Hi splinter warriors,

Welcome to my blog. This is an entry to the Splinterlands battle mage weekly contest.

This season has been off the hooks for me. I’ve been trying out new things on Spl. Yeah, you won’t believe it but yesterday was the first time I tried out tournaments on Spl. I did enjoy them even though I only came in 8th. It was a nice showdown for me. There was this particular one I joined in on the livestream and it was cool.

Enough of the chit-chat, let’s get into it.

For this battle, I didn’t have a lot of options. There were just two elements available, the death and dragon elements. I don’t have a lot of good dragon elements so the only option that was left was to go in for the death elements.

The cursed Windeku. I had to choose between two melee cards and honestly, I regret going for the cursed windeku but then I also didn’t have much of a choice. I wanted to go in for a melee card with less mana because the game's mana was as low as 21. I did want to change but the only other melee I could go for was 8 mana which meant I would have had to send only two cards for the battle.

One of the few reasons that swayed my decision towards the cursed Windeku was that it has the thorns ability. With this am sure if the opponent brings on a melee card I’ll be able to get him easily.

The cursed windeku is a 6-mana card with 2 melee and 3 speed; one other reason why I went for it was the speed.

Unfortunately on my side, it was a level one card while my opponent had level 2 of it.

Round 1

My opponent's first-choice monster did surprise me. I say this because he has level 2 of crushed Windeku and decided not to bring it first. Instead, he brought the corpse fiend first which is not strong at all. It has just 1 melee attack and 1 health. One position to this card is that it’s a 0 mana card so it cost him nothing to bring it.

He again had a summoner that reduced my health by 1 but then I had a summoner that gave all my monsters a +1 speed.

With that in mind, I thought I was going to attack first but I was wrong. He had a magic card which also had 4 speed so it was the first to lay its hands on my Liza fox, a range card with low health.

After that attack on my Liza fox, it attacked his corpse fiend and vanquished it. I was glad cause the Liza Fox is a blood lust card so killing his corpse fiend gave it a nice boost in stats. One downside was that it had no shield.

Next in line was his Windeku, which I knew mine had no chance against it. The wonderful miracle I was hoping for was that my Liza fox would at least get a shot at it. But it was my cursed windeku who took the first action against it. Well it was a thorns card so even though my cursed windeku damaged it, it gave it back.

He had a silent sha-vi, a sneak card which targets my last card so it went on to attack Liza Fox and well, it did a lot of damage. I was expecting it to die before the next two rounds since his magic card was a strong one.

His cursed Windeku finally attacked my Windeku and well it was the same old story.

In this round, I killed one of my opponent's cards and he killed none of mine.

Round 2

In round two, my liza fox was the first to attack and it was on my opponent's cursed windeku. It had a lot of its health and it almost vanquished it. His magic card made its next move on Liza Fox and almost killed it as well but I was lucky.

My cursed windeku made its move on my opponent's cursed windeku and Mehn did it. It vanquished it. But since it had the thorns ability it left mine bleeding; so his next monster had an easy task of killing it.

Next in line was my carrion shade, a card which made no move until it was in the first position. It’s a melee card with 2 health and 2 speed. The only downside to it was that it had no opportunity ability so it had to wait its turn.

It made its move on my opponent’s silent sha-vi and could only take 1 health away from it.

In this round, I killed one of my opponent's cards and he also killed one of mine.

Round 3 -4

Since my carrion shade did the task of taking part of my opponent's card health it was an easy task for Liza Fox to vanquish it. At this stage I had hope and well I thought I could win the game but I was wrong.

His magi necrosi quickly attacked my first position card and vanquished it.

After vanquishing it my Liza fox came into first position, the Liza fox is a range attacker so it was useless in first position.

My opponents card easily vanquished it with one strike.

Am not gonna lie, this defeat really hurt me lol. I thought to myself, what if I put one more monster in the lineup? Even if I was a no-attacker card, I would have won this easily.
