Survived a Crazy Lineup

Hello, there! @saydie here, playing Splinterlands everyday!

It has not even been a week since the launch of the new Voucher cards in the Voucher shop, and it has already burned over 1.2 million Vouchers. And if this trajectory continues for the next 3-4 weeks, we might be able to finally become Voucher deflationary after a long time. Another wonderful thing that I see is with how the price of Vouchers has spiked up, which is a good sign that there is an ongoing demand for the Voucher cards, but we still have to see if it will be able to keep that demand for the following weeks.
Anyway, I just came across two of the Voucher cards in a single lineup earlier today, and fortunately, I was able to win against them, so I just want to share how that battle unfolded in this post.

The Crazy Lineup

Having two of the most recent promo cards in a single team with the rare promo card, Conjurer's Hubris and the legendary promo card, Lorn was already crazy enough, but aside from that, my opponent has also chosen to have Calamity on its lineup along with the Archon Nidhoggr that has just recently been rework and was removed the Force Reduction, while it can give up to 3 units its tactics abilities. Looking at the lineup, it was certainly a powerhouse team that could crush its opponent in battle.
Not to mention, the active modifier during that battle was the Equal Opportunity ruleset that gives all cards the Opportunity ability, making them able to attack the opponent with the least health, regardless of their position.

I, on the other hand has chosen to play a full rebellion team, which not only exceeds in damage, but has also its speed boosted, but even that may not be enough because if left alone, some of the opponent cards can increase their attack, unlike my team with fixed damage. Some of my cards also do not boast high health and can easily be targeted by the opponent. However, it all comes down to my Archon choice why I won the battle. By choosing Akane and giving the Ambush ability to Kelan Gaines and Venka the Vile, I was able to get a heads up and attack my opponent, defeating some of their cards before round 1 even starts.

Battle Showcase

In this battle, my first hurdle will be Conjurer's Hubris since it has the Ambush ability and can attack even before the first round starts, with both melee and magic attacks. Furthermore, it has the Apex Strike ability that will instead attack my unit with the highest damage. And with Execute, it can attack once again if the target it hits has only 2 or less health. Because of that, I decided to give the Ambush ability first to Kelan Gaines since it was faster than Conjurer's Hubris, and can attack twice due to its Double Strike ability. But it was not enough to kill it, so for the next card to have Ambush, I chose to have Venka the Vile, since it has the Trample ability that will allow it to attack again if it defeats its target.

And with that, we were able to beat Conjurer's Hubris during the Ambush Round while also reducing the armor of Runic Skychonk. Also, it was the first time that I was able to see that "Brutal!!!" description to Venka the Vile. I do not know if it was something that would only show for him or for anyone who defeats an opponent during the Ambush round, but I find it really cool to have it when my card defeats an opponent.
Then round 1 starts with Kelan Gaines defeating Runic Skychonk, followed by Shock Trooper defeating Ironwing Juggernaut, but the opponent will not let me do all the crushing because it retaliates by defeating Shock Trooper and Venka the Vile. That was not were the battle ended, though, because at the end of the round, Grimbardum Smith inflicted the final blow that made Hafling Refugee leave the battle.

Fast forward to round 3 and Kelan Gaines beats Calamity, while Daarg Deadblast inflicts the final blow to Lorn to end the battle.

Closing
And that was how the battle unfolded. Since the new promo cards are still new, people are still experimenting with them, so there will be lots of misses until they learn how to use the card properly and which lineup they will synergize with. So while I can, I want to celebrate having these small wins against those crazy cards.
Thank you, and see you on the next post!
