Exploring the Chaos: Core Neural Epics & Legendary

Introduction
Hi! @saydie here playing Splinterlands everyday!
This is Exploring the Chaos where I take a look on Chaos Legion cards including their subsets such as Riftwatchers and the Reward cards, as they brought new abilities and strategies that changes how the game was played.
The topic of my review for some time now was about the core cards of the Chaos Legion which is the third major card expansion of the game with over 100 cards and so far, I have come to finish with the core cards under the common and rare rarity and have begin with the epic rarity containing 17 cards. The first element that I cover was the Fire Element, followed by Water, Life, Earth and and Death but for this week I would make a review for the neutral element which only have 2 cards on the set so to compensate for it, I also added the Legendary monsters that belong to the Neutral Element.

Epic & Legendary Neutral Cards In Action
Battle 1: Magi of Chaos
| Conditions | Description |
|---|---|
![]() Diamond League Modern Format | 28 Mana Cap Available Elements: Fire, Water, Death, Life, Earth, Dragon Link: https://splinterlands.com?p=battle&id=sl_3ac75cab4491b1adac5273b14ba880ea&ref=bltzr-wizard-726 |
![]() Reverse Speed | Monsters with the lowest Speed attack first and have the highest chance of evading attacks. |
![]() Lost Legendaries | Legendary Monsters may not be used in battles. |
This battle only has the Reverse Speed ruleset which makes the slower monsters to attack first and have the most chance of dodging attacks and Lost Legendaries which bans the use of Legendary monsters in battle.
I have used Magi of Chaos which is quite a slow card so that it can have the edge when attacking due to the ruleset favoring the slower cards and since it was also a magic monster, it's attack will pass trough the opponents armor, damaging its health directly as it did with Antoid Platoon which have also causes for it to be defeated.

Battle 2: Gem Meteor
| Conditions | Description |
|---|---|
![]() Brawl Silver League | 27 Mana Cap Available Elements: Water, Earth, Life, DragonLink: https://splinterlands.com?p=battle&id=sl_2391199688b687d62e4292acbf34c6ce&ref=bltzr-wizard-726 |
![]() Heavy Hitters | All Monsters have the Knock Out ability. |
![]() Odd Ones Out | Only Monsters with odd Mana costs may be used in battles. |
![]() Counterspell | All monsters have the Magic Reflect ability. |
On this battle, there is the heavy Hitters ruleset where all monsters have the Knockout ability together with Counterspell that gives all monsters the Magic Reflect ability under the condition that only odd- mana monsters can be used due to Odd Ones Out ruleset.
The randomness of Gem Meteor can sometimes hurt and sometimes benefit the user because its attacks are based on RNG so every time it attacks, chances are it will hit another monster but even though that was the case, it has quite a speed which makes it attack faster than other cards and it got piercing attacks which means that if its attacks has reduce all the armor of the target, the remaining damage would be inflicted to the health of the target.

Battle 3: Legionnaire Alvar
| Conditions | Description |
|---|---|
![]() Brawl Silver League | 39 Mana Cap Available Elements: Fire, Water, LifeLink: https://splinterlands.com?p=battle&id=sl_946e518bdc9112520057cf5d26276e52&ref=agonyaccepted |
![]() Super Sneak | All Melee attack Monsters have the Sneak ability. |
![]() Evens Stevens | Only Monsters with even Mana costs may be used in battles. |
On this battle, we have Super Sneak that gives all melee monster the Sneak ability under the condition that even- mana monsters cannot used in battle due to Evens Stevens.
Due to it's enormous armor, I placed Legionnaire Alvar at the back in order to serve as a backline tank which has served its purpose well as the ruleset makes melee monsters to attack the back but at the same time, Legionnaire Alvar also reduces the attack of all melee monsters of the opponent which have reduced the damage it receives from its attackers that is why it only receives 2 damage from Flying Squid when it originally has 3 damage.

Battle 4: Spirit Hoarder
| Conditions | Description |
|---|---|
![]() Brawl Silver League | 33 Mana Cap Available Elements: Water, Earth, Death, Life, DragonLink: https://splinterlands.com?p=battle&id=sl_946e518bdc9112520057cf5d26276e52&ref=agonyaccepted |
![]() Melee Mayhem | Melee attack Monsters can attack from any position. |
On this battle, we only have one rule set which is Melee Mayhem that allows all melee monster to attack regardless of their position.
I have place Spirit Hoarder at the back since the attacks would most likely come at the front due to the active ruleset which is not a problem since it was a magic card and can attack anywhere. It also provides healing on backline monsters such as Time Mage that has received damage earlier due to magic Reflect with the use of Triage and also gives 15% miss chance against opponent attacks with Blind that helps Pelacor Conjurer to receive damage.

Final Thoughts
Among the 4 cards, the two that I mostly hesitate to use are Gem Meteor and Spirit Hoarder. This was because they include randomness in their ability with Gem Meteor's Scattershot and with Spirit Hoarder's Blind specially due to it's incredibly low health which could make it the target of Opportunity attacks. Meanwhile, I have often use Magi of Chaos and Legionnaire Alvar due to their flexibility as they can fit with whatever element you choose being both a powerful magic and as defensive tank.
And by that, I was able to cover all the core epic cards of Chaos Legion and at the same time, have started the core legendary cards beginning with the neutral element. Next week, I would proceed with the legendary cards of the Dragon Element.
That was all for this post and see you on the next one!
