GRUND Attacks Target So Brutally | SHARE YOUR BATTLE Weekly Challenge! GRUND | Splinterlands

Let's talk about GRUND this week for the Share Your Battle Weekly Challenge. GRUND is a powerful Monster with powerful abilities that attacks the target with Melee Attacks. Also, GRUND is an Epic Card in the Earth Unit that belongs to the Chaos Legion edition. GRUND can be very effective in battles with its powerful abilities, frankly, I can say that he is much more effective when used with a good strategy.

I usually put GRUND first position on the team, but when the battle rule set has at least one of the rules like Melee Mayhem, Super Sneak, Equal Opportunity, and so on, I can put it on the back line of the team. Especially because of his Double Strike Ability, I prefer GRUND in battles and it is very effective in battles by attacking the target twice each round. But although he has 3 speed, it has little chance to avoid attacks, so it can be easy to destroy it, so I need to use it with a good strategy because as long as it is alive, it can inflict serious damage to the opponents. In battles where I use GRUND, if I have the opportunity, I definitely add a Monster with the Taunt Ability to my team because I don't want GRUND to be the target of the first attacks and destroyed early.

  • Taunt Ability : All enemy Monsters target this Monster (if they are able to).
  • Melee Mayhem rule : Melee attack Monsters can attack from any position.
  • Super Sneak rule : All Melee attack Monsters have the Sneak ability.
  • Equal Opportunity rule : All Monsters have the Opportunity ability.

THE LORE

Grund has spent his entire life in the lowlands of Praetoria and has grown to love the land and its people. First introduced to the lore of battle as a hatchling, he has studied it ever since with enthusiasm. When he became a juvenile his hands found steel, an old rusting sword abandoned and forgotten in the swamp by some intrepid explorer. Before long it became an extension of himself as he applied all he had learnt, quickly mastering blade work. From then on, he became obsessed with the art of armed combat and he practised with any weapons he could get his hands on.

When he first met Bera Dallin in New Everitt he couldn’t help but marvel at her martial prowess. After having spent some time with her he became proficient in the use of the warhammer. His great strength meant that he could hold one in a single hand and so it wasn’t long before he acquired another and began to dual wield them in combat.

Grund is well loved amongst the people of Praetoria and he is a staunch defender of them, his strong ideals of honour and justice infused within in from a young age. When he heard of the Chaos Legion invasion, Grund took up his hammers in anger and sought them out immediately. Source

GRUND Card Stats

GRUND has the Double Strike Ability at level 1, the Trample Ability at level 4 and the Cripple Ability at level 6.

  • Double Strike Ability : Monster attacks twice each round.
  • Trample Ability : When a Monster with Trample hits and kills its target with a Melee attack, it will perform another Melee attack on the next Monster on the enemy Team.
  • Cripple Ability : Each time an enemy is hit by a Monster with Cripple it loses one max health.

GRUND has 3 Melee Attacks, 3 speed, and 10 health at level 1. As the card is upgraded, Melee Attack and Health increase, but the speed does not change, you can check it from the table above. Currently my GRUND NFT Card is at level 2 and I would like to upgrade it to level 6 in the future. Especially I plan to upgrade it to level 4 soon because when it is upgraded to the level 4, it gains Trample Ability, which I think it will be much more effective in battles thanks to this ability. I think GRUND is a Monster that any team could need, it helps me a lot in winning some battles.

Battle Ruleset
Counterspell
Healed Out
Mana Cap 40

  • Counterspell rule means all Monsters have the Magic Reflect ability.
  • Healed Out rule means all healing abilities are removed from Monsters and Summoners.

Magic Reflect Ability : When hit with Magic damage, does reduced Magic damage back to the attacker.

MY STRATEGY

In this battle, we would be able to choose Dragon and Earth Summoners according to the battle rule set. And since the battle rule set has the Counterspell rule, I decided to prefer Melee Attack Monsters in this battle. Since I thought GRUND could be useful in this battle, I was going to add him to my team without hesitation, but I thought it would be advantageous to add a monster with the Taunt Ability on the back line so that GRUND wouldn't be the target of the first attacks and be destroyed early. I've decided to put monsters with Taunt Ability in the last position and monsters with high health in the top two positions of my team. Frankly, it was very difficult for me to predict what kind of strategy the opposing player would form a team in this battle.

LINE UP

Summoner : QUIX THE DEVIOUS

Since I thought that speed would be very important in this battle, I thought that reducing the speed of the opposing team would give my team an advantage in the battle. And considering that there may be ranged attack monsters on the opposing team, I chose Quix the Devious as the Summoner. Quix the Devious reduces the speed of all enemy monsters by -1 and reduces the ranged attack of all enemy ranged attack monsters by -1.

