Someone’s Hive Journey

Struggling with this idea between writing a content because "you have something to say" or because "you have to say something". The first stance is what makes you authentic they say while the other will make you look like a fake. I am not sure up to what certain extent or context the first idea is applicable. Besides authenticity, necessity and incentives are two powerful motivation pushing people to do something such as writing or blogging. There are those who financially struggle who don’t care about the question. As for incentives, I think Hive has built in such mechanism with this so-called proof of brain protocol. My interpretation might be wrong.

Enough for the above tension. My current interest as of now is to write a record of my personal journey here on Hive. I only arrive with this idea after reviewing Hiveblocks.com two nights ago. I was actually about to sleep, and then I noticed the bottom part of the Hiveblocks page. I am referring to the accumulating pages of my blocks. It has 51 pages the last time I checked it and when I decided to write.

Of course, I won’t cover everything recorded on my blocks. That will be boring. I will be selective. I want to do this now before the pages started to pile up and at that time, the task of reviewing them might be overwhelming.

So far, I intend to cover the 192 days of my Hive journey, and I want to start from August to October last year. This will include pages 52 to 39 in my blocks.

How it all started?

7th August 2021 was the day Steemmonsters created my account. At that time, I was just signing up on Splinterlands, but I never expected to receive a precious gift – Hive! Two days after, Steemmonsters delegated 21.701 HP to my account (I still didn’t know at that time what HP is) for me to be able to transact. And then the following three days, I don’t have any clue for whatever reason, but another 10.851 HP were delegated to me. Yes, I know what the word means, but I didn’t know its meaning in the context of Hive. In fact, I was not even aware that more than 30 HP has been delegated to me. I only saw this after checking my account transactions on hiveblocks.com after six months.

@mistakili, the first Hiver I stumble with

Mistakili is the first Hiver I met due to Splinterlands content and he is also the first guy who upvoted my comment with 0.114 HBD. I was glad of course. I didn’t know that a simple comment would receive such an incentive. Our conversation at that time centered on the pre-sale of Chaos Legion to SPS stakers, vouchers distribution via airdrop, and his legendary gold foil Dark Ha’On.

I find it difficult to believe that despite the price appreciation of the card, he was still holding it. I told him if I were in his position, I think I would have sold it with its current market price, which at that time was $4,500.00! I was even shocked when he said that he has been holding the card since it was just worth $70.00! I admire his perseverance and his long-term perspective. That is something worth learning.

September 2021

The second man that crossed my path on Hive is @taskmaster4450. I met him 07 September. What caught my attention was his article, The Exponential Age: Changing the Mindset About Economics. You know, I have been reading economics stuff since 2009. The collapse of the housing market that caused many American missionaries in our group to pull out their projects and return home made me curious.

Outside of Hive, I never encounter contents like what taskmaster4450 wrote, but it seems to me that such type of article is normal here on Hive especially on LeoFinance. No wonder that any newcomer reading such content would either be surprised or shocked. That article actually was the first Hive article I shared on Facebook. Of course, among more than 2,000 “friends” on Facebook, I think only around 10 people like it. Anyway, since then, reading taskmaster4450’s articles has been part of my regular daily dose.

Here is my comment on that post:

This is one of the most important articles I recently stumbled on the web so far. Just wondering how come mainstream financial writers do not write content like this? It makes life boring. Not to mention the incentive given by Hive to “creators of wealth” via posting articles and giving comments. I have been studying the Austrian school of economics since 2009 and I already heard about the concept of compounding though I still didn’t fully comprehend its implications for my own personal finance. Both economics and money are interesting subjects, but most people I know struggle to understand them. When you mention that “data is money,” that is a new concept for me that somehow with my brief stay on Hive platform, I am now beginning to realize its meaning.

On the same day, I published my first post. It’s about defeating Stormbringer’s magic team. Total reward? $0.00! At that time, I was not aware of the existence of two important Splinterlands’ weekly challenges, the Social Media Challenge and Share Your Weekly Battle Story.

The following day, I met @savvyplayer due to common interest, as usual, it’s about Splinterlands. I actually forgot meeting him. Again, I only realized it after checking my blocks. I think two weeks ago, the acquaintance has been refreshed. He actually guided me how to use tipping tokens like PIZZA, LUV, and PGM. He also taught me how to use the !gif command.

Third Season on Splinterlands

After two months wandering all over Hive and wondering how Hive works, I think 06 October was an important milestone in my HP growth. After realizing the permanent character of a blockchain, I regretted posting three earlier articles (the other two in another account) due to their low quality. With such realization, I made another attempt to publish a Splinterlands content sharing about my experience for three seasons focusing on the rewards, the quest potion, staking, and a battle story. I was glad to see that @steemmonsters gave me an upvote worth 10.709 HBD!

