Exploring The Chaos: Core Death Epics
Introduction
Hi! @saydie here playing Splinterlands everyday!
This is Exploring the Chaos where I take a look on Chaos Legion cards including their subsets such as Riftwatchers and the Reward cards, as they brought new abilities and strategies that changes how the game was played.
The topic of my review for some time now was about the core cards of the Chaos Legion which is the third major card expansion of the game with over 100 cards and so far, I have come to finish with the core cards under the common and rare rarity and have begin with the epic rarity containing 17 cards. The first element that I cover was the Fire Element, followed by Water, Life, Earth and for this week, I will be covering for the Death Element.

Epic Death Cards In Action
Battle 1: Magi Necrossi
Conditions | Description |
---|---|
Gold League Modern Format | 40 Mana Cap Available Elements: Death, Earth, Dragon Link: https://splinterlands.com?p=battle&id=sl_825417593efc7f52badae101fa49c78f&ref=crimepoet |
What Doesn't Kill You | All Monsters have the Scattershot ability. |
Close Range | Range attacks may be used in the first position in battles. |
Melee Mayhem | Melee attack Monsters can attack from any position. |
This battle has the Aimless ruleset which randomizes the target of magic and range attacks while we also have Close Range and Melee Mayhem that allows range and melee monsters to be able to attack at any position.
I have used Magi Necrossi to be placed next to the last position so that it will take a little longer before it goes to the first position and be able to be attacked by melee monsters since on this battle, the Scattershot ability can attack monsters even with Camouflage ability and at the same time, Scattershot also takes precedence before Snipe which means that Snipe ability will not work but that said, but that said, Magi Necrossi was still an excellent card to use because it has decent speed which means that it can attack faster than other monsters, hitting Spirit Hoarder with 3 damage which instantly defeat it..
Battle 2: Insidious Warlock
Conditions | Description |
---|---|
Brawl Silver League | 23 Mana Cap Available Elements: Fire, Death Earth, Life Link: https://splinterlands.com?p=battle&id=sl_40b9b9f92e644e463716a38709ebe08d&ref=bltzr-wizard-726 |
Reverse Speed | Monsters with the lowest Speed attack first and have the highest chance of evading attacks. |
Are You Not Entertained Yet? | One additional Gladiator card may be used in battles. |
Wands Out | Only monsters with Magic attack may be used in battles. |
On this battle, there is the Reverse Speed ruleset where the slower monster gets to attack first while Are You Not Entertained Yet allows the use of Gladiator cards though it was limited to only those with magic attack since we also have the Wands Out ruleset in play.
I played Insidious Warlock in the last position since it was a card that can only get to attack every next turn due to recharge so it was quite difficult to use but when it lands a hit, the target would received 3x of its base attack just like when it hit Djinn Muriat with 6 damage which is far from its 2 damage and at the same time, it only receives 1 damage from Magic Reflect because the reflected damage was based on its base damage.
Battle 3: Weirding Warrior
Conditions | Description |
---|---|
Brawl Silver League | 57 Mana Cap Available Elements: Death, Life Link: https://splinterlands.com?p=battle&id=sl_3c698639ee2bf2a0faba8058da51aa5b&ref=bltzr-wizard-726 |
Going the Distance | Only monsters with Range Range attack may be used in battle. |
Little League | Only Monsters & Summoners that cost 4 Mana or less may be used in battles. |
On this battle, we have Going the distance which only allows the use of range monsters in battle and at the same time, Little League only allows the use or monsters with 4 mana or less.
I played Weirding Warrior which is placed second to the last position since it has the Rust ability which in case will reduce the armor of all opponent monsters so attacks would be directed to the health of the opponent and even if the opponent has some armor left, it will be all gone once Weirding Warrior when it use its Shatter ability and for a 2- mana card it got a decent range attack, inflicting 2 damage on Venari Marksrat.
Final Thoughts
With the exception of of Insidious Warlock, I would say that Magi Necrossi and Weirding Warrior proves to be excellent cards that I often use in battle. They have good use case for melee and magic battles. On the other hand, Insidious Warlock was a card that was difficult to use due to it's Recharge and can only be use on niche situations but would not be a meta card at least for the available set of cards.
That was all for this post and see you on the next one!
