Start The Season With My Worst Battle Luck

Hello there! @saydie here, playing Splinterlands everyday!

The season has just started, and the RNG Goddess has proven to me that she does not love me. Had made a few battles today, and immediately lost battles that I thought I would win. Well, my Luck is not that bad yet, since my current win rate, as I wrote this post, was still at 50%, but increasing my win rate is easier said than done, especially when luck was usually not on my side.
Anyways, I like to share one of my worst luck battles in this post, and I say it's worst cause my team can't even hit a non- moving target, while my opponent's attacks hit my team most of the time.

Battlefield Rulesets
| Mana Cap | 36 |
| Available Elements | Water, Death |
![]() Maneuvers | All units have Reach. |
![]() Stampede | The Trample ability can trigger multiple times per attack if the trampled Monster is killed. |
![]() Global Warming | All units have the Burning status effect applied at the start of combat (At the beginning of round 2, burning has a 33% chance to spread to adjacent units. All burning units lose 2 health. Burning can be cleansed). |
So it's a battle with a 36 mana cap, which goes to the lower side of the mana caps, but not low enough that you cannot place units with high mana cost, and the only available elements to use were Water and Death. Given by what elements are available, you may have an idea which Archon is most suitable in this battle to fully maximize the two available abilities. Meanwhile, for the modifiers, the only one that is really concerning is the Global Warming ability that gives all units the Burning Debilitation.

Battle Showcase
As you can see, both the opponent and I used the same Archon, Cryptic, which is the very definition of RNG, given how it gives the Blind ability on all monster units that gives them 15% chance to miss an attack, along with the -1 in speed that will make both teams slower. In terms of team composition, the opponent and I also share an identical lineup in how we position some of our common cards. The only difference was that the opponent uses Mar Toren Seeker as its tank, and places Anasth Soothsayer for the healing support, making their team more focused on healing.
Meanwhile, I had Commander Slade as my tank, which also has excellent damage, thinking that it is better to finish the battle as fast as I can, before the Burning debilitation takes all my cards. Both of us also uses Jicarilla the Rime to give our tanks the Phase ability, so that they could evade magic attacks.

Round 1 starts, and I thought I had the edge since Commander Slade inflicts 5 damage to Mar Toren Seeker, but as the round ended, the opponent was able to nullify the damage through healing the damage.

On round 2, I still think that I had the upper hand because I was able to hit their tank once again, and while the opponent could just heal it, what they can't easily heal is the backfire damage that missing an attack against Commander Slade, and I thought that was the way that I could defeat my opponent. Unfortunately, I was afflicted with Poison in this round, so aside from Burning, Slade was also losing health from Poison.

I guess, round 3 is where my path to winning finally closes, when Anasth Soothsayer hit an attack. It was not that powerful, but it comes with Dispel, which returns the speed of Slade to 4, making him now more easily susceptible to attacks. It won't matter much if I was able to defeat Mar Toren Seeker, but as you can see, aside from Slade, none of my other attacks have been hitting it. So, at the end of round 3, Slade dies because of Poison and Burning.

And I think you already know what comes after once Slade hits the nail. Without a unit that could evade magic attacks, my team has fallen one by one against the opponent team. The battle lasted a little over 7 rounds, but no matter how my team tried to resist, the battle had become impossible to win when Slade fell into the battle. What's worse is that not only has my team not taken down any unit in the opponent team, but they also came out to the end with full health. A complete and utter defeat, even when their tank did not attack even once.

Closing
So yeah, the season has started, and I already am facing some bad RNG matchups. At first, I thought that the lineup that my opponent had was kind of weird, but it turns out that I will be completely beaten by it.
Anyway, the first day of the month is here, so it's also time for the monthly HPUD. This time, I power up another 10 hive, which will give me the level 1 bee badge.

Thank you, and see you on the next post!
