Survival Bot Stress Test Season 3

Hello, there! @saydie here, playing Splinterlands everyday!

The stress test for liquidity bots in Survival still continues. The purpose for this is to prepare for the implementation of Brackets in Modern Format and players who satisfy the required number of battles can get up to 250k Glint after they provide feedback about the bots efficiency. Not to mention, the additional Glint that the player can earn through Survival ranked, leaderboard, and the Ascension Tournament, as well as the Darkguard Hellion copies that players can get.

I participate again last season, and was able to complete the 250 battles required by the team, and this was because of the changes that they made last season that makes it easier for me to play my battles.

Similar to the first 2 seasons, I decided to also play Bracket IV last season in Survival Mode, even though players is free to choose which Brackets to play between Brackets I-V, so that they can play at the level by which they are most comfortable with. The reason I decided to continue with this Bracket even when I play with max-level deck in Modern is because taking the other season into consideration, I will have a better feel of the bots performance and can provide a more accurate feedback.

Anyway, I start playing Survival when almost half of the season has passed, but was still able to complete the required 250 battles, and that was because the team has essentially removed the cooldown on the cards, so I can continue playing even after I lose my team. The team also adjust the season reset to match with the current league tier reset in Modern. Previously, players will be reset at Wood tier in Survival, but now players will only reset 2 ranks from their highest league tier from the previous season. Since I was at gold II rating the prior season after the last, I only derank to Silver I rating. Thanks to that, I was able to accumulate more reward points, which means I could get a bigger slice of the Glint Pool.

Aside from that, I also finished last season at 4200 rating, which is at the third place of the Bracket IV leaderboard, earning me an additional 75k Glint and 4 BCX of Darkguard Hellion. Thanks to it, my season reset has only derank me to Diamond I rating. But that also means that if I change Brackets now, I will lose my rating progress, which makes choosing a different Bracket not a great option.

As for my liquidity bot feedback, I do not think that they become that much difficult compared to the previous seasons and it's been clear if you look at my 77.38% win rate. The only difference now is that I almost do not encounter the SLBB bots that usually uses foundation Archons in battles. The only liquidity bots that I encountered was the KOMCBOT.COM and the Archmage bots, which takes the most of my battles.

Unlike the previous seasons, I think that they were now using more varieties of modern cards, including units that were part of the game's meta, giving me some decent competition.

But at times, they will also use crappy teams that uses Foundation Archons. And since this Archons are currently capped at silver level, they do not really provide any competition when players in bracket IV can use cards that are capped at gold level.

And as you can see, I also have matches with liquidity bots that were using Foundation cards with over 3500 rating, which provides an easy win even though the bot also includes the use of other modern cards. Because even when they play a lineup that make sense with the battle ruleset, the cards were still being level capped by their Archon, which limits their capabilities.

Which is why I suggest that if the liquidity bots will keep on using Foundation Archons and units, the team should at least tweaked their levels as well as some of their stats and abilities, to match the brackets that they were being played by the bots. In this case, the bots should have a level 6 Foundation Archon, when playing bracket IV. At the very least, foundation archons at level 6 are better than the dual-element common Archons at the same level and between Nomos and Marlai Singariel, it will be obvious which will be the better choice which to use during Wands Out ruleset.

And it's not as if the team has not tweaked the foundation cards before. I don't remember when, but liquidity bots in Modern used to play Foundation cards that are way beyond their level cap. As you can see, I have a screenshot of Marlai Singariel at level 8 which I encountered at Diamond. Unfortunately, I somehow can not play the battle due to some errors, which is maybe related with the foundation cards no longer being played at that level.

But that is just to show that Foundation cards can be leveled up to match the Brackets that players were playing.

Closing

And that was it for my feedback for the Survival stress test last season. I haven't played Survival yet, so I do not know if there was any improvements to the bots, but if there is one thing that could immediately make them more competitive is by adjusting the level of Foundation cards that the bots were using to match the Brackets that they were being played.

Thank you, and see you on the next post!