Position 1: GRUND

GRUND has the Double Strike Ability, 3 Melee Attacks, 3 Speed, and 11 Health at level 2. Since he has both 11 health and the Double Strike Ability, I preferred him in this battle and put him in the first position. It makes more sense to put him in the first position as he can't attack from other positions.

  • Double Strike Ability : Monster attacks twice each round.

Position 2: BRAMBLE PIXIE

BRAMBLE PIXIE has the Reach Ability, 3 Melee Attacks, 1 Speed, and 9 Health at level 2. The main reason I chose Bramble Pixie in this battle was because she has 9 health so I put her in second position. She can attack the target from the second position on the team due to her Reach Ability.

  • Reach Ability : Melee attack Monsters with the Reach ability may attack from the second position on the team.

Position 3: DHAMPIR INFILTRATOR

DHAMPIR INFILTRATOR has the Sneak Ability, the Double Strike Ability, 2 Melee Attacks, 3 Speed, and 3 Health at level 4. I thought Sneak Monsters would be very effective in this battle and Dhampir Infiltrator's Double Strike Ability could have an advantage so I added her to the team and put her in the third position.

  • Sneak Ability : Targets the last Monster on the enemy Team instead of the first Monster.
  • Double Strike Ability : Monster attacks twice each round.

Position 4: VENARI SCOUT

VENARI SCOUT has the Opportunity Ability, 2 Melee Attacks, 3 Speed, and 4 Health at level 4. The main reason I added Venari Scout to the team in this battle was because he has the Opportunity Ability, and I put him in fourth position.

  • Opportunity Ability : Monsters with the Opportunity ability may attack from any position and will target the enemy Monster with the lowest health.

Position 5: URAEUS

URAEUS has the Sneak Ability, 2 Melee Attacks, 3 Speed, 1 armor and 3 Health at level 3. The main reason I added URAEUS to the team in this battle was because it has the Sneak Ability, and I put it in fifth position.

Position 6: MYCELIC SLIPSPAWN

MYCELIC SLIPSPAWN has the Taunt Ability, the Forcefield Ability, 2 Magic Attacks, 3 Speed, and 11 Health at level 4. The reasons I chose Mycelic Slipspawn in this battle was because she had Taunt and Forcefield Abilities. The fact that the battle ruleset had the Counterspell rule was a downside for her, but her Taunt Ability was important to my strategy. I put her in the last position in the team.

  • Taunt Ability : All enemy Monsters target this Monster (if they are able to).
  • Forcefield Ability : This Monster takes only 1 damage from attacks with power 5+

BATTLE COMMENTS

Round 1

battle05022023.png

In the first round, while the opposing team struggled to destroy Mycelic Slipspawn, the monsters on my team were causing the opposing team to take serious damage. Frankly, I was very surprised that the opposing player preferred Magic Attack Monsters in this battle, as this strategy turned out to be a huge disadvantage for the opposing team.

In the first round, a monster from the opposing team and a monster from my team were destroyed. Frankly, I knew Mycelic Slipspawn would be destroyed in the first round.

Round 2

round2.png

In the second round, my team was attacking much more brutally and the opposing team was quite helpless in the face of these attacks. At the end of the second round, the opposing team lost 4 more monsters and only one monster remained on the opposing team. This was showing that my strategy was working pretty well.

BattleGif.gif

Also, GRUND's attacking twice each round was quite painful for the opposing team.

Round 3

round3.png

In the third round, only one monster remained on the opposing team and the room was destroyed by the attacks of the Sneak Monsters.

round32.png

Even though it was a 40 mana battle, the battle only lasted 3 rounds and when the battle was over, all the monsters on the opposing team were destroyed, while 4 monsters were still alive in my team. Frankly, my strategy worked pretty well in this battle, and all the monsters on my team performed great in battle. Also, GRUND's attacks were really brutal.

MY OPINION

As seen in the battle above, GRUND is a powerful Monster that can attack the target powerfully and ruthlessly. He can be very effective in battles and can be much more effective with a good strategy. Especially with his Double Strike Ability, he causes enemies to take serious damage. While GRUND's cost of 10 mana might seem like a downside, his abilities, health and attack power make me ignore it. But since it costs 10 mana, I prefer GRUND in battles of 35 mana or more. I think it is not advantageous to prefer him in low mana battles. Also, in battles where I prefer GRUND, I take care to add monsters with Taunt and Tank Heal Ability to my team, they can prevent him from being destroyed early. Also, since GRUND doesn't have armor, I take care to give him armor in some battles with Summoner or Monster. In short, GRUND is a monster that can be very effective in battles, but using him with a good strategy is very important, a good strategy will make him more effective in battles.

What are your thoughts on the battle and GRUND? I would be glad if you write your thoughts in the comments.
