Splinterlands Social Media Challenge - My Journey

Hello there,

The season has quickly gone by and as such am sure we are preparing to open our seasonal chest. I say it has gone by fast because this season I’ve not had the time to really play and get the number of chests that I normally get in the bronze level.

Enough of this end-of-season talk already. If I do get time to play I still think I can get a decent amount of chests before the season ends.

So today my post will be taking a different time. This time round am not going to write about a battle or the rebellion packs. Am going to write about my journey on splinterlands. So here it goes.

I joined hive a year ago, that was in 2022 and ever since then, I’ve always wanted to play Spl. Am not someone who can game for a whole day without getting tired but then I do love games and the first game which was able to catch my attention was Splintelands. Now, I wanted to sign up but then I wasn’t so sure for a few reasons. One of them was that I was a newbie so rushing to make a 10-dollar purchase of the spellbook was out of the question for me.

The second one being, I didn’t know how to play and none of my friends knew how to play either so it was better not to gamble into something I wasn’t entirely sure about. Fast forward to 2023, I decided to sign up and it was because I knew someone who was playing it at that time so the questions I had were easily answered. Since it was something I wanted to do for a long time I didn’t need any convincing.

I also had extra motivation to sign up because my friend (Abu78) was going to talk to a guild owner so I could join their guild(skull fragments), so I knew I wouldn’t stay clueless for long.

I’ve been part of the Splinterlands community for a little over four months. Wow, I didn’t believe it’s been so short of a time. It feels like I’ve been part of this community for years.

I joined the Splinterlands community in July of this year and every season it has been a wonderful experience.

After buying my spell book, our guild owner delegated me cards which helped me to understand the game. Those cards have shaped me and helped me to better understand the game. He also delegates a chuck of sps to my account which helps me earn while I play.

As I said in the beginning, am not the type of person who spends a lot of time on games, I easily get bored and tired. Previously I used all my energy and even bought extra before the bots were banned on Modern. I still play for longer hours but I don’t play as much as i did. This is due to a few reasons. But am sure id get back to bossing it up soon. I still have a lot to learn and since am still in the bronze league I need to get out of there.

I used to think getting into bronze I was such a difficult task until now, I get into it so easily. So now I need to master how to get into silver and stay in silver. Am guessing it will take some time to get used to but I can do It, as am growing my Dec and accommodate new cards and also max out some of the cards I love.

I ask myself this question every day. What have I achieved on Spl? Well, I’ve achieved quite a few things. Most of my achievements have come from chaos lgn packs for now. For me, it’s financially impossible to buy the big big cards even though I do buy the mall cards from time to time and then I get lucky from time to time on chaos lgn packs that I open.

Being, in a crypto project means you need to have goals. Yes, this is a game but since it’s a play2earn game you need to have your goals set out.

For now, am concentrating on building my deck and while am at that I want to be able to build my SPS stake as well. For now, I have a little over 400 staked sps which have all been earned from playing in brawls and modern battles. I do have a 10k capped target before the year ends. I was talking with Starr and she showed me an awesome way of getting to that figure so am sure I’ll be doing that from now on.

For now, I want my total power to get to 100k real fast and then we can grow from there.

Since there is a new set of packs too I’ve gotten some of the rebellion packs as well and waiting patiently for December to see what cards I can loot from those packs.

Most importantly I wish to get out of the silver stage by this year's end and be able to try for gold. I know by this year's ending it will be a hard ask for me to say I’d be a gold player with the cards I have now.

But by the end of next year, I hope I can be a gold player as much as I have mastered bronze I with the growth in cards and all.

These days, am mostly focused on splinter lands even though am not playing very much. My advice to anyone who just started playing is to take his time to understand how things work in the game. When you start out as a newbie it sucks as you wouldn’t know what to do. YouTube helps a lot. Watch tutorials to understand how the various elements work, how to rent cards and also buy them etc.

You’ll also need to have someone who you can bug with all your questions which may be silly but are equally important to help your journey.
