Vonak: A Sneak to the Cards of Rebellion

Introduction
Hi! It's me @saydie, playing Splinterlands everyday!
By the time that I started writing this post, there was only 10 days remaining until the general sale for Rebellion which also means that by that time will also start the time where we can start to be able to play this new set on ranked battles. And as time ticks, Splinterlands has slowly revealing the monsters together with their stats for this new set. So on this post, were gonna take a look at the first batch of Rebellion monsters that was revealed together with their stats and think how to utilized them in ranked battles.

Rebellion Sneak Peaks
- Gobalano Soldier

| Edition | Rebellion |
|---|---|
| Mana Cost | 3 |
| Element | Fire |
| Rarity | Common |
| Card Type | Melee |
| Abilities | Lvl 1 - SneakLvl 1 - AmbushLvl 5 - Shatter |
| RF Burn Value | 5 |
| GF Burn Value | 100 |
For the first monster, we have Gobalano Soldier which is a 3 mana melee monster that belongs to the fire element. It has the Sneak ability which allows it to attack your opponent's backline monsters and remove all of their armor with Shatter. It also comes with Ambush, a new ability for the Rebellion set which allows it to attack even before the start of the battle that could give you the advantage you need to win a match. It is relatively fast, relatively cheap and has relatively strong melee attack for a 3 mana card that is why I think this card could definitely shake the meta for the Fire splinter as we also have the summoner Tarsa from the Chaos Legion which can give it +1 additional damage.
With 3 mana to spend, Gobalano Soldier have good utility on Little League ruleset where only monsters with 4 or less mana can be used and do a double Sneak together with Uraeus or perhaps a quadruple Sneak together with Vruz and Dhampir Infiltrator when used a Dragon summoner.
Melee Sneak Combinations for Little League
| Ruleset | ||||

- Infernal Firestorm

| Edition | Rebellion |
|---|---|
| Mana Cost | 10 |
| Element | Fire |
| Rarity | Epic |
| Card Type | Magic |
| Abilities | Lvl 1 - FlankLvl 6 - Demoralize |
| RF Burn Value | 100 |
| GF Burn Value | 2500 |
For an Epic Fire Splinter, Infernal Firestorm was an absolute beast cause at max level, it comes with 7 armor and 11 health with 3 magic damage for the cost of 10 mana which makes it a giant. It has Demoralize that decrease the melee damage of all opponent monsters and Flank which is also a new ability for the Rebellion set which allows any melee monster that was placed in the 2nd position to attack.
Flank Combinations

For ruleset, I can't really think of any at the moment that would make this Infernal Firestorm that useful since as a monster with 10 mana, it was very vulnerable for Giant Killer and neither it has Shield, Void or Headwinds that could reduce that damage it sustains from being a tank but there were still many cards that was not revealed yet so maybe it could find its strength from them.
- Chaos Animator

| Edition | Rebellion |
|---|---|
| Mana Cost | 3 |
| Element | Death |
| Rarity | Common |
| Card Type | Default |
| Abilities | Lvl 1 - AmplifyLvl 3 - VoidLvl 10 - Redemption |
| RF Burn Value | 5 |
| GF Burn Value | 100 |
Chaos Animator is a 3- mana Death card. It does not have any attack but it got 2 armor and 7 health for a low mana card. This cards has Amplify that increases reflected damage by +1 and Void which reduce magic damage by half. When this card was defeated, it will deal 1 damage on all the opponent monsters with Redemption. It can be a good tank against magic attacks and from the recent Townhall, the team has spoken that they have plans to made changes on Weapons Training to make the ability effect permanent even when the monster with Weapon's Training die so this could make for an interesting change not only for Chaos Animator but for the rest of non-damage cards.
Weapon's Training Combinations

This card can be good for Keep the Distance to serve as anti-magic tank and with Weapon's Training, it can even attack with either magic or range with the available monsters that have the Weapon's Training ability for Death and Dragon Element.
- Anasth Soothsayer

| Edition | Rebellion |
|---|---|
| Mana Cost | 6 |
| Element | Water |
| Rarity | Rare |
| Card Type | Magic |
| Abilities | Lvl 1 - CleanseLvl 2 - Tank HealLvl 4 - LookoutLvl 6 - DispelLvl 8 - Dodge |
| RF Burn Value | 20 |
| GF Burn Value | 500 |
Anasth Soothsayer was so far, my favorite card on this batch of cards. Although it only have 1 magic even at max level, it got Cleanse that removes any negative status effects on the tank and Tank Heal that can restore its health. With Dispel, it removes the buffs of the target and can be a hard monster to hit from the additional 25% evasion chance from Dodge. But wait, there's more! It also have the Lookout ability which reduce the damage from Sneak, Snipe, and Opportunity attacks.
It was a very amazing support with a wide range of utility for a wide range of rulesets and will make the water splinter more stronger than ever but if I could think of a simple lineup, it can be like this.
![]() | ![]() | ![]() | ![]() | ![]() | ![]() |
By placing Anasth Sootsayer at the 2nd position, it provides heal on Diemonshark and at the same time, with Wave Brood at the back to Taunt attacks including monsters with Sneak, Snipe and Opportunity, it will reduce the damage with Lookout.
- Zeddica

| Edition | Rebellion |
|---|---|
| Mana Cost | 3 |
| Element | Water & Death |
| Rarity | Common |
| Card Type | Summoner |
| Abilities | |
| RF Burn Value | 5 |
| GF Burn Value | 100 |
Now, to the fun stuff, we got the first summoner alpha with Zeddica which although does not have any ability or stats to give, was the first Dual Element Summoner that allows the use of both Water and Death Splinter. It only cost 3 mana which makes it useable on little league.
Some Water and Death synergies that I could think of in combination with Chaos Legion was:
- Triple Sneak using Pelacor Bandit, Uraeus and Silent Sha-vi
![]() | ![]() | ![]() | ![]() |
- Quadruple Opportunity with Kulu Mastermind, Deeplurker, Runi, Lira the Dark
![]() | ![]() | ![]() | ![]() | ![]() |
- Prophet Rosa

| Edition | Rebellion |
|---|---|
| Mana Cost | 5 |
| Element | Water |
| Rarity | Rare |
| Card Type | Summoner |
| Abilities | + 2 Range (2 units)or Shield (1 unit) |
| RF Burn Value | 20 |
| GF Burn Value | 500 |
Another Water summoner, Prophet Rosa, cost 5 mana which makes it not useable on the Little League but it was part of the Summoner Tactics which is the new mechanic that goes with Rebellion. Before the Battle Phase, there will be a Tactics Phase that allows you to choose to either give +2 range damage on 2 units or give the Shield ability for one monster after knowing what lineup our opponent has.
For example on this lineup, you can put a Shield on Baakjira.

Or increase the range damage of 2 monsters of your choice

Depending on the choice that you make on the Tactic Phase, you can change the very outcome of the battle to favor your team.

And that was my take on the first batch of the Rebellion Cards that was revealed by the Splinterlands team together with the initial combination and strategies that I could think for them at the moment. I'm still not sure whether this strategies would work when the rest of the Rebellion cards were revealed but thinking of such strategies just makes me more excited about this set.
Thank you and see you on my next post.
