Introduction

Hello there! @Saydie here, playing Splinterlands everyday!

I'm here for this week's Battle Mage Secrets with the featured rule set Heavy Hitters. It is a rule set that gives all the monster the Knockout ability and will deal double damage on a monster that was stunned. If you wonder why I used Djinn Muriat and Coastal Sentry, this were monsters that originally have the Knockout ability when the Heavy Hitters is absent.

The Battle that I will show to you this week was from my @saydie account from which is the main account I'm using with the NFTY Arcade card delegation and was grinding on the Diamond league of the modern format but before I show you the battle, let us learn more about this rule set.

Use a monster with stun.png Stun ability.
There is a 50% chance that your monster with Stun will be able to stun enemy monsters, but if successful, all your monsters will deal double damage to that stunned opponent.

Some Cards with Stun Ability:

These were the sample of cards that will give the stun to the opponent and when it takes effect, all attacks toward that monster would be doubled.

For this battle, we have the featured rule set Heavy Hitters were all monsters have the Knock Out ability as well as Counterspell that gives the Magic Reflect ability. Given this conditions, my line- up was made of:

  • Summoner: I used Kelya Frendul that allows me to use water element monsters with the +1 speed and armor buffs.

  • 1st Position: Pelacor Bandit since it was a really fast card with the Flying ability, adding another 25% dodge chance to it, making it more difficult for melee and range monsters to attack it.

  • 2nd Position: Tide Biter has the Reach ability which enables it to attack at the 2nd position with the True Strike which makes its attack not to miss and Reflection Shield that provides Blast immunity in case that the opponent has one.

  • 3rd Position: Torrent Fiend was a 0- mana cost card that would serve as a damage sponge and it also has the Headwinds ability which reduces the range damage of all opponent monsters.

  • 4th Position: Xenith Archer does not have an ability but as a range monster, it was a cheap card to use with only 2- mana cost.

  • 5th Position: Igor Darkspear also cost 2 mana for a range monster but this one has the Stun ability which would be advantageous with the given rule set.

  • 6th Position: Angelic Mandari in case that the opponent would use sneak attacks would serve as a backline tank that can restore its health with Triage.

3/6 Opponent Xenith Archer attack Tide Biter.

4/6 Tide Biter defeats Merdaali Guardian.

6/6 Igor Darkspear attacks Igor Darkspear of the opponent.

1/5 Xenith Archer Defeats Tide Biter.

2-5/7 Xenith Archer, Angelic Mandarin and Igor Darkspear defeats the Igor Darkspear of the opponent.

7/7 Torrent Fiend removes the armor of Xenith Archer.

Round 5 and 6:

image.png

1-5/6 Xenith Archer, Angelic Mandarin and Igor Darkspear attacks Xenith archer of the opponent by which Stun was activated, allowing Torrent Fiend to deal 2 damage on Xenith Archer.

6/6 Torrent Fiend attacks my Torrent Fiend, removing its armor.

As there was only Torrent Fiend on the opponent side, my team was able to attack it first and eventually defeat it where it was last attacked by Igor Darkspear and Stun was activated though it already has no health so it cannot be attacked anymore.

Did your Strategy Work?

As the effect of the Heavy Hitters and the Knockout was very reliant on monsters with Stun, I have brought Igor Darkspear to the battle but since the effect of Stun was RNG based, there is no guarantee that it will work every time and in this match, it only works during the last moment and on opponents that can be defeated without the ability and the Knockout ability was only used ones. So generally, even without the rule set, I would still be able to win the battle, but still, my strategy works for this specific setup.
