8th Year Anniversary Sale Wrapped Up

So yesterday, the Splinterlands 8th-year anniversary sale has finally concluded. Kind of crazy to know that the game has existed for 8 years already, especially with how lots of other Web3 games have shut down their doors during the previous months. Anyway, the anniversary sale involves the sale of two cards: the Epic card Tenrai and the Legendary card Suiko, both of which cost 8 mana to use, just to match to the 8th anniversary.
And now that the sale has finally wrapped up, let's see how it goes, with how many copies of the cards were sold, and how much revenue it brought to the team.
8th-Year Anniversary Sale Wrapped Up
The 8th-year anniversary sale took off on August 8, 2026, and lasted until September 8, 2026, so that gives players a 30-day time frame to buy the cards. The sale features two Neutral Dragonkin units, giving them a lot of use cases, as they can be summoned in battle regardless of the active element. Alone, these cards can be quite powerful due to the set of abilities that each card has, but together, they make each other more powerful because of Tenrai's Kindred Spirit, which will give the Giant Killer ability when the adjacent unit next to it has the Kindred Will, while Suiko's Kindred Will will give the Armored Strike ability when it is next to a unit with Kindred Will. Of course, they can also be used along with other units that have Kindred Will and Kindred Spirit abilities and can gain other abilities depending on which card is adjacent to them. Also, something that makes these cards unique compared to the previous anniversary card is that there is an 8-year mark on the card.

When it comes to card sales, Tenrai was able to sell a total of 10,565 BCX at $0.88 each, or $ 9,297.20 in revenue. Since a player needs to have 46 copies of the card to have it fully maxed, this means that there can only be no more than 229 max copies of Tenrai in regular foil, but that number might be lower because not everyone buys them at max level.
As for Suiko, it sold a total of 2,002 BCX, and at $ 8.88, that means that the team earns $ 17,777.76 in profit. Since a player needs to have 11 copies of the card to have it fully maxed, this means that there can only be no more than 182 max copies of Suiko in regular foil, but just like Tenrai, that number is most likely lower.
Overall, the team was able to earn a total of $ 27,074.96 during this sale. If I remember correctly, it was said that the daily salary for the team was about $ 2,000, so that means the sale will be able to pay the team for about 13 days.

Foil Fortune Draw
At the end of the sale period, there will be a Fortune Draw for the Special Foil version of each card that will be available to the players who own the regular version of the card before the draw date. In this draw, players have the chance to win 200 Gold copies of Tenrai at level 2, 50 Gold copies of Suiko at level 2, 5 Gold Foil Arcane, 5 Black Foil, and 3 Black Foil Arcane Tenrai, and 2 Gold Foil Arcane, 3 Black Foil, and 1 Black Foil Arcane. It seems that for players to receive their reward, they first need to check or claim their prize, so right now, only those who claimed were able to get the card.

Closing
Overall, I think that the sale has a decent run given the game's current player base and given how many card sales are taking place at the same time. As for the rest of the premium foil winners, we can only wait for them to check for prizes before the cards may or may not be distributed to them.
