Battle Mage Secrets Weekly - Target Practice

Hi splinter warriors,

Welcome to my blog. T-5 days and the current season ends. Well, this season doesn’t look good for me. I’ve been playing way way less due to time constraints and I have just 6 seasonal chests. In previous seasons I would have had close to 30 seasonal chests by now.

Battle Ruleset

Ruleset Icon	Description
	Target Practice: All Ranged and Magic attack monsters have the snipe ability.

With the snipe ability. It means that the enemy monsters will target monsters with ranged, magic or no attack that are not in the first position. So with the target practice, it means all ranged and magic monsters of your enemy will target your monsters that have ranged, magic and no attack.

With this in mind, I opted for cards that were all melee. And since the mana cap was very low I didn’t have a lot of options.

The mana cap for the battle was 12 meaning I had to select a summoner which had low mana and also be able to choose cards which were very good and had low mana as well.

Summoner: As I said, the mana cap for his game was as low as 12 which means I had limited options. I didn’t have the luxury of going in for my big guns which I mostly relied on so I need to be fast about it.

I went in for the mylor crawling summoner hoping my opponent would play into my hands.

With the mylor crawling, all my monsters had the thorns ability and it was what helped me in battle.

Mylor crawling is an earth summoner with 3 mana.

1st position

For my first position, I was looking for a card which had huge health and also a good melee attack. The only viable option for me was to go in for unicorn mustang. A card which has 4 speed, 3 melee attack and 10 health. As an addition, it reduces damage from magic attacks by 50%.

The only downside to it was that it has an 8 mana cap which means I was left with room for a monster with just 1 mana.

Unfortunately for me, I don’t have a magic card with 0 mana or 1 mana so I had to go in for another melee card which only attacks from the first position.

Round 1

My opponent did play into my trap but he was clever. He went in for a summoner which reduced magic attack by 1 and health by 1. His first position card was venari marksrat which is a martyr card. It doesn’t attack in first position so he knew what he was doing.

He got what he wanted as I made the first attack of the round. I attacked and killed his martyr card with the only attack I had in round 1.

His pelacor deceiver came into first position with added stats. It was a melee card which had 2 attack but due to the martyr, it now had 3 melee attack, 5 speed and 9 health.

It then went ahead to attack my unicorn Mustang for 3 damage. I was fortunate I had the thorns damage so I made it suffer 2 damage back.

In this round, I killed one of my opponent's cards and he killed none of mine.

Round 2 -3

Since my opponent’s card had an increase in stats it was now the first to attack. It made the next move in this round on unicorn and as usual, took a chunk of its health but suffered thorn damage.

The unicorn attacked back and almost killed it but it didn’t happen.

It gathered momentum and attacked back and vanquished my unicorn Mustang but then it suffered back the thorns damage which also killed it.

So it was unfortunate for my opponent as he was able to kill my strongest card but died in the process as well.

In my opinion, the extra card was a huge helping hand. It helped me including the thorn's ability. It was a battle I ended up not making a lot of hits but then I ended up winning cause I had the thorns effect.
