I know how it feels at the beginning. Just do your daily quest maybe you get something useful. Things go slow, but trust me you be able to get to silver within two months if you not spent anything but the spellbook. Just use the free cards for now. With the cards you will receive from rewards you can try to build a better deck. Take baby steps and you get there
My biggest suggestion here is to try and rent your cards out for longer periods of time and make sure the rental period overlaps with season end. You'll still be subject to people canceling on you which I think needs to be fixed but at the end of the day you'll likely end up better off.
