Up Close & Personal in More Ways than One when there's a Fog that Prevents Attack Anywhere but the Front
Introduction
Hello there! @Saydie here, playing Splinterlands everyday!
I'm here for this week's Battle Mage Secrets with the featured ruleset Up Close & Personal. It is a ruleset were only units with melee attack can be used in battles.
The Battle that I will show to you this week was from my @agonyaccepted which is one of my alternate account that uses NFTY Arcade deck delegation to play manually both in Modern and Wild. Before I show you the battle, let us learn more about this ruleset.
Up Close & Personal
Up Close & Personal | Only Monsters with Melee attack may be used in battles. |
Choose a summoner that increases/reduces Melee attack or Mylor. Keep a monster with Shield, Retaliate or Thorns in the first position. Reach, Sneak, Opportunity help in this ruleset. So long as monsters have melee attack it can be used on ranked battle like the following monsters.

Opponent's Line- up
My Team
For this battle, we have the featured rule set Up Close & Personal where only monsters with melee attack along with Fog of War that disables the Sneak, Snipe and Opportunity and Reverse Speed that makes the slower monster to attack first. With this in consideration, my lineup was consist of:
Summoner: Tarsa - Just the right summoner for this battle for it does not only give +1 health on all monsters, it also gives my monster +1 melee damage.
1st Position: Forgotten One - With a huge health and decent amount of armor, it also got a whooping 6 damage that can penetrate through the opponent's armor with Pierce and the ability to Retaliate when attacked. It also can't be afflicted with negative status effects cause it has the Immunity to protect it.
2nd Position: Ferexian Hero - Although its Weapon's Training was basically useless for this battle, it has the Reach ability which allows it to be able to attack even at the 2nd position.
3rd Position: Uraeus - Even when it lose its Sneak ability, it was a cheap melee monster for 3 mana has decent amount of damage and can inflict Poison to it's target.
4th Position: Scorch Fiend - Being a 0 mana card saves it from eating any mana and it also has Demoralize which reduce the melee damage of all opponent monsters.
5th Position: Ferox Defender - Aside from having decent health and armor, it also has Protect that increases the armor of all allied monsters as well as Repair which allowed it to restore the armor of an allied monster that was attacked by the opponnent.
6th Position: Drybone Raider - Has both melee and range attack which allows it to attack even when there is Fog of War. It has Double Strike which allows it to attack twice per round where a successful attack can Shatter all the armor of the opponent as well as reduce their max health with Cripple.

Battle Recap
Here is a replay of the battle which at you can watch at Splinterlands.
Did your Strategy Work?
With Fog of War on the mix, this battle has become Up Close & Personal in more ways then one as we can only attack the front. That said, having Drybone Raider that also got range attack allows me to increase the number of attacks that I could make together with the consistent armor Repair that protects my monsters from opponent attack which in turn gives me the win for this match.
That was it for this post. Thank you and see you at the next one.
