Enraged Warriors: The Weakest Ruleset Yet

Hello, there! @saydie here, playing Splinterlands everyday!

Throughout the past seasons, Splinterlands has kept on adding new game modifiers that would bring a new twist to each of our ranked battles, as adding these modifiers can change the winning conditions of every battle. Sometimes, it will bring bonuses that could strengthen both teams, while on other occasions, it will bring debilitations that will weaken both of them. Under certain situations, it will even restrict what type of cards each player can use and will even disable some or all of the cards' abilities. So it is not an exaggeration to say that modifiers are sometimes something that a player should be more cautious of, rather than the opponent they were facing.
And just last season, Splinterlands added 2 new modifiers to the game. First was the Outsider, which I think was a very interesting one, and talked about in this post. The other one, Enraged Warriors, on the other hand, was, I think, one of the weakest rulesets yet, and I want to talk about why in this post.
Enraged Warriors

The list of Splinterlands game modifiers keeps on growing. As of now, we have a total of 75 modifiers, including the 5 event-limited modifiers. Depending on which league a player is currently competing in, there can be up to 3 active modifiers in play. And now, with these new modifiers in the game, players will once again need to experiment and build new strategies for them to win their battles. But Enrage Warriors would not really affect how much a battle was concluded, given how it works, as imposing as its name is:

Enraged Warriors:
Melee units attack first when speed is tied with ranged or magic units. Speed turn order priority applies.
So, with Enraged Warrior, melee units will be able to attack first if their speed is the same as that of the range or magic units, merely changing the attack priority of the cards. And that was only when their speed is tied. Melee units will still attack last if either the magic or range unit has the faster speed. It also does not guarantee that the melee attack will hit its target or anything, so even if they get to attack first, missing will still always be a possibility. At the same time, it may even make the attack meaningless if the target has a lot of armor, and the melee unit attacks it and only reduces its armor, rather than the magic unit that could defeat it in one attack, as it ignores most armors and directly damages the target's health.

Battle Showcase

So here is a sample of a battle that has the Enraged Warriors as one of the active rulesets, but as you see, the only cards that were gonna be affected by it will be the opponent's Silverblade Fighter, which is a melee unit, and my Daarg Deadblast, Jicarilla the Rime and Brimbardum Smith, which are all both with magic attacks. Between them, Silverblade Fighter will be able to attack instead due to the effects of Enraged Warriors. That said, many of my cards are still faster than Silverblade Fighter, so they can attack first and inflict significant damage to it, while also having more chances to dodge Silverblade Fighter's attacks.

At the end, the change in attack order did not really affect how the battle concluded. Whether the ruleset was active or not, I still believe that I will win the game. In the first place, my Commander Slade is just very fast that my opponent team was barely able to touch it due to their speed difference, and it has tons of abilities that will increase the chance for the opponent to miss their attack, regardless of their attack type.
Closing
As imposing as Enraged Warriors sounds as a ruleset, it does barely did anything to change the outcome of the battles that I had, and because of that, it is nothing that much different from a game with a standard ruleset, making it one of the weakest rulesets yet.
