Death Has No Power Has To Go Back

Hello, there! @saydie here, playing Splinterlands everyday!

Aside from the recently added battle mechanics, what brings another layer of depth to the Splinterlands gameplay are its Game Modifiers. They are the set of rules that change the winning conditions of every battle. Sometimes these rulesets give abilities that either benefit or harm both teams. Other times, they will restrict the type of Archons and units that we can use. Depending on the situation, these Modifiers can be your ally or be a far more difficult hurdle than your actual opponent.
Days ago, I talked about how sometimes the team has sunsetting some rulesets if the players feel it is not helping to make a good battle experience. However, I think that there is a ruleset previously removed to the circulating modifiers that the team has to return at some point, specially when the underlying ability the ruleset was based of has been heavily neutered to the point that it was almost criminal. The ruleset that I was talking about was Death Has No Power.

Death Has No Power

If we include all the rulesets that have ever come in Splinterlands, we now have a total of 80 different rulesets. These rulesets randomly rotate on every battle, with a maximum of three rulesets in a battle, and depending on the league that you were playing, you will get battles with more rulesets more often. However, for a while Death Has No Power was among the ruleset that we can encounter, then it suddenly stopped at some point. It must have been removed due to the effects of this ruleset.

With Death Has No Power All units will be given the Final Rest ability.

Final Rest used to be a very powerful ability as it prevents all abilities that were triggered after death to not activate, which includes Bloodlust, Redemption, Scavenger, Martyr, Resurrect, Rebirth, Trample, Bloodline Tribute, Soul Siphon, Poison Burst, and Resurgence. It will also probably prevent Bloodline Pact had it come when the ability was not yet neutered.
Because of that, many meta in modern will no be able to function as they intended, particularly teams that uses Bloodline Tribute and the final Dragon Archon, Dragonlord Mancer will have its Bloodlust to be rendered useless. So I think that was why the team had silently removed this ability.
But just before Dragonlord Mancer was introduced, Final Rest was nerfed into a one time use ability, much similar to Protect and that it can only prevents Rebirth, Resurrect, Resurgence and Soul Siphon from activating once per game block, making them really far and 90% more inferior than wat it used to be.
And since Final Rest has become weaker than it used to be, I believed that Death Has No Power should have a return cause at most, there can only be up to 6 units on both sides that prevents the resurrection of their opponent units. So as long as you defeat units that have Final Rest, that will prevent your units from activating their abilities.

Battle Showcase

This is previous battle of mine, when Final Rest has not been nerfed yet, where I used Thornmaw Berserker to prevent Swiftbeard Stout from activating its Bloodline Tribute ability, as well as Blazebeard Merc to activate its Bloodlust.

Had the Bloodline Tribute worked when Swiftbeard Stout was defeated, it would increase the stats of its ally unit who shares the same Bloodline. But thanks to Final Rest, it has been avoided. But now that Final Rest has been neutered it no longer was able to prevent those abilities from triggering.

Closing
And that was Death Has No Power. With Final Rest being nerfed to wazoo, I think that the team has to at least return the ruleset back, just so that it could provide a more decent battle for opponents by at least having the ability to take prevent the opponents ability to return to the game. That way, it could at least provide more fight in matches.
Thank you, and see you on the next post!
