability : Gains 1 max health each time any unit dies.
  • Void Ability : Reduced damage from Magic attacks by 50%.

Position 6: DAX PARAGON

Dax Paragon is a Life Monster that can attack the target with a magic attack and has Amplify Ability at level 2. The most important reason why I added Dax Paragon to my team is that it has the Amplify Ability. And I put Dax Paragon in the last position. And in this battle, thanks to the Amplify Ability, both ranged attack monsters (from Return Fire) and magic attack monsters (from Magic Reflect) would take 1 extra back damage.

  • Amplify Ability : Increases Magic Reflect, Return Fire, and Thorns damage to all enemy units by 1.

BATTLE COMMENTS

You can watch the entire battle from the video or from the Battle Link

Round 1

It was quite interesting but not surprising that the opposing player had a strategy similar to mine. Since Soul Fiend had 0 mana, I added him to the team and put him in the first position, and I thought this would be advantageous, however, if I could predict that Helmet Kharafax would be on the opposing team, I would not put it in the first position because Helmet Kharafax got +1 to all its stats by destroying it. In the first round, Gargoya Scrapper and Venari Marksrat from the opposing team were destroyed, while Scavo Hireling was also destroyed thanks to Magic Reflect and Amplify. From my team, only Soul Fiend could be destroyed. However, the opposing team's Helmet Kharafax had received +1 to all its stats twice, which would put my team in difficulty in the other rounds.

Round 2

At the beginning of the second round, the opposing team's Helmet Kharafax destroyed the Blinding Reflector and received +1 to all its stats again. The opponent player's strategy was working quite well, but on the other hand, the fact that I used the Magic Reflect and Amplify abilities together was very useful and thus the opposing team's Aves Sturgis was also destroyed.

Round 3

At the beginning of the third round, Helmet Kharafax on the opposing team also destroyed the Pelacor Conjurer. Even though it received increased Magic Reflect damage, its Void Ability and the fact that it destroyed someone every round made it more dangerous in battle. However, at the end of the third round, it only had 1 health left, which meant that it would be destroyed no matter what in the next round.

Round 4

Even though the opposing team's Helmet Kharafax hit Aves Sturgis at the beginning of the fourth round, the damage was ignored thanks to the Divine Shield Ability. And my team's Helmet Kharafax destroyed it. And on Aves Sturgis destroyed Soul Fiend and my team was able to win this very challenging battle.

The battle lasted 4 rounds. The opposing player's strategy in this battle was really good and worked quite well, but the fact that I used the Magic Reflect and Amplify abilities worked quite well in this battle and if I had not used these abilities, I would probably have lost this battle. When my team has cards with Magic Reflect Ability or Return Fire Ability, I definitely include the Amplify Ability in my lineup if I have the opportunity, and such combinations really work very well, and this battle was one of the best examples of this. I recommend you to watch this very interesting and challenging battle from Battle Link. I hope you will like it.
