Learning From My Worst Battle Luck To Become Better

Hello there! @saydie here, playing Splinterlands everyday!

A few days ago, I made a post about how the season has just started, and I am already getting bombarded with bad RNG, with battles of which I have the confidence that I could win, but turns out the other way when the battle was resolved. And until now, the streams of bud RNG still continue, which has even resulted in me falling back to Diamond I from Champion III. I had it get back now, and it is currently at 3,840 rating, though I am still struggling to get the remaining rating to get to Champion II.

Anyway, the reason I talk about my previous worst battle is because earlier today, I employ the similar strategy that my opponent used against me, and it has led me to win the battle. So I just want to share that battle within this post.

Worst Battle Luck Recap

For those who do not want to go back on my previous post, my worst battle luck goes like this.

image.png

We both use an Archon that is the very definition of an RNG, but we made a slightly different team composition, where I was focused on inflicting heavy damage while the opponent was more focused on healing their team. At the end of the battle, not only did the opponent win, but they won with a full team and full health, making it seem as if my team's resistance did not amount to anything, but learning from the experience, I try to copy my opponent's strategy in my battle.

All units with magic and ranged attacks have Snipe (magic and ranged attacks target the first non-melee enemy unit behind the first position).

Unlike my worst luck battle, there are a lot more elements that were available in this battle, and the modifiers were also quite different, but given who my opponent is, I need to think of a different strategy that he is not expecting, and that was when it came to me to use the same strategy that my opponent previously used to defeat me. By the way, I am just against Clayboyn, the one and only Dao manager, and he certainly was not an easy opponent.

Battle Showcase

As you can see, Clayboyn and I use an entirely different team. He goes with a Lorkus Team, hoping to leech the life out of my units, while I had employed a Cryptic team, hoping to evade all of its attacks, whether it was range or magic by uing Mar Toren Seeker as my main tank followed by Jicarilla the Rime to give it the Phase ability through Phase Ward, and provide healing support through Tank Heal, I also got Anasth Soothsayer on the very back of my lineup to provide more heal and Cleanse in case my card got afflicted. The level of my units was not the same as that of my opponent, from whom I copied the strategy, so they lack certain stats and abilities, so I can only hope that the RNG goddess will give this battle to me, and she did.

I almost had my heart dropped at round 1 when they were able to hit Mar Toren Seeker, and it was only down to 2 health, because just one more hit and my strategy would crumble on its knees.

image.png

Thankfully, at round 2, my tank was able to recover its lost health, while none of the opponent's attacks had hit it as we whittled down the health of their tank.

image.png

With round 3, the opponent still failed to land a clean hit on my tank, while my team was able to defeat 2 of their cards, and as a result, they are now only down to 4 units.

image.png

On round 4, though, they were able to take down my tank, but this no longer mattered since the opponent team was now only down to 2 units, and once their magic unit was finally down, they could no longer do anything, as the remaining range unit cannot attack in the first position.

And in round 6, we finally took down the final unit of the opponent team without any resistance.

Closing

It's not a perfect victory like my previous opponent, who uses the same strategy, but it is good enough to let me win the battle. And overall, I had to rely on luck, because if my opponent defeated my Mar Toren Seeker on the very first round, the result of this battle would be entirely different. But through learning from our opponent's strategy can lead to us to become better at the game.

Thank you, and see you on the next post!
