Cloveria Morth'lana's Final Sales Numbers

Hello, there! @saydie here, playing Splinterlands everyday!

Cloveria.png

So yesterday, the General sale for the card Cloveria Morth'lana has finally ended. This will be the 6th Voucher card to be sold at the Voucher shop and the 3rd card that falls under the Conclave Arcana. And now that the general sale has ended, the only way to acquire the card is through a third-party market or by buying it from another player. For those who don't know, the original goal of the Voucher card is to burn through the Vouchers that we continuously mint every day as part of our Staking rewards, and through running Validator Nodes, so whenever a Voucher card sale ends, the question was "Does it make us Voucher deflationary?"

That was the question that I will answer in this post.

Cloveria Morth'lana's Final Numbers

Each card that was sold in the Voucher shop will be available for about 90 days, and each day, we are minting a total of 40,000 Vouchers. So, through the card's duration in the shop, we are minting about 3.6 million Vouchers, and unless we burn an equal or larger amount of Vouchers, the card has failed on its target.

General Sale

At the end of the General sale, the total copies of Cloveria Morth'lana that were purchased were 5,580 BCX, with each copy costing 250 Vouchers each. So all in all, the General sale had only burned 1,395,000 Vouchers, which is not even half of the Vouchers that we need to burn.

Gold Foil Arcane Fortune Draw

For the GFA Fortune draw, there are only 10 GFA Cloveria Morth'lana that were minted, and to participate, each participant needs 10 Fortune Draw Tickets for each entry, and each ticket needs 10 Vouchers to be crafted. In total, there are 1,750 entries, or an equivalent of 17,500 Fortune Tickets, and that eats up 175,000 Vouchers in total.

Black Foil Arcane Auction

Meanwhile, there are only 5 Cloveria Morth'lana that was minted for the BFA Auction, but unlike the GFA Fortune Draw, which is based on luck, winning cards at the Auction event will be based on who pays the most for the card by bidding Auction Marks that require 50 Vouchers to craft. All in all, there are 1,245 Auction Marks used in the event, which is equivalent to 62,250 Vouchers.

Sales Breakdown

Cloveria Morth'lana Voucher Sale Gen. Sale1,395,000
Cloveria Morth'lana GFA Fortune Draw175,000
Cloveria Morth'lana BFA Auction62,250
Total Vouchers Used1,632,250
Vouchers Printed (90 Days)3,600,000
Vouchers Need To Burn To Be Voucher Deflationary-1,967,750

To summarize it all, out of the 3.6 million Vouchers that we needed to burn to become Voucher deflationary, we only burned 1,632,250 Vouchers, even after combining all the vouchers used across the different events that took place within the 90 days that Cloveria Morth'lana was available. That was not even half of the amount of Vouchers we need to be Voucher deflationary.

If I had to guess why the sale had gone so low, maybe it was due to the specs and stats of the card. Although it has a good attack and speed, it has a very low health. I also find the fact that it was a range unit that affects the desire for the card, since it can't attack in the first position, as well as its Recharge ability, which, in exchange for triple damage, will skip every other round, which can be detrimental to the result of a match. In fact, ever since the card became available, I can barely encounter it in matches, and I usually win most of the time that I encounter it. Maybe if the team gives it a Close Range and Piercing ability, it would become more desirable for players to buy.

Closing

And that's it for the final sales numbers for Cloveria Morth'lana. Overall, there is not much desire to obtain this card due to its stats and abilities, but relying on one card to burn all of our excess Vouchers was in itself a difficult task, and we were only able to succeed on it once with Kelan Gaines. And I think that the team has learned its lesson now, since they have changed their approach by selling 3 Voucher cards at the same time, along with some skins, giving more options for players where they will spend their vouchers.
