Use the Power of Strategy Against Powerful Opponents | Splinterlands Social Media Challenge

SplinterlandsSociaMediaChallenge.png

Having powerful cards is undoubtedly very important for winning battles, but this alone may not work very well. It is up to us to make the cards more effective in battles. With our strategy, we can make them more effective and more efficient in battles. I think there are very few opponents that cannot be defeated with a powerful strategy in the league we play. That's why I attach great importance to strategy in battles. I can say that I can win many battles, even the most difficult ones, thanks to strategy. To determine a good strategy, I first review the opponent's last 5 battles and then consider the battle ruleset. I can say that I usually set a strategy according to the opponent. Let's examine this in a battle.

Battle Ruleset
Target Practice
Keep Your Distance
Reverse Speed
Only Earth, Life, Death, and Dragon splinter can be used
Mana Cap 31

  • Target Practice rule : All Ranged and Magic attack Monsters have the Snipe ability.
  • Keep Your Distance rule : Monsters with Melee attack may not be used in battles.
  • Reverse Speed rule : Monsters with the lowest Speed attack first and have the highest chance of evading attacks.

Snipe Ability : Targets enemy Monsters with Ranged, Magic, or no attack that are not in the first position.

My Strategy

According to the battle's ruleset, Magic Attack Monsters and Ranged Attack Monsters could be used in this battle, and all Monsters would have the Snipe Ability. So in this battle, all monsters except the monsters in the first position would target the monster in the second position.

When I reviewed the last 5 battles of the opposing player, they had quite powerful cards for my deck. I knew that I would be fighting against a Level 6 Summoner in this battle, so this battle would be quite difficult for me. That's why much better strategy was needed in this battle. I could predict that the opposing player would prefer Magic Attack Monsters, so I decided that Void Armor, Magic Reflect, Amplify, and Repair abilities would greatly help me win this battle and set my team and strategy accordingly.

Line Up

Summoner: GRANDMASTER RATHE

Since I thought the opposing player would prefer Magic Attack Monsters in this battle, I thought it would give my team a huge advantage if all the Monsters in my team had Void Armor Ability, Amplify Ability, and +1 Armor, so I chose Grandmaster Rathe as Summoner for this battle. Grandmaster Rathe is a Summoner that gives +1 Armor, Void Armor Ability, and Amplify Ability to all friendly Monsters.

  • Void Armor Ability : Magic Attacks hit the armor of Monsters with the Void Armor Ability before their Health.
  • Amplify Ability : Monsters with the Amplify Ability increase Magic Reflect, Return Fire, and Thorns damage to all enemy monsters by 1.

Position 1: PELACOR CONJURER

For my strategy to work well, the monster in the first position in my team had to not be destroyed in this battle, so I put Scavo Hireling with the Repair Ability in the first position. Scavo Hireling has no attack power, but has the Repair ability so it could stall the first position monster on the opposing team. In other words, Scavo Hireling would be able to survive until the end of the battle as it would be the target of the first position monster on the opposing team.

  • Repair Ability : Restores some armor to the friendly Monster whose armor has taken the most damage.

Position 2: VENARI MARKSRAT

Venari Marksrat is a Monster that can attack the target with a Ranged Attack and has the Martyr Ability from level 1. The most important reason I added it to my team in this battle was because it had the Martyr Ability. And when it died, adjacent Monsters would get +1 to all stats. That would make my strategy more powerful. That's why I put it in second position and according to the battle's ruleset it would be the first monster to be destroyed.

  • Martyr Ability : When this Monster dies, adjacent Monsters get +1 to all stats.

Position 3 : PELACOR CONJURER

Pelacor Conjurer has no attack power but has Flying Ability and Magic Reflect Ability at level 5. The most important reason I prefer him in this battle was because he had the Magic Reflect Ability. Since he had the Magic Reflect ability, he does damage back to the attacker when hit with magic damage. And since all monsters on my team will have the Amplify Ability, the back damage would be increased by +1. According to my strategy, Venari Marksrat would die twice in this battle which meant that all stats of Pelacor Conjurer would increase by +1 twice. That's why I put the Pelacor Conjurer in third position.

  • Flying Ability : Has an increased chance of evading Melee or Ranged attacks from Monsters who do not have the Flying ability.
  • Magic Reflect Ability : When hit with Magic damage, does reduced Magic damage back to the attacker.

