Let’s jump back to September 13, 2003. Young Zlatan Ibrahimovic was still making a name for himself at Ajax. That day, Ajax faced off against RKC Waalwijk at the Amsterdam Arena and walked away with a solid 4-1 win. By halftime, Ajax already had things under control, leading 2-0. Maxwell scored the opener, and Zlatan added a header off a slick assist from Rafael van der Vaart. (Honestly, I just read about this — wasn’t even born yet! 🤣)
After the break, Tomas Galásek grabbed another, then Wesley Sonck followed up with a fourth. RKC managed a late consolation goal from Khalid Boulahrouz, but that was it. Roelof Luinge reffed the match.
