An Exemplary Update Before The Year Ends

Over and over again, it always surprises me how Splinterlands has bringing out one update after another in 2025. From new game mechanics on the newest card set, to new land cards and resources that revitalize the interest in Land Gameplay. Through all the years that I played the game, 2025 is undoubtedly the year in which the team did the most work. And I thought that they would end this year's update with the Winterfest event, but to my surprise, they did not end with that and decided to do one final update by launching the AVATAR and EXEMPLAR system that will allow players to design a character that will represent them as they play the game.
Bring Your Avatars To Life
Before this update, there were only a few options in choosing a character profile in the game, so when matching against an opponent, we usually get to face someone with the same character profile, unless someone has a Runi, but they were not that flexible in the way that you can't customize them. Perhaps it will someday, once the team comes back from their original Runi plans, but it seems that was not in their priorities right now.
But with Avatars, we can now fully customize our character profiles, similar to an RPG-style game. All players can design their profile based on their preferred character and race, physical features, clothing and accessories, Backgrounds, frames, and visual effects.
There are lots of different free options to choose from, but there are also premium options that can be obtained by playing the game and will be added in future content, and with external elements, players can freely change them anytime. However, changing the avatar's race and core physical traits will require a Polymorph Potion, which is a new type of potion that can be crafted using Land resources.
Polymorph Potion
Is a consumable potion that allows players to change their avatar's bloodline and body type. Each player will start with 5 free charges, and when they are all used up, players can use the Artisan's Quarter to craft the potion using 400 Aura, which they can use by themselves or sell on the in-game market. As of the moment, players can only choose between Humans, Elves, Orcs, and Dwarves Bloodline, but more bloodlines will be added over time.

And look at that, my avatar is going bonkers sweeping all my opponents in yesterday's Tournament hosted by @aftersound and @lorkus, which I got confused as female due to my avatar and had to clear out in the stream. But that is what it means to freely customize your character, be it you want to be an orc with mohawk hair or a dwarf with a pale skin.
Exemplars: Design Your Most Powerful Unit
Aside from the Avatars, there is also the Exemplars which allows the players to use the avatar that they created to design their ideal, most powerful card. Through every townhalls, we can see matt and the other members of the team, each with a card background that has OP stats and ridiculous combinations of abilities that can almost break the balance of the game if they ever became available and now, we can also do something similar with the Avatars that we designed.
But to be able to create your ultimate card, you will need to purchase the stats and abilities using Glint, and it can be very hefty for even the top Glint holders may fin it difficult to get all the stats and abilities in one go, so it is clearly a long term plan for the game.
While, exemplars can't be used in battle, the team said that they will be included in some custom tournaments and challenges, as well to be included in the next iteration of Guild Brawls and single player campaign.

Once that you designed your Exemplar, you cannot reset their stats and abilities right away. You will need to use a Capacity Flux to reset and reallocate the stats and abilities that you want to place in your card.

Another type of craftable potion using Land resources that allows players to reset their Exemplar's Points or change an Exemplar’s element. Each player will have 10 free charges allowing them to experiment with their builds.
Closing
And that was the most recent update in Splinterlands for 2025, Since the team will be going for vacation for the holiday, I think that it will be their last update for the year. But the team keeps exceeding my expectations this year with the amount of new content they added to the game so who knows. For now, what I will be looking forward to are the new bloodlines so that I can further customize my Avatars the way I like it.