Position 4 : SPIRIT HOARDER

Spirit Hoarder is a Monster that can attack the target with a Magic Attack and has the Triage Ability at level 1. The main reason I added Spirit Hoarder to my team for this battle was because it has the Triage Ability, it would make it harder for Pelacor Conjurer to be destroyed with the Triage Ability. Meanwhile, destroying the Pelacor Conjurer by the enemies could disrupt my entire strategy, so he needed to survive for a long time. And I put Spirit Hoarder in fourth position.

  • Triage Ability : Heals the friendly back-line Monster that has taken the most damage.

Position 5 : DJINN RENOVA

Djinn Renova is a Monster that can attack the target with Magic Attacks and has the Strengthen Ability from level 1. I thought it would be advantageous for all monsters on my team to have +1 health in this battle, so I added her to the team and put her in fifth position.

  • Strengthen Ability : All friendly Monsters have increased Health.

Position 4: ADELADE BRIGHTWING

Adelade Brightwing is a Monster that can attack the target with Magic Attacks and has the Flying Ability, the Repair Ability and the Resurrect Ability at level 2. Adelade Brightwing has very powerful abilities so I add her to my team without hesitation in such battles. Especially since she has Repair and Resurrect abilities, I added her to my team. I mentioned above why I need these abilities so badly, so I won't mention them again. I wanted Adelade Brightwing to survive until the end of the battle, so I put her in the last position.

  • Flying Ability : Has an increased chance of evading Melee or Ranged attacks from Monsters who do not have the Flying ability.
  • Repair Ability : Restores some armor to the friendly Monster whose armor has taken the most damage.
  • Resurrect Ability : When a friendly Monster dies it is brought back to life with 1 Health. This ability can only trigger once per battle.

I can honestly say that I had a lot of confidence in my strategy in this battle, but monsters with the Blast Ability or Scattershot Ability could ruin my strategy, so I wished there weren't monsters with these abilities on the opposing team.

  • Blast Ability : Does additional damage to Monsters adjacent to the target Monster.
  • Scattershot Ability : Ranged and Magic attacks hit a random enemy target.

The opposing player preferred Magic Attack Monsters, as I guessed, and the opponent was pretty powerful, but they didn't stand a chance against my strategy. But I was surprised that Mycelic Slipspawn was in first position, frankly, I would have put it in the backline. I think it would be more advantageous for the opposing team if it was on the backline. But I can clearly say that I think that this would not have changed the outcome of the battle.

In the first round, both teams were attacking targets effectively, but Venari Marksrat needed to be destroyed twice for my strategy to become more effective in this battle. Venari Marksrat was destroyed in the first round and a second time in the second round. Pelacor Conjurer's stats increased by +1 twice.

Although Pelacur Conjurer didn't have any attack power, it was admirable that in the second round, it dealt magic damage back to the magic attacker and destroyed it. Pelacur Conjurer was disrupting the opposing player's entire strategy and destroying all the opposing team's hopes of winning. The opposing team had a hard time destroying both the first position monster and Pelacur Conjurer in other rounds and failed. This gave my team a huge advantage.

In the third round, Pelacur Conjurer managed to destroy another monster from the opposing team. In other rounds, even though my team missed Chaos Agent multiple times, it was no longer possible for the opposing team to destroy a monster from my team, the misses only made the battle a little longer.

battle190520232.png

The battle lasted 7 rounds, while all monsters on the opposing team were destroyed, only one monster from my team could be destroyed, the destruction of Venari Marksrat was already part of my strategy. It was also noteworthy that when the battle ended, some monsters in my team had more health than when they started the battle. My strategy worked very well in this battle, but to be honest, I didn't expect to win this battle so easily. Void Armor, Magic Reflect, Amplify, and Repair are abilities that can be very effective against Magic Attack monsters, and I can clearly say that they are much more effective when used with good strategy, an example of this we saw in the battle above. All the monsters in the team were really great in this battle and they managed to defeat a pretty powerful team. I recommend you to watch this great and quite challenging battle from the battle link. I hope you like it.

I think you have been going to a school in Pratoria where you study the strength and weaknesses of the game because your lineup is crazily unbelievable. No wonder you have been getting clean sweeps in Brawls.
