Attack of the Chaos Legion! : Adelade Brightwing VS Alvar The Legionnaire!!

My long due first post on Hive and attempt against the weekly challenge is finally here! It's been a few months since I started my journey on Splinterlands, had a rollercoaster of fun, especially with the community! In fact I think I won a lot more from the generous peeps out there compared to what I get with my measly skills in the game 🤣🤣. Besides the gameplay, one main aspect that captivates me is the lore of each and every cards, which was kickstarted by the weekly Splinterlore trivia by @sketchygamerguy and @drabs587. And in one of them I happened to write a fanfic battle between Adelade and Alvar, so here goes nothing >.<

There was never a more respected champion than Adelade Brightwing. As a young woman, Adelade joined the military at the youngest age permissible. She was nothing short of a prodigy and was quickly promoted through the ranks and become well-known for her assertive leadership. She was the champion of the Twenty Day Battle of The Sands against an army of undead. Thanks to her great heroics, she was brought before the Temple of the Sky Lady. Bestowed upon her was an enchantment that allowed her to sprout white wings and fly. It was the highest honor, a blessing upon the followers of the goddess.

As a well-respected champion, she had sparred against multiple other exceptional warriors and summoners, such as Tyrus Paladium and Chanseus The Great. Reminiscing these fights painfully make Adelade realize just how outclassed they are, mere frogs in a well, compared to a true Chaos Legion prodigy standing in front of her at the instance.

Striding towards her is of the Chaos Legionnaires, Alvar Verglyn. Just like her, he was conscripted into the military ranks at a young age, yet his drive wasn’t for honor nor out of kindness, but entirely more intense and filled with bloodlust. Each step closer Alvar took, more heads fell prey to his massive, two-handed sword, rolling lifelessly on the barren land, with movements unbefitting a bastard sword of such size.

The 2 prodigies of opposing factions’ eyes locked, and the next thing everyone knew, was a thundering clash blowing the rest off their feet; the shockwaves powerful enough to claim some unfortunate lives. Adelade was the one thrown backward from the impact, simply because her feminine build making her disadvantaged in a frontal assault, or so did she reassure herself. Adelade is a good commander, and she could have quickly discerned how everyone’s’ morale had been down, intimidated even, ever since Alvar stepped in.

“This is bad, I need to draw him away from the main fray, ease up the intimidation on our army”.

With a few provocation and kiting maneuvers, Adelade managed to draw Alvar to a more isolated battlefield. It was at no small cost though, as each time the ruthless warrior always somehow managed to sneak in a hit or two, each blow enough to knock out your average giants. Her saving grace was her armor self-repair mechanism working at full throttle all thanks to The Sky Lady’s blessings. Again, discerning that she stands no chance in a frontal fight, she flapped her bright white wings and started a magic bombardment on Alvar from the sky, leaving the grounded beast of a man no moves but to tank the barrages as all his aerial slashes was easily dodged by Adelade’s graceful flight.

“That armor of his is exceptional, but the Sky is my field, and at this pace even he would helplessly fall.”

A slight smile starts to form on her beautiful face the moment she finally saw a chance of winning the uphill battle.

Yet it is always when someone is sure of their victory that they often ease up their attention. It was just a single slip-up, and one that costed her dearly, for Alvar had been limiting his range on purpose as a trap, a feint; and the very moment Adelade’s attention wavered, he made a jump double the distance he ever did the whole fight, closing their distance in a fractional of a blink and-

“BOOOOM!!”

The blow was stronger than any she received before. Her prided armor somehow kept her body intact in one piece; however, the impact had traversed her whole body, shattering every bone, and shocking her brain critically. It was a fatal hit.

“You fought well, girl. However, in a duel, even the Old Gods shan’t be able to endure my deathblow. Rest, for I shall send you your armies in a while.”

In her dying breath, the only thought going on her mind wasn’t the pain, neither was it the attachment to life, nor the fate of her comrades in arm, being slayed ruthlessly by Alvar. No, rather it was the thought of how exciting that fight was, how thrilling a true deathmatch is, incomparable to the spar she ever had in the Colosseum, incomparable to any other wars she single-handedly dealt with. At her last moment, Adelade Brightwing died with a smile of satisfaction...

Yet unbeknownst to Alvar, Adelade herself, or any soul on the battlefield, her body shone bright for a second, the bright light of Resurrection. A miracle bestowed by The Lady of the Sky; a faint beat returned to Adelade’s chest.

For this is merely the prologue to a new, bloodier chapter in the young champion’s life, where she shall dedicate her life to best Alvar, and even more ferocious foes....

Well if you were expecting anything grand of a masterpiece then too bad, I can't really write proper stories, (or at least for now 😏). I might try to write more when I got the time aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. Even the thumbnail was made in a rush, not like I can do better even with more time tho.
