Battle Mage Secrets Weekly Challenge! Going the Distance Ruleset | Splinterlands

Hello everyone, I hope everything is going well in your life. Welcome to my Battle Mage Secrets post. In this post, I will talk about the Going the Distance Ruleset.

Going the Distance Ruleset

In battles with the Going the Distance Ruleset, only Monsters with Ranged attack may be used. Additionally, in this ruleset, monsters with a second attack power can be used in addition to ranged attacks, so having cards such as Runemancer Florre and Drybone Raider can be advantageous in this ruleset.

Additionally, only Monsters with the Close Range Ability can perform ranged attacks from the first position, so using monsters with the Close Range Ability in the Going the Distance ruleset will give your team an advantage.

Monsters with the Return Fire Ability, when hit by a ranged attack, return half the damage (rounded up) back to their attacker. Therefore, one of the most effective abilities in the Going the Distance Ruleset is undoubtedly the Return Fire Ability, and choosing a Summoner like Ilthain who grants the Return Fire Ability to all friendly monsters can be very effective in this ruleset.

Headwinds Ability reduces the Ranged attack of all enemy Units by 1. Whenever I have the opportunity, I include the Headwinds Ability to my lineup without hesitation. Additionally, Summoners like Quix the Devious reduce the Ranged Attack of all enemy Ranged Attack Monsters by 1. Reducing enemies' ranged attack with the Summoner or Headwinds Ability, or even using both, can give your team a huge advantage in battle in the Going the Distance ruleset.

In battles, it is very important to defend powerfully as well as attack targets powerfully. No matter how powerful a monster attacks the target, if it cannot hit the target, its attack is useless. That's why I can say that I also attach great importance to defense in battles with the Going the Distance ruleset. I can say that Runic Skyclaw, which can defend perfectly against ranged attackers, is my favorite card. Even though it can't attack from the first position, I can put it in the first position without any hesitation because it can dodge many ranged attacks. Also when I increase its stats it can become much harder to hit. Since Runic Skyclaw has the Flying Ability and high speed, it is a monster that has a high chance of evading Ranged Attacks and Melee Attacks. Additionally, reducing the speed of all enemy monsters and increasing the speed of the Runic Skyclaw slightly increases the chance of evading attacks.

I can say that I like the Going the Distance ruleset, as my deck is rich in Ranged Attack Monsters. And I can win the vast majority of battles where only Ranged Attack Monsters can be used. I would like to say that Ilthain is my favorite summoner in low mana battles and Quix the Devious in high mana battles.

Also, in battles with the Going the Distance ruleset, having a very powerful summoner card like Yodin Zaku can be a great advantage, but unfortunately I do not have this card, but with a good strategy it is not difficult to defeat it, I will talk about this in this post.

Battle Ruleset

  • Odd Ones Out: Only Monsters with odd Mana costs may be used in battles.
  • Going the Distance: Only Monsters with Ranged attack may be used in battles.
  • Holy Protection: All Monsters have the Divine Shield ability.

MY STRATEGY & LINE UP

First of all, I will choose Quix the Devious as the summoner in this battle, and thanks to Quix the Devious, the speed of all enemy monsters will reduce by 1 and the ranged attack of all enemy ranged attack monsters will reduce by 1.

And in this battle too, I will use Runic Skyclaw defensively, but first of all, I will put Venari Marksrat with the Martyr Ability in the first position, and when it dies, I wanted Runic Skyclaw to get +1 to all its stats, so I will put Runic Skyclaw in the second position.

I will put Gargoya Devil with in the third position, while I will put Fungus Flinger with Martyr Ability and Blind Ability in the fourth position. I will also add Runemancer Florre and Goblin Tower to my team, as I believe they will be of great help to my team in destroying the enemies, but I will put them in the last positions because I do not want them to be destroyed early. Since Runemancer Florre has both ranged and magic attacks, and Goblin Tower has Blast Ability, so I can say I added them to my team because I believe they can help me win this battle. However, I trusted Runic Skyclaw the most in this battle, if it could defend well, that is, the more it could evade enemy attacks, the more my chances of winning this battle would increase.

BATTLE COMMENTS

It was not surprising for me that the opponent player chose Yodin Zaku as the Summoner, because I would choose Yodin Zaku as the summoner in such a battle. Additionally, Nimbledook Ranger with Snipe Ability was the only enemy monster that could ruin my strategy. Frankly, if it were me, I would choose more Monsters with Snipe Ability and even include the Scattershot Ability in my lineup, fortunately, the opposing player only included one Snipe Ability in their lineup.

Runic Skyclaw moved to the first position in the middle of the first round, and although the battle lasted 6 rounds, no enemy could hit Runic Skyclaw until the end of the battle, which was truly an incredibly excellent performance. This is exactly why I prefer to use Runic Skyclaw defensively in such battles.

However, as I predicted, Nimbledook Ranger did her best to ruin my strategy by performing perfectly, causing both Runic Skyclaw and my team's backline to suffer serious damage, even though it only had 1 ranged attack. If the opposing team had more than one Monster with the Snipe Ability, it would be much harder for my team to win this battle, and I might even lose the battle. That's exactly why, as I said above, including Yodin Zaku along with more Snipe and even Scattershot abilities in your lineups will be much more effective and will make your opponents suffer much more. Fortunately, my opponent didn't do this and my team won this battle.