Five days after, I met the fourth Hiver that influenced the way I play Splinterlands. This time, it’s @ecoinstant. He was the one who enlightened me that playing in Silver league is not really as tough as some would want newbie players to believe. Since that time, I began renting cards and checked what’s going on in Silver league. When I saw firsthand that what ecoinstant said was true, for the first time after two months, I ended the season at Silver III.

I want to conclude my Hive October story meeting another guy. He is the one who gave me the profile photo that I am using now here on Hive. Though our meeting in another social media was very short, I really appreciate the attention he gave me there.

Covering the first three months of my journey on Hive, I could say that meeting Hivers that I mentioned is like life-changing to me. There is no way to know in advance the extent of someone’s influence in the way you think and act.

There is a lot of knowledge on Hive. Outside, people are not really aware of what is taking place.

We are on the ball since we understand what is taking place since we dont buy into only headlines.

Love this!!!!

My current interest as of now is to write a record of my personal journey here on Hive.

This is the best way to go about it actually. This is what I mostly do and it’s helped a lot.

Haha, holding that card isn’t so difficult if you really understand it’s usefulness, rarity, moreover, it looks really charming, I can’t complain.

Splinterlands really helped me understand NFT’s, it’s defines it. Most other projects out there are based on superficial utility, with these Splinterlands cards, the utility of each nft is real time. It’s really amazing what’s being built here and how early we are.

Haha I’m happy my little vote seemed like something. I’m pretty sure you also received other tokens I’m staked in albeit in little quantities. Makes me happy.

What makes me even more happy is the connection made by doing what I love and meeting your curiosity halfway. I can totally relate to how you feel about taskmaster.

At that time, I was not aware of the existence of two important Splinterlands’ weekly challenges, the Social Media Challenge and Share Your Weekly Battle Story.

This shows again how early we are, this is web 3 at play, this is how dapps of the future will scale, by distribution of value among every user. Splinterlands is very early to it.

Users can inturn take their earnings to increase their stake in the game if they choose to, everyone can grow.

Just imagine when more apps discover this and begin to replicate. Because I’m pretty sure some people have started to ask questions.

Yes, for someone just starting who knows little about this new space, I think this is a better alternative in sharing content. As months turned into years and depending on someone’s growth, I think that’s the time to write a more advanced content.

Haha, holding that card isn’t so difficult if you really understand it’s usefulness, rarity, moreover, it looks really charming, I can’t complain.

After our conversation that time, I realized it was the utility in the game that gave Dark Ha’On such a price.

What makes me even more happy is the connection made by doing what I love and meeting your curiosity halfway. I can totally relate to how you feel about taskmaster.

Now I understand what do they mean by the community as layer 0.

Just imagine when more apps discover this and begin to replicate. Because I’m pretty sure some people have started to ask questions.

Without token distribution via weekly challenges, I think I will be stuck. Hoping that other apps will also learn such distribution mechanism.

@splinterlands is one of the earliest NFT projects ever. The best part is that they are argubally the best NFT project out there as well. @splinterlands is the second most used DAPP in the world and there is a real economy, a fun game on its own and the way they are handling everything to accommodate both whales and minnows is imperfect; but truly commendable. Things like this is the norm:

Here @rittmeister is the overview of my three month journey. This took me 6 months to understand a part of how Hive works. Try replying to this post to test how Proof of Brain works.

That was the time you weren't using your wife's and son's Hive accounts yet to post, comment, and curate. 😆😏

Still, I am not using axie. Not a good name, but I am thinking about how can I utilize on Hive the $10.00 account I used in Splinterlands.

Even if you (or your son) don't play #Splinterlands using that account, you can let it own Cards and then lease them on the #PeakMonsters market. 🤓 Although that leaves a lot of room for forgetfulness, distraction, confusion, and laziness to affect you! 🤣😂

Since your memory is still sharp, perhaps you might be interested in doing the card leasing using axie's account.

Maybe you should just use the #PeakMonsters's leasing bots instead. 🤓

Thanks for the info. The challenging part is to grow the cards in that account.

It's better to use the #PeakMonsters bots (for free) while you think of how to grow your #Splinterlands Cards on that account, rather than let those Cards just sit on that account waiting for you to do something with them. 🤓😏

I think the cards in that account have already been transferred to my main account. Once I reach Diamond's CP, that's the time I will increase the card collection of three more accounts.

Without any Card on a #Splinterlands account, I don't think that account can be used (unless you want to lend it to a friend or sell it). 🤯😅
