15 February 2026, Freewriters Community Daily Writing Prompt Day 3015: honest lie

Kilo sat in front of three separate wide monitors, each one representing differently a part of the things he dis online, including streaming on twitch. He told his followers he was diversifying for community growth, but the truth was hidden. He was juggling the economies of three different worlds, and if one dropped, they all shattered. The center screen displayed his DCity game on the dashboard. It was his main base of operations o rput simply his main game, a sprawling metropolis built on SIM and careful planning. To keep the tax bots happy and the population booming, Kilo maintained a facade of a perfect civil servant. He spent his mornings adjusting "Education" and "Social Support" cards, creating the image of a stable, peaceful Mayor. This was the most important part of the lie, cos as long as the DCity looked prosperous, the investors would never realize that their Mayor was actually a high stakes gambling warlord in the shadows.

Every night, Kilo moved his assets into the brutal arena of Splinterlands. If DCity was his office, Splinterlands was his colosseum. He didn't just play for fun, he played to harvest DEC and SPS to fuel his expansion. He became a conqueror, using a deck of monsters to dismantle opponents. He told his rivals and anyone who bothered to ask, he was just a lucky collector, another honest lie that masked the fact that he had mapped every mana cost and ability synergy to a mathematical certainty. He needed those wins, the rewards from the splintered realms were the only thing keeping his city’s treasury from hitting zero. But then the place where the honest lie turned was in Terracore. This was the post-apocalyptic frontier where Kilo sent his hard-earned Scrap.

In the wasteland of the Terracore ecosystem, there were no cards or tax codes, only raw power and defense, just the way he liked it. He played the part of a low profile miner to perfection, keeping his character’s stats humble to avoid being a target for heavy raiders. It was a calculated deception. While he looked like easy prey, he was secretly dumping his Splinterlands earnings into hidden upgrades. The cycle was a perfect a, dangerous loop. He used the stability of his DCity reputation to mask his movements, the tactical rewards of Splinterlands to fund his growth, and the raw resource extraction of Terracore to provide the backbone of his wealth. When asked how he managed to stay at the top of the leaderboards across all three games, he simply smiled and said he was working hard for the ecosystem. It was an honest lie he was working harder than anyone, but it wasn't for the ecosystem.... The End!
