If you think that you've seen all the cool stuff that Splinterlands are cooking for 2025, or you think that they have shown us all of their cards, then you were wrong, because Splinterlands has yet again surprised us with a new set of cards. This time, it was not meant to be used in ranked battle, but a major expansion to make Land gameplay more interesting, by introducing new mechanics, new resource item, and new resource sinks that will reignites player's interest to land.

To the entirety of Praetoria, and to all the virtual land owners, prepare for the arrival of Land Cards into Splinterlands.

The Inaugural Land Card Edition

image.png

The Inaugural Land Card Edition introduces new Land-specific gameplay, with new cards that will be crafted directly from Land resources, as well as Cinder, which is a new type of resource that can be created by burning cards for 1.5 X the card's CP for cards with DEC burn value. For soulbound cards and other cards that are burnable only for Glint, they will not be able to produce Cinder. So, not only this can be a great way to reduce the supply of Land resources, it will also be a great way to burn the player's unused cards and potentially give them more value. This new Land cards can only be used on Land, meaning, they cannot be used in battles, regardless if it is ranked, tournament or brawls, and neither it can be used to increase Contribution points in Conflicts. There will be 4 different Land cards, each with different rarity and of course, new abilities for Land gameplay. These abilities were as follows.

Land Card Abilities

Bountiful Grain/Wood/Stone/Iron/AuraProvides a production bonus for worksites producing that resource.
Toil and KinProvides a production bonus if one of your workers has the matching Bloodline.
Dark DiscountReduces the amount of DEC required to stake for the plot to reach 100% efficiency.
EnergizedActs as a replacement for a Power Core.
RationingReduces the amount of grain consumed on plot harvest.
Labor’s LuckChance of discovering a GF, GFA, BF, or BFA Land Card during plot harvest.

Each of these new abilities were exclusive for Land-gameplay, which includes the abilities such as Dark Discount that reduces the DEC required to stake for land as well as Energized that replaces for a Power Core, similar to Runi, which I think is great so players who staked their Runi on land can finally use them again in ranked battle.

Land Cards

  • Tireless Farmhand

This common land card gives up to 60% production to grain as well as up to 30% discount to DEC stake requirements for land and reduces the grain consumption by up to 30%. To get Energized, it needs to reach at least level 3 and max level to get Labor's Luck.

  • Kinbound Druid

This rare land card gives up to 70% production to wood and gives another up to 30% bonus if at least one of the worker shares the same bloodline with this card as well as up to 99% discount to DEC stake. To get Energized, it needs to reach at least level 2 and max level to get Labor's Luck.

  • Toiling Ox

This epic land card gives up to 80% production bonus to grain and up to 85% production bonus to stone as well as up to 80% discount to DEC stake. It needs to be at max level to have Labor's Luck and doesn't have Energized, so it can't be substituted to Power Core.

Toiling Box.pngimage.png
  • Undying Miner

For the legendary land card, it gives up to 100% production bonus to iron and up to 100% production bonus to Aura as well as up to 99% discount to DEC stake and another 30% production bonus if at least one of the staked card on land shares the same bloodline. It needs to be at max level to have Labor's Luck and doesn't have Energized, so it can't be substituted to Power Core.

My Early Land Strategy

image.png

As of now, I have yet to fully comprehend all the things that comes with the Land Cards, but as a small Land owner with a common jungle and common mountain, the resources that I can produce with my Lands were Iron and Wood, so the most logical choice Land cards for me to craft is Kinbound Druid and Undying Miner, but among these two, Undying Miner will require an Aura to craft which I do not produce, nor was available in the trade hub, so my only option right now was to craft for Kinbound Druid which only requires Wood. At the same time, since it has the Energize ability, I can substitute this card for a Power Core and use it to release the Runi I staked to use it for ranked battles.

In that sense, I will need 30k of wood and 1,875 Cinder for a single BCX of the card, but if I want to max the card, I will need 3,450,000 Wood and 215,625 Cinder, or about $ 287.50. That was quite a hefty price for a card, even though I had some wild cards that I can burn to Cinder, so rather going for a max level, I think it will be more realistic for me to aim for a level 7 Kinbound Druid, where I will still get a 99% Dark Discount, 30% Toil& Kin, and 60% Beautiful Wood. It may not have a max PP, but the production bonus to it will be more than enough to compensate for it.

Closing

And those were my early thoughts and strategies for this upcoming land card. As I said earlier, I haven't fully grasped all the things about this upcoming update, and depending on the new things I will learn in the upcoming days, I will have to adjust my initial strategy. But overall, I like this upcoming change as it gives players different means in how they can participate in the game

Thank you, and see you on the next post!
