Why Is The Bot Stress test Taking Too Long?

Hello, there! @saydie here, playing Splinterlands everyday!

In the near future, a league cap system is planned to be implemented in Modern Format in the form of Brackets System. It's a system where players can choose one bracket per season and will remain locked until that season end with their card's level capped based on what Brackets they choose. With this, players will have the ability to choose to play on a Bracket with the same level of the card collection that they own. Currently, it was only being implemented on Survival Mode and is planned to be implemented on Modern soon.

But before that happens, it is required that the liquidity bots to be tuned up to play accordingly on each bracket, because once Brackets was implemented, it will divide the current player base that will make match making more difficult and to ease that, we will need liquidity bots, for better or for worse. The stress testing for the liquidity bots has been on its 4th season now, and it seems that it will continue for a bit more season and I can think of some reason why was it taking too long to do the testing, which I will write in this post.

Why Is The Bot Stress test Taking Too Long?

  • Lack Of Player Participation

As we know, for bots to be able to become competitive, they need to collect battle data from human players, which they use to improve their battle strategy. It's similar to how AI was scraping all information to internet to perform the prompts that was tasked on them. But as we know, we really do not have that same huge player base that we used to have during the NFT boom. And if you take a look at each Brackets, we do not even have enough participants to fill all the leaderboard position, just as how it is with Bracket IV where I am currently playing.

I know we have more players in modern than those currently participating in Survival, and maybe its because the Glint incentive that the players get is just not enough for other players to participate in the testing.

  • Modern Card Balancing

In my opinion, the card balance of Modern cards is a mess. It might be partly because of the new abilities and game mechanics that were introduced in the game, but it was clearly evident that certain Archons and units stand above the rest. And maybe this was intentional so that players will chase for those cards. But because some of those cards were too powerful compared to others, players can get some pretty high ratings by continuously spamming those cards, and that's all the battle data that the bots can gather. And when the liquidity bots suddenly spam the same card lineups, players will suddenly complain that they were too strong, not understanding that the bots were likely just mimicking their teams based on the battle data they collected.

If we were still at the Chaos Legion Era of cards, I do not think that we will have the same problem, because the card balancing for that set is better.

Closing

There are probably more reasons why the stress testing for the bots are taking longer, but this were currently the things that I think are the major factors that affects it. And because of that, it may take quite longer before we can see Brackets in Modern. But that is fine for me, because I will use this opportunity to collect as much Glint as well as the Extra card that was given as a leaderboard prize in Survival.

Thank you, and see you on the next post!
